[Liberty Nation] Last month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a continuing and troubling trend: The labor force of American men continues to decline. In 1948, 87% of the workforce was male. From 2000 to 2025, the share of men dropped from 75% to 68%. The long, slow descent has left analysts scratching their heads.
Digging further, young men in particular are missing in action. Those aged 16 to 24 who hold only a high school diploma have suffered the most drastic decline. Meanwhile, skilled trade jobs are abundant and remain unfilled. Worse still, they are not even looking for work. "[T]he share of young men not in school and not seeking work doubled from 4% to 8% between 1990 and 2024," according to the American Institute for Boys and Men.
Let’s take a little detour at this juncture and explore the political affiliation of these men. As it turns out, the statistical trend mirrors what’s been happening in the political sphere. That is, the Democratic Party has been, as The Hill put it, "hemorrhaging men." In 2024, the issue of masculinity was prominent in the run-up to Election Day. And watching the Democrats try to inject some testosterone into their ranks was amusing to those on the right. But if one believes the axiom that work provides purpose and dignity to individuals, it makes sense that disillusioned young men are no longer seeking employment.
As Democrats try to woo American men with beer ads and empty messaging showing their candidates know what to do under the hood of a car, Republicans are offering a UFC match on the White House lawn. There is no other sport in the United States today that conjures testosterone and masculinity more than the UFC. That, dear reader, is what you would call no contest. Yet surprisingly, the men who are out of work and not seeking employment tend to be affiliated with Republicans rather than Democrats. According to Pew Research Center, 12% more men identified with the GOP than the Dems.

1. Absent a 'real' degree (STEM mostly) almost all entry level jobs pay for crap and most won't even cover expenses.
2. The jobs formerly done by those under 18 are generally being taken by adults, including retirees
3. Most of the young don't know how to work hard, they weren't taught that in school.
4. Skilled trade jobs require hard work and I suspect many of the young have been conditioned to think those jobs are beneath them.
5. Improvements in manufacturing and automation has reduced the number of employees needed.

Tennessee has really pushed STEM and physical skills in its secondary schools. Read recently that the unemployment rate is under 5% in all counties.

When I was in the dorms and they would blast the rap music so I could hear it through my walls, I put on the Royal Scots Dragoon Pipe and Drum band. NOTHING drowns out bag pipes. 5 minutes of that, and their music was at a much more reasonable volume. It only took twice for them to learn the lesson.

When we first moved to Raleigh 30 years ago, we visited the Carolina Beaches. My wife remarked ththere was a lot of construction along the way. I said no, that is RECONSTRUCTION after a hurricane had knocked them down.

“Credit goes to President Trump and his leadership,” Burgum said, discussing the improvements President Trump has made to D.C. ahead of the nation’s semiquincentennial. “In a city where — across the whole city — all these pocket parks, circle parks, triangle parks, city parks are all run by the National Park Service. So, President Trump just said we don’t have to accept squalor and homelessness. We don’t have to accept rundown graffiti-laden sites, and so under President Trump’s leadership, you know, we’ve removed 152 homeless camps,” he said, adding that the establishment media has ignored the fact that these homeless individuals have been taken care of and provided services as well.
“You can come every day. It’s public space. You just can’t live here, and we’re going to help you find someplace else to live, so that’s, you know, taken care of without controversy, without news, and then getting in and cleaning up some of these places, restoring fountains that haven’t worked for decades,” he said, adding that President Trump said he received more “love letters” about the fountains being restored than anything he’s ever done as president.
“Because residents of D.C., from whatever party, whatever political affiliation, they understand that beauty is a choice. This is a beautiful city with beautiful monuments, and heading into our 250th anniversary, President Trump cares deeply,” Burgum said.

We had a story of the church-burning response at the time here
.[Federalist] Five years ago, a moral panic gripped Canada over a story that was obviously fake but that so perfectly confirmed the biases of anti-Catholic liberals, no one in the media or the political establishment bothered to check its veracity.
This of course was the hoax about the purported discovery of "mass graves" of indigenous children at what was once a government boarding school run by the Catholic Church. In late May 2021, the Tk emlups te Secwrpem First Nation claimed that ground-penetrating radar had revealed hundreds of graves near the site of a former school in Kamloops, British Columbia. Tribal leaders cited the radar survey as proof that scores of indigenous Canadian children had been buried in unmarked mass graves at the school....
.. only problem was that it wasn't true. There were no mass graves, no gruesome discovery, and no conspiracy of bigoted Catholic schoolmasters. That much has been obvious for years, if it wasn't obvious enough when the story first appeared. Only now, five years later, The Globe and Mail, one of the major media outlets that helped perpetrate the hoax, has published an editorial mea culpa on the entire affair.
[Daily Caller] Liberals are finally getting fed up with Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, an oyster farmer and progressive populist with a long, scandalous history of caustic Reddit posts and a covered-up Nazi tattoo.
Platner pushed out centrist Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills in April and will likely face off against incumbent Republican Susan Collins, barring some wild turn of political events (Mills’ name will still be on the ballot for the state’s primary June 9). However, he has weathered a slew of scandals in recent months — many of which stem from re-surfaced Reddit posts, including one where he made excuses for sexual assault. Not to mention, his now-covered-up tattoo, which resembled a skull-and-crossbones emblem used by Nazi "Death’s Head" units.
Most recently, The Wall Street Journal reported that he messaged and sexted women outside his marriage on a shady and anonymous social media site known as Kick. According to the report, Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, alerted his campaign last summer regarding sexually explicit messages he exchanged with multiple women. Gertner discovered the communications in the spring of 2025 and informed a campaign staffer in late August, shortly after Platner began his candidacy. Platner and Gertner married in 2023.
Having stomached all the previous scandals, some liberals are now beginning to question Platner’s candidacy in light of the reported sexting scandal.

While there's some dispute about how specifically bad the call went, the fact that the split broke out into the open is the worst aspect of the exchange.
Late yesterday, Axios' Barak Ravid and Marc Caputo — who have provided reliable reporting on US-Israeli interactions — broke the news that Trump had went kaboom! at Netanyahu over his plans to attack Hezbollah in Beirut. According to the summary of the conversation from a "US official," Trump accused Netanyahu of being "f***ing crazy" and ungrateful for Trump's efforts to keep Bibi out of jail:
Why it matters: Earlier on Monday, Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... threatened to abandon the negotiations with the U.S. over Israel's actions in Leb ...The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. Only one of those statements is an exaggeration.... . On the call, Trump called Netanyahu "crazy" and accused him of ingratitude, according to two of the sources. He also put the brakes on Israel's plan to strike Beirut.
Behind the scenes: One U.S. official said Trump told Netanyahu that following through on his threats to bomb the Lebanese capital would further isolate Israel around the world.
Two of the sources said Trump claimed he'd helped keep Netanyahu out of jail — a reference to his support during Netanyahu's corruption trial.
Summarizing Trump's remarks to Netanyahu, the U.S. official said: "You're fucking crazy. You'd be in prison if it weren't for me. I'm saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this."
A second source briefed on the call said Trump was "pissed" and at one point yelled at Netanyahu: "What the fuck are you doing?"
Yikes.
The framing of this raises a question as to whether these are direct quotes from the conversation, or whether this is the official's "summary" of the content. The last bullet point is a quote, clearly, but the preceding bullet point — which made headlines — is apparently a summary of the content of the call. None of this indicates a friendly chat between close allies, which is the real story, and to which we'll return in a moment.
The distinction matters to some extent. The Israelis deny that the call got profane, although they do admit the conversation was tense. Also, the conversation took place over two calls, and the tension came from Israeli objections to the White House's spin on the first conversation:
The Tuesday report clarified that two calls took place between the leaders on Monday night, one at 7 p.m. Israel time and one close to midnight — the latter being the more tense call.
After the initial phone call, while Trump wrote on Truth Social that the IDF would not attack Beirut and that Israel and Hezbollah would refrain from attacking each other, Netanyahu warned that he would carry out his previous plans to strike Beirut if Hezbollah did not halt its attacks on northern Israel, and that Israel’s expanded offensive in southern Lebanon would continue.
The second phone call focused on mutual complaints by the two leaders regarding their respective readouts of the first call, according to the Channel 12 report, with Trump upset that Netanyahu had implied that, aside from postponing strikes in Beirut, the war was continuing at full intensity, and Netanyahu frustrated that Trump’s post implied that Israel had ceased fire on all fronts.
However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... the Israeli source denied that Trump cursed at or personally attacked Netanyahu, claimed to be protecting him from going to prison, or stated that the premier and Israel are hated around the world. "Trump did say during the second conversation that it is difficult to present Israel’s position to the world and that this fuels hostility toward it," the Israeli source was reported saying. "The conversation ended with understandings according to which Israel would refrain from carrying out the postponed strike in Beirut, provided that it is not attacked within its own territory," the source said.
In other words, the Israelis claim that the 'summary' in that second bullet point is entirely false. That makes it sound as though the "US official" was engaged in some axe-grinding rather than transcription of the call. Either way, though, it's pretty clear that the sources talking to Axios believe that the US controls Israel rather than the other way around, and that the US should be in charge of Israeli policy in this instance. That in itself may be valuable for debunking the anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on the Left and on the fringes of the Right, too.
Which version of the call is the more accurate? Not long after the second call, Trump posted this to Truth Social:
I had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon. He turned his Troops around. Thank you Bibi! I also had a conversation with Representatives of the Leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel, and its soldiers. Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them. Let’s see how long that lasts — Hopefully it will be for ETERNITY! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump posted this five hours after his first call to Netanyahu. Trump credited Netanyahu with the cessation, and then with Hezbollah for agreeing to it, with a qualifier: "Let's see how long that lasts." As it turns out ... not long at all:
Israel and Lebanon were set to hold a fresh round of talks on Tuesday, as Hezbollah continued to target Israeli troops in Lebanon and fresh IDF strikes were reported, despite indications from US President Donald Trump that Washington had brokered a truce between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group. ...
Despite the planned talks and the declared truce, Hezbollah appeared to continue its attacks on Tuesday morning, when sirens were triggered in the northern city of Kiryat Shmona and nearby border communities by a suspected drone over an area of southern Lebanon where troops were operating. A short time later the military said the incident had ended without injuries.
Overnight, the IDF said it had intercepted two Hezbollah rockets fired toward Safed, while an apparent Hezbollah drone struck a military position in the Western Galilee, close to the border with Lebanon. There were no injuries in either of those incidents.
Lebanon’s National News Agency said Israel conducted fresh Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s on south Lebanon on Tuesday morning.
Welcome to the Hezbollah version of the Hokey Pokey. This is the same dance perfected by Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... , and by Iran's regime as well. They do not negotiate in good faith, they do not adhere to agreements, and they use splits between allies with the effectiveness of narcissistic teenagers who find cracks in parental fronts on discipline.
That is what makes this story so bad, no matter what words were used in this conversation. Neither the US nor Israel can afford to let Iran split this coalition, especially at this stage. Trump seems to want a deal with Iran more than he wants an actual end to terrorism against the Israelis, and the Iranians are taking that as a lesson every day of the so-called ceasefire already. Letting White House aides leak this story to the press unnecessarily exposes a split between the two allies that the Islamists are already all too eager to exploit. Whatever momentary political benefit comes from this leak will be paid for in blood if and when the IRGC succeeds in exploiting it to get the diplomatic escape it desperately seeks. Hezbollah's offensive in Lebanon is designed to produce this very result, and if the White House can't see that, then Netanyahu has every reason to start acting on his own to end the threat on his northern border the best he can.
