Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully disrupted the movement of suspected terrorists in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, forcing them to retreat from their intended route.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 11:20 p.m. on May 30 by troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion following the detection of suspected insurgents through surveillance equipment.
The sources said troops observed the movement of suspected ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists advancing towards Chara area.
Upon confirming the movement, the troops immediately engaged the terrorists with targeted fire missions directed towards Dutsen Kura and Chara axis.
According to the sources, the action disrupted the terrorists’ movement and forced them to retreat in disarray.
“The insurgents were compelled to withdraw in confusion along the Bam-Buratai–Chara–Kamuya route towards Mangari following the troops’ fire mission,” a security source said.

Thanks to these precise locations, we can see that the camps are situated on the Burkinabe side of the border, north of this disputed area between the two countries. Contrary to the JNIM's claims, which state that this action took place on Beninese territory.
Furthermore, the Burkinabe army fatigues worn by some fighters in the propaganda images circulated after the attack raise questions about their origin.
ℹ️ The Koalou Triangle (Burkinabe name) or Korou (Beninese name) is a neutral zone of 68 km² on this border.
Benin refers to the 1938 border demarcation, while Burkina Faso considers that the border follows the course of the Pendjari River up to the approaches of the N18 bridge.

Mexican authorities have uncovered a sophisticated underground tunnel near the U.S.-Mexico border that was equipped with lighting, ventilation and an electronic transport system, which they say may connect Tijuana to a street in San Diego.
Mexico's Attorney General's Office, known as the FGR, announced the discovery Saturday following a search warrant executed at a property in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood of Tijuana, Baja California.
Authorities said the tunnel stretched approximately 265 meters, or about 870 feet, and reached a depth of roughly 6.3 meters, or 21 feet underground.
According to investigators, the tunnel contained operational infrastructure, including lighting and ventilation systems, as well as an electronic sliding mechanism designed to move items in both directions between Mexico and the U.S.
The tunnel was discovered through intelligence work conducted by agents with the FGR's Criminal Investigation Agency in coordination with Mexico's Security Cabinet.
Officials said the search warrant was executed as part of an investigation into alleged violations of Mexico's firearms and explosives laws as well as drug-related offenses.
Authorities said they believe the property may have functioned as a storage, logistics and trafficking center for firearms, explosives and illicit drugs.
Photos released by the FGR appear to show agents navigating the underground passageway, access points leading into the tunnel and evidence recovered during the operation.
Investigators said they recovered ammunition, suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, cell phones and various documents from the property.
Images released by Mexican authorities also appear to show ventilation infrastructure inside the tunnel, underscoring what officials described as a sophisticated operation.
The FGR said its investigation indicates the tunnel likely connects to a street in San Diego, though authorities have not publicly identified the location or confirmed whether the U.S. side of the tunnel has been located.
The tunnel discovery comes as U.S. authorities announced charges against four individuals accused of trafficking more than a ton of cocaine through a sophisticated cross-border tunnel stretching between Tijuana and San Diego.
According to federal prosecutors in San Diego, the tunnel extended approximately 1,933 feet, reached a depth of about 55 feet and was equipped with reinforced walls, electricity, ventilation systems and rail infrastructure.
Federal investigators said the tunnel connected Tijuana to a storefront in Otay Mesa known as "Buy 4 Less," where agents discovered a concealed exit point hidden beneath the floor of a storage room.

Four people were charged following a month-long federal drug investigation that led to the discovery of a cross-border tunnel stretching from a Tijuana home to a supposed discount store in Otay Mesa, officials said Monday.
The 1,933-foot-long passageway, which federal officials said was "among the most sophisticated" ever found along the San Diego border, was equipped with reinforced walls, a rail system, electricity and a ventilation system. It ran 55 feet underground, and the tunnel itself was 4.5 feet tall.
Investigators said the tunnel was being used to smuggle cocaine. Federal authorities seized 851 packages of the drug, weighing over 1 ton and estimated to be worth $45 million, as part of the operation, according to court records.
U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon said that it was believed the tunnel was the work of the Jalisco Nueva Generación cartel, also known by the acronym CJNG.
"For those defendants, they thought they saw a light at the end of the tunnel," Gordon said at a news conference Monday. "In fact, what they saw were our lights and sirens."
The four defendants, whose ages range from 18 to 32, made their initial appearances in San Diego federal court on Monday. A detention hearing to discuss possible bail has been set for Wednesday. Not gonna happen
The defendants are facing a charge of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and one of them is facing additional charges for conspiracy to use a cross-border tunnel and conspiracy to import controlled substances. Two of the defendants are from San Diego, and two from Mexico, officials said.

Tunnels are too $$ valuable for drug shipments to expose them with mass illegal importations, many of which will be arrested and squeal. They're still sending illegals in on panga boats in the Pacific, which are commonly intercepted.

I willing to bet that there are likely several others.
That'd be a good bet. This has been going on for a long time and it will no doubt continue. Cartels gotta smuggle fentanyl somehow. They can't just sit on all that inventory. But the tunnels can't be easy to dig and they are prone to discovery so with Trump securing the border it must be getting harder to smuggle.
As for Iranians, Chicoms, etc., I would imagine the fees the cartels must charge for human smuggling must also be getting higher, not that it would stop the CCP. Dunno how many are getting through these days.

From 1991-1995 I was the Commander of the Active Duty California National Guard Counter-Drug Task Force supporting the Border Patrol, US Customs Service and 75 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies throughout California. Our Team Engineer built the initial fencing and cross compartment road network improvements along the 14 mile stretch of US-Mexican Border from the Pacific Ocean to the top of Tin Can Hill in San Diego. We supported the DEA, USCS and the USBP in the discovery of tunneling running from a hangar complex at Tijuana Airport to a commercial trucking warehouse fairly proximate to Otay Mesa Commercial Inspection Facility. It had ventilation, electricity, a rail system, and powered lift inside the US warehouse to assist in moving weight. This was over 30 years ago, and was not the first discovered in that area. The tunnel was deep and well engineered, and it's location was verified by US Military assets from Korea that specialized in locating NORK tunneling activities along the DMZ. This is nothing new, just the latest chapter in a never ending Mexican effort to exploit the American drug appetite. Back then it was the Arellano-Felix cartel and illegals were a small side business, and there was no hint of Chinese involvement, and that part has changed it seems.

[Breitbart] Italian police officers on Monday arrested a 21 year-old Moroccan man on suspicion of "international terrorism" charges after content published by him on social media suggested he planned to carry out an attack similar to the one in Modena last month.
Italian outlets described the man as Zakaria Ben Haddi, born in Vimercate, Brianza to migrant parents from Morocco and who happens to turn 21 on Tuesday, June 02. He was detained by order of the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office after an investigation determined that Ben Haddi published social media posts "glorying Martyrdom" and the promotion of terrorism and attacks by radical Islam against the West and Christianity.
He also posted content glorifying the May 15 car-ramming attack in Modena, carried out by 31 year-old Salim El Koudri.
La Repubblica detailed that Ben Haddi constantly posted Islamic State propaganda videos on Instagram and TikTok. Chief Milan Prosecutor Marcello Viola reportedly detailed Ben Haddi underwent a "process of indoctrination and radicalization" over the internet and was arrested for presumptively having joined the Islamic State.
Recent analysis of Zakaria Ben Haddi’s social media pretense alarmed Italian authorities of a dangerous acceleration of ideological acceleration and led prosecutors believe that Ben Haddi was "on the verge" of carrying out a violent terrorist attack.

He further claimed that his scheduled trip to Morocco is because he has to "take an exam."
The Italian Public broadcaster Rai News explained that the investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of Zakaria Ben Haddi stems from the results of a broader efforts of Italian law enforcement that led to the arrest of an Italian-Albanian man allegedly linked to a online network of "young neo-Nazi and antisemitic extremists."
"This [Monday] morning’s arrest of a man residing in Brianza and charged with international terrorism once again demonstrates the effectiveness of the measures our country has implemented to combat the dangerous phenomenon of Islamist radicalization," Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said, per Rai News.

Since war broke out with Israel and the United States in February, Iran has ramped up executions, with many of the convicts hanged over the earlier protests.

The report did not specify the date of their arrest or trial.

"In the face of the threat of a military attack by the United States and the Zionist regime, the actions of these individuals... served as a pretext for the military aggression" in February, Mizan said, referring to the war.
Iran is the world’s second-most prolific executioner after China, according to rights groups including Amnesty International.
Authorities executed at least 1,639 people in 2025, a record since 1989, according to Iran Human Rights, a nonprofit based in Norway.
[Rudaw] Iranian authorities carried out more than 50 executions in May, a US-based human rights monitor reported on Monday, highlighting an increase in death sentences involving political prisoners as a comprehensive resolution to the Iran war stalls.
“During the past month, the Iranian regime carried out 55 executions,” the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) said in its monthly report, detailing that “twenty-two of the individuals had been sentenced to death on murder charges, while sixteen had been convicted of drug-related offenses,” and “two others were executed on charges of spreading corruption on earth - efsad-e fel-arz.”
The monitor also noted that the circumstances of two executions remain unclear.
Importantly, HRANA described as a “particularly notable development” the “execution of 13 individuals on political and security-related charges, including five people convicted of espionage,” further pointing to a rise in “the execution of political and security prisoners” in the wake of the Iran war.
The US and Israel in late February launched a large-scale aerial campaign against Iran, striking thousands of targets across the country during six weeks of hostilities.
In response, Tehran carried out thousands of drone and missile strikes across the Middle East, targeting alleged US assets in the region, as well as launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.
Iran and the US agreed to a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire on April 8, halting fighting to allow space for talks. While the first round of talks concluded without a final agreement on April 11, a second round has yet to take place.
Against the backdrop of the 40-day war, Tehran has repeatedly come under fire for accelerating executions, particularly of dissidents, fueling speculations of wartime reprisals.
In its Monday report, HRANA further noted that Iranian authorities “also confiscated the assets of 821 individuals” during the month of May, a practice that, according to decisions by Iran’s senior judicial officials, has intensified in light of the war and has been “particularly directed against opponents of the regime, especially those residing outside the country,” the rights monitor said.
Iran’s Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei in mid-April stated that the assets of the individuals who collaborate with “the aggressor” - an indirect reference to the US and Israel - must be “seized and confiscated for the benefit of the nation.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Police Chief Ahmad Reza Radan said in mid-May that authorities had arrested more than 6,500 “traitors to the homeland” and “spies” during and after the war.
In addition to political and security-related cases, HRANA recorded other types of human rights violations, including the dismissal of 551 workers across Iran for participating in protests for better labor rights and the killing of seven “kolbars [border smugglers] and fuel carriers” by direct shooting.
“Iranian courts also sentenced 35 individuals to a combined total of 3,575 months of imprisonment for expressing their views and opinions,” the HRANA report noted.
Global rights monitor Amnesty International in mid-May reported 2,707 executions worldwide in 2025, noting that the figure is the highest since the organization’s inception in 1981 and adding that Iran accounts for the overwhelming majority of executions.
“Executions in 2025 soared to the highest figure recorded by Amnesty International since 1981, with 2,707 people executed across 17 countries,” the organization’s Death Sentences and Executions 2025 report said, adding that the rise “was down to a handful of governments determined to rule by fear” and censuring Iranian authorities as “the main drivers behind the spike,” after executing “at least 2,159 people - more than double its 2024 figure.”
Iran has for decades been accused by rights monitors of using the death penalty as a systematic tool of political repression and social control, especially against marginalized groups - such as ethnic minorities, impoverished drug couriers, and low-level users - and dissidents to assert absolute dominance over populations that are most likely to protest.
The United Nations human rights chief in late April said he was “appalled” by a surge in executions in Iran, which has left at least 21 people executed since the outbreak of the six-week Iran war in late February, for their “alleged membership in opposition groups, and two on espionage charges.”
Volker Turk further censured Iranian authorities over the arrest of some 4,000 people during the same period.
