[FoxNews] Wylie ISD called the February display a 'clear violation of board policy' that was not reviewed or approved in advance
Outrage erupted after a "Why Islam?" table at a Texas high school handed out Qurans, pamphlets about Sharia law and hijabs in February.
A counter-response surfaced outside Wylie East High School on Tuesday; a table stocked with Bibles, miniature Jesus figures and bracelets set up near the parking lot before school.
Some participants also held signs reading, "Bibles Not Qurans," directly responding to the earlier Islam display.
Fox News Digital spoke with people at the demonstration, which included parents with kids in the district, local activists, students and organizers of the Bible handout. According to organizers, hundreds of Bibles were handed out.
The organizer of the event, local Dallas-Fort Worth radio host Chris Krok, said he was following the incident in February and his listeners suggested doing a Bible handout.
"My listeners and my podcast followers have been saying, 'Why don't you pass out Bibles? Why don't you pass out Bibles?' And so this came together over several months, several weeks of people asking over and over again," he said.
Krok shared that he, along with Wylie East student Marco Hunter-Lopez and the 16-year-old's father have been working together to expose the incident.
Hunter-Lopez sounded the alarm on the incident at his school, even going to Washington, D.C. Invited by Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, he testified on Capitol Hill on May 13 before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Constitution and Limited Government in a hearing titled, "Sharia-Free America."
When the school found out about the Bible handout, the Wylie ISD superintendent Kim Spicer, sent the following email to parents, including in part:
"I also want to be clear that Wylie ISD respects the rights of individuals to distribute religious materials in public spaces in accordance with the law, and groups are welcome to make Bibles available to students and families. At the same time, district procedures regarding outside groups, visitors, and the distribution of non-school materials on campus will be followed. Any distribution of materials must remain off school property, and if needed, district staff will communicate directly with individuals regarding appropriate options available under district procedures."
In an email obtained by Fox News Digital, sent out to parents from the superintendent, it was stated the materials at the 'Why Islam?' display were not reviewed or approved in advance.
The email included, "Wylie ISD does not allow the distribution of any religious materials to students, regardless of the group or message," called this a "clear violation of board policy" and expressed regret. The district added that the table came to meet with the Muslim Student Association to spotlight World Hijab Day.
Wylie East Principal Tiffany Doolan also addressed parents following the incident, in part saying, "What happened on Monday should not have happened. There were mistakes made, and it happened on my watch. I am the principal of Wylie East High School, and you have trusted me with your children. I owe it to them and to you to learn from this moment and to move forward with the kind of leadership and accountability this community deserves."
Krok claimed, "The principal, according to multiple student witnesses, overlooked while this was happening, watched on as this was happened, hence approval. You can't get into this school unless you go through a locked area and you have a signature of the principal and advisor."
Wylie ISD refuted this in a statement to Fox News Digital,
"The four adult women did not bypass security procedures. They arrived at the front entrance, pressed the buzzer, presented identification, and then entered the front office, which serves as a security vestibule. They then went through the normal visitor process, scanned their IDs through the district’s visitor management system, and stated they were there to meet with the Muslim Student Association. Campus staff followed multiple required procedures; however, they failed to verify in the system whether the required guest speaker form had been submitted. Had that final step been completed, staff would have seen that the form had not been submitted, and the individuals would not have been permitted to meet with the student organization or leave the front office."
Hunter-Lopez claimed, "The principal was there that day looking on, and we actually have photos of her from two previous years wearing the hijab and promoting Islamic events. So this is not an isolated incident. So even if policies were broken, the principal looked on and did nothing about it, so we know she was just A-OK with it." Perhaps she should become more familiar with "stoning"?
On Instagram, the principal's account @raidernationprincipal shows Doolan wearing a hijab with students in 2025 with the caption, "Yesterday, our MSA created an opportunity for everyone to experience the beauty of wearing a hijab on World Hijab Day! I LOVED this experience!"
Krok said they were going to "follow the rules" and share their faith in response.
"If Islamic people are allowed into this school to proselytize, we're going to show up and we're going to stand up against it. And we're saying you cannot proselytize in there. Come out here like we are."
Local activist Justin "JB" Bennett, a Collin County GOP precinct chairman, used the Bible handout opportunity to discuss the importance of faith and Jesus and rejected the notion that this was a protest.

[FoxNews] War Secretary Pete Hegseth touted the removal of DEI in the US military, saying 'you can't throw your pronouns at the enemy'
The United States Army reached its recruiting goals for 2026 four months early, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth revealed during a commencement speech Saturday at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
"Recruitments are up across the joint force, and I'm pleased to announce that, just two days ago, the U.S. Army met its 2026 recruiting goals four months early," Hegseth said.
"A second record year in a row. That means you're about to train this group right here and lead 61,500 new soldiers. And next year, when we grow the size of the army, it will be even more when you're out there in your formations as platoon leaders at the tip of the spear. You will be at the tip of the spear of their snapback."
In 2025, the Army set a goal of 61,000 and exceeded it with 62,050, according to the Pentagon.
"The men and women who chose to serve our nation are actively showing their commitment to something larger than themselves," Command Sgt. Maj. Danny Basham, United States Army Recruiting Division command sergeant major, said in a statement. "The nation depends on their strength, character and commitment."
During Hegseth's speech, the war secretary also criticized previous military policy of focusing on diversity goals and "anti-American ideologies."
"They embraced the DEI craze and tried to introduce diversity and inclusion studies, and they hired professors who advocated for anti-American ideologies right here in these halls. But no more. West Point is set apart. It's special. It's above politics. Success here is based on merit. It's how you perform that matters. This is the United States Military Academy," he said.
"The single dumbest phrase in military history was peddled in our army only a few short years ago. You've all heard it, maybe in your first two years at West Point. Our diversity is our strength. The single dumbest phrase in military history," he said.
"We had generals saying this with a straight face on national television. It was absolute nonsense. Now, these sorts of silly things can be laughed at when they occur in a civilian lounge or civilian faculty lounge or debated in graduate seminars, but they cannot be tolerated in our formations. These ideas are what get people killed. Diversity is not our strength. Unity is our strength," Hegseth said, garnering applause.
He continued to praise the graduating cadets and painted a picture of a dangerous world confronting them.
"You're in a dangerous line of work, and there is no world in which high intensity conflict exists without great pain, agony, sickness and human tragedy. In this War Department, we raise up warriors. Purpose built, not for good weather, blue skies or fancy parades. We're built to load up on the back of helicopters, C-17s or Strykers in the dead of night, in fair weather or foul, to go to dangerous places, to engage those who would do our nation and our citizens harm and deliver justice in close and brutal combat on behalf of the American people," he continued.
"But what makes us different is that we don't fight because we hate what's in front of us. We fight because we love what's behind us. Our family, our freedom and our flag. The battlefield does not grade on a curve, and you can't throw your pronouns at the enemy. Combat is the ultimate test, and our best Americans must ace it."
Hegseth's speech touched heavily upon faith as he read a verse from Isaiah 6:8.
"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' and I said 'Here I am! Send me,'" Hegseth read.
"Send me is the timeless, selfless call to service."
He also invoked Charlie Kirk while imploring the cadets to seek God always.
"As Charlie Kirk often said, 'Remember always, this too shall pass.' The good times will pass. The bad times will pass. You're never as good as you think you are, nor are you as bad as you think you are. Seek God in every circumstance," he said.
Hegseth delivered his speech Saturday as the U.S. is considering resuming fresh military actions against Iran as a peace deal hangs in the balance. The war secretary discussed what was asked of the U.S. military during Operation Epic Fury.
"Your soldiers must be ready for anything because the world is only getting more complex. Just look at what our soldiers have done in just the last few months alone. We've asked our airborne and rapid reaction forces to deploy at a moment's notice to the Middle East, standing as an iron shield to protect American bases and American lives from Iranian proxies.
"This includes American Army units using HIMARS to help sink the Iranian Navy. I know the Army loves sinking the Navy. That's the only navy you're currently allowed to sink," Hegseth joked, referencing the known friendly rivalry between the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
President Donald Trump is holding a conference call Saturday afternoon with Arab leaders to get their opinions on a draft agreement with Iran. The president reportedly told Axios earlier Saturday he's a "solid 50/50" on whether a "good" deal could be reached or else "blow them to kingdom come."

The interesting aspect is standards for service are met. It's a very small part of the potential population that qualify for entry because of those standards.
[TWZ] Trump’s White House ballroom, the controversy that keeps on giving, will of course be much more than just a ballroom and offices. This was always a given. Taking down an entire wing of the White House would be seen as the biggest opportunity in generations to install modernized hardened infrastructure at the most famous, most threatened, and highest-security house in America. Now, thanks to a remarkably detailed monologue and question-and-answer session from President Trump, we are learning a lot more about exactly what the ballroom’s security and military features will include, and just how deep the facility will go. The big takeaway here is that while it may be branded a ballroom, it’s really a fortress too — one with some very specialized and even somewhat puzzling capabilities.
The fact that the ballroom is as much of a military and security services installation as it is its stated function comes as the administration seeks a billion dollars in new funding from Congress for the U.S. Secret Service. Of that money, $220 million would go toward the facility, while the rest would go to other efforts to enhance security around the complex. The total cost of the ballroom project has previously been estimated to be $400 million. Trump had said in the past that private donors would pay for the construction — another controversial aspect of the project.
The last time a major bunker complex was installed below the White House grounds was roughly a decade and a half ago, under President Barack Obama. During that period, a large but secretive project saw the installation of an expansive underground facility, supposedly five stories deep, beneath the North Lawn. This facility was far larger and more elaborate than the President’s Emergency Operations Center — the PEOC — that was built below the now destroyed East Wing and dates back, at least in part, to around World War II. This facility was made famous by the tragic events of 9/11.

The Government of Mali has lodged a formal diplomatic protest with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over recent media reports concerning the security situation in northern Mali, particularly around the Kidal region.
The protest follows broadcasts by Saudi-based media outlets Al Arabiya and Al Hadath, which Bamako described as misleading and damaging to the image of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa).
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 17, 2026, the Malian authorities accused journalist Ibrahim Moustapha, correspondent for the two networks, of entering the country “illegally” and operating in “flagrant violation of Mali’s sovereignty.”
The government further alleged that the journalist may have had links with armed groups operating in the region, an accusation the authorities extended to the content of the reports aired by the networks, which Bamako described as “false, unfounded and aimed at undermining national institutions.”
The reports in question reportedly focused on security developments in northern Mali, including the Kidal axis, an area where state authority has faced persistent challenges from armed groups.
The diplomatic note also warned that such reporting could strain relations between Mali and Saudi Arabia, a country Bamako described as a “long-standing friend and partner.”

The appeals court annulled the congress over irregularities and ruled that former Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu — a divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... figure within the party who lost to Erdogan in an election earlier in 2023 — should replace his successor, Ozel.
The case was seen as a test of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... member, but not the most reliable... ’s shaky balance between democracy and autocracy, and the ruling may throw the opposition into further disarray and possible infighting. It could also boost Erdogan’s chances of extending his more than two-decade rule of the big NATO member country and major emerging market economy.
The CHP rejected the ruling as an "attempted coup," while the government — which denies criticism that it uses courts to target political opponents — said it renewed Turks’ faith in the rule of law.
OPPOSITION HIT BY JUDICIAL CRACKDOWN
The secular and centrist CHP, running roughly even with Erdogan’s Islamic-rooted and conservative ruling AKP Justice and Development Party in polls, has also faced an unprecedented judicial crackdown since 2024, in which hundreds of members and elected officials have been detained as part of corruption charges that the party denies.
Among those imprisoned for more than a year is Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who is Erdogan’s main rival and the CHP’s official candidate for a presidential election set for 2028, but that could come next year.
Ozel, the CHP’s combative chair, who has risen to prominence since Imamoglu’s arrest, convened party leaders to discuss a response to the court ruling, while protests were planned.
He said his party applied to the Supreme Court of Appeals to object to the ruling
Ozel called the court ruling "a coup against people" and said he expected the higher court to overturn the ruling and "save Turkey from a disaster," adding his party will resist the ruling.
Ali Mahir Basarir, CHP deputy parliamentary group chair, told Rooters the ruling "is an attempted coup carried out through the judiciary (and) a blow against the will of 86 million people." Those behind it "will be held accountable before the courts," he said.
MARKET FALLS ON LATEST POLITICAL TURMOIL
Turkey’s main Borsa Istanbul dropped 6 percent in response, triggering a market-wide circuit breaker, while government bonds slid. The central bank sold billions of dollars in forex to ease the fallout, four traders said.
In March last year, Imamoglu’s detention sparked a selloff that sent inflation expectations higher and temporarily reversed a rate-cutting cycle. Investors said the latest political turmoil would be watched for similar risks.
The ruling by the Ankara court overturned a decision last year by a court of first instance that said the case surrounding the CHP’s 2023 congress had no substance.
The pro-Kurdish DEM Party, parliament’s third-largest, called the court decision a "black stain" on Ottoman Turkish democracy.
The reinstated CHP leader Kilicdaroglu, who had largely faded from public view since his electoral defeat three years ago, called for calm and common sense and said he hoped Turkey would benefit from it.

[FoxNews] Tuesday's primaries produced outright wins, apparent victories and runoff advancements for more than a dozen candidates linked to or backed by the DSA, including candidates for Congress, state legislatures, and local offices such as mayor and city council. One of the biggest victories came in Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District, where Chris Rabb, a sitting state representative and self-identified democratic socialist, won the Democratic primary.
Rabb is running unopposed in the November general election, which will lead him to becoming DSA’s second nationally endorsed member of the U.S. House of Representatives, according to the organization.
DSA’s election night live blog described the results for its "ambitious slate of candidates" as "rosy," adding, "There is a new Democratic Socialist in Congress," following Rabb's primary win since he will be running unopposed.

Leftist politicians in the New York State government on Friday announced a bill targeting nonprofits linked to settlements, resurrecting a previous failed legislative effort by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani first introduced the so-called Not on our Dime legislation in 2023 while he was a state assemblymember, before becoming mayor.
Jewish groups opposed that bill because they said it would have punished charities that operate in settlements, but do not advance settlement activity, such as volunteer ambulances, and would have effectively stripped nonprofit status from a swath of Jewish organizations.
The far left has made inroads in New York since then, and Democrats ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy,white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. The bill, and Mamdani’s support for the effort, will likely further strain ties between mainstream Jewish organizations and the mayor and energize the anti-Zionist movement in New York.
With the new bill announced during the Shavuot holiday, there was no immediate response from Jewish groups.
The new legislation, also called Not on our Dime, is led by representatives Diana Moreno in the State Assembly and Jabari Brisport in the State Senate.
Moreno is a democratic socialist like Mamdani and represents Mamdani’s former district in Queens, and Brisport is a leftist ally of the mayor who, alongside him, sponsored the previous attempt to pass the legislation.
Moreno said in a statement that the new bill will "bar New York nonprofits from funding Israeli war crimes."
"New Yorkers have a basic responsibility to ensure that our tax dollars aren’t funding war crimes and human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... violations," she said.
No Israelis have been convicted of war crimes, but allegations of war crimes are often used as a cudgel against Jewish groups for their connections to the Jewish state.
Mamdani backed Moreno, saying in a statement that he was "grateful" that Moreno and Brisport "are carrying this work forward."
The new bill is largely the same as Mamdani’s 2023 legislation, and another attempt he made to pass the legislation in early 2025. Both those bills failed to pass into law.
The text says the measure will "prohibit not-for-profit corporations from engaging in unauthorized support of Israeli settlement activity" by changing the state’s not-for-profit corporation law.
The bill defines support of settlement activity as "aiding and abetting" any settlement activity by Israeli armed forces, the Israeli government, or Israeli citizens.
The legislation would allow the state attorney general to dissolve the nonprofit status of groups that are "knowingly engaging in unauthorized support of Israeli settlement activities" and fine them $1 million.
Paleostinians who said they were harmed by a violation would also be allowed to sue the nonprofits.

During the interview with journalist Chris Hedges, Baroud spoke candidly about his cousin, Ehab al-Badrasawi, whom he described as "the head of the northern command of Hamas’ Izz ad-Din al-Qassam military arm of Hamas." Baroud recounted learning of his cousin’s role during a 2012 trip to Gaza.
Baroud also described Ehab’s involvement in the battle for Gaza’s Shati refugee camp following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war after October 7. According to Baroud, his cousin returned personally to the battlefield during intense fighting after younger Hamas fighters became fearful. "He needed to do something so extreme before he dies, that he would change the dynamics of the Shati battle," Baroud said. Hedges then summarized the incident by stating that Ehab walked into the open and fired on an Israeli tank, after which Baroud said his cousin "went kaboom!," followed later by his sons Abdulrahman al-Rahman and Muhammad.
Social media posts from both Baroud and his daughter, Zarefah Baroud, who serves as head of digital marketing for American Moslems for Paleostine, one of the main drivers behind anti-Israel protests on US college campuses, eulogized Ehab al-Badrasawi and his son Abdulrahman following their deaths in Gaza. Critics note that those tributes described them as victims of Israeli actions but did not reference their alleged roles within Hamas or Baroud’s later comments about suicide operations.
Photos circulating online reportedly show Ehab al-Badrasawi alongside Hamas co-founder Abdel Aziz al-Rantisi during earlier years. Other relatives mentioned in connection to Hamas include Naseer al-Badrasawi and Muhammad al-Badrasawi, whom social media posts referred to as "deaders." Zarefah Baroud also reportedly visited Gaza in 2022 and met with several family members later identified online as linked to Hamas.
The controversy surrounding Baroud and The Paleostine Chronicle comes amid an ongoing federal lawsuit in the United States. Earlier this year, a federal judge ruled that a lawsuit filed by three former Israeli hostages against the outlet may proceed to discovery and trial. The suit was brought by Almog Meir Jan, Shlomi Ziv, and Andrey Kozlov, who were kidnapped during the October 7 Hamas attack on the Nova Music Festival and later rescued by the Israel Defense Forces after months in captivity.
The lawsuit alleges that The Paleostine Chronicle, operated by the nonprofit People Media Project, knowingly employed Abdallah Aljamal, a Gaza-based writer and former Hamas front man accused of participating in the hostages’ captivity. According to the complaint, Aljamal continued contributing articles to the outlet while allegedly holding hostages in his family home.
US District Judge Tiffany Cartwright denied the outlet’s motion to dismiss the case, writing that the plaintiffs had presented enough evidence to support a "reasonable inference" that the organization may have known about Aljamal’s Hamas connections. "Plaintiffs allege that Defendants had actual knowledge that Aljamal was a Hamas operative in the months following the October 7 attacks," Cartwright wrote in the ruling.
The plaintiffs argue that by providing Aljamal with a platform and compensation, the nonprofit effectively provided material support to a US-designated terrorist organization. Attorneys representing the hostages also contend that the outlet’s tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status meant American taxpayers indirectly subsidized Hamas propaganda efforts.
The Paleostine Chronicle has denied wrongdoing and has argued it did not know Aljamal’s alleged role in the kidnappings. “What resilience means to us is that we have power, no matter what, 24/7,” Dr. Jeff Waksman, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, said during a media roundtable attended by TWZ at last week’s Association of the U.S. Army’s (AUSA) main annual conference.
Waksman’s comments followed a briefing earlier in the day at which Army Secretary Daniel P. Driscoll and Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Christopher Wright jointly announced the launch of the Janus Program.
“The U.S. Army is leading the way on fielding innovative and disruptive technology,” Driscoll said. “We are shredding red tape and incubating next-generation capabilities in a variety of critical sectors, including nuclear power.”
Janus is the Army’s plan to realize President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14299, titled “Deploying Advanced Nuclear Reactor Technologies for National Security,” which directs the Department of War to commence operation of an Army-regulated nuclear reactor at a domestic military installation no later than September 30, 2028.

In exchange, as part of the proposed deal, the US will lift its blockade on Iranian ports and issue some sanctions waivers to allow Iran to sell oil freely, the report adds.
The draft agreement also includes commitments from Iran to never pursue nuclear weapons and to negotiate over a suspension of its uranium enrichment program and the removal of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, the Axios report says.
The MOU also makes clear that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah will end, the report says.
Israel will be permitted to strike Hezbollah if the terror group instigates or carries out attacks, the report says.
“If Hezbollah behaves, Israel will behave,” the US official says. “Bibi has his domestic considerations, but Trump has the interests of the US and the global economy to think about.”

The report says that if Tehran is willing to meet Trump’s demands over its nuclear program, there’s an opportunity for ties between the countries to be “reset” and Iran to try to reach full economic potential.
The White House does not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment on the report.
According to the officials, Iran has committed in a general statement to giving up the uranium, rather than reaching an agreement with the US on exactly how it will relinquish it. Instead, the exact details will be worked out during the negotiations that will begin once a deal is reached.
The report comes days after Iranian sources claimed that Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, had issued a directive that the near-weapons-grade uranium should not be sent abroad.
Iran has a stockpile of more than 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium in its possession, which Israeli officials have said is sufficient for 11 nuclear bombs if enriched further.
Earlier this month, a senior Israeli military official said if the uranium wasn’t removed, the war launched in February could be considered “one big failure.”
