The Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) group has claimed responsibility for an attack on security forces in Kirtachi area of Niger Republic, alleging that seven security personnel were captured during the assault.
In a statement circulated on jihadist-linked channels, the group also displayed images purportedly showing the captured personnel alongside weapons and equipment allegedly recovered during the attack.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Tillabéri region, an area that has witnessed repeated attacks by armed groups operating along the Niger-Mali-Burkina Faso border corridor.
The claim comes amid growing concerns over the deteriorating security situation in parts of the Sahel, where attacks targeting military positions and civilian communities have continued despite intensified counterterrorism operations by regional forces.
Local observers and commentators reacting to the incident criticised what they described as inadequate public acknowledgment of casualties suffered by security personnel in such attacks.

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), under Operation DESERT SANITY and SIEGE OPERATIONS, have successfully thwarted attempted attack by suspected ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists on troops location in the Kirawa axis of Sector 1 OPHK Area of Responsibility in the early hours of 22 May 2026. A number of the suspected terrorists attempted to infiltrate positions held by troops of 153 Task Force Battalion and associated forces along the Nigeria–Cameroon border axis. The attack was swiftly detected and met with overwhelming firepower from alert troops and CJTF, who held their ground and contained the assault.
The terrorists were forced to abort their mission and withdraw in confusion towards the Cameroon axis, sustaining heavy casualties during the engagement. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance assets, alongside platforms of Air Component of OPHK and partner forces, provided coordinated support throughout the operation. Following the encounter, troops confirmed the neutralisation of 12 terrorists, while several others were observed retreating with gunshot wounds, as indicated by blood trails along their withdrawal routes. Recovered items include AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenade systems, ammunition, and a PKT machine gun, further degrading the terrorists’ combat capability in the area.
[Breitbart] The West Yorkshire Police have revealed that twenty members of a grooming gang have been sentenced to a collective 277 years behind bars over the sexual exploitation of young girls in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Following the conclusion of six separate trials, which began at the Leeds Crown Court in July 2023, court reporting restrictions have finally been lifted on the cases against 20 people involved in the sexual exploitation of young girls in Kirklees.
The West Yorkshire Police said that the grooming offences were largely committed in Batley and Dewsbury against three girls, including one who was just 12 years old when she was first sexually exploited by the group. The force said the offences occurred between 1995 and 2003.
DCI Rob Stevens of Kirklees District Police said they came as a result of a major investigation into the “appalling sexual abuse of vulnerable girls in Kirklees by a large number of sexual predators.”
DCI Stevens said that the victims were “repeatedly sexually assaulted” and in some cases given Class A drugs by their abusers. He said that juries in the trials heard “some shocking revelations about the dreadful way victims were abused by those involved.”
Those convicted included:
Ansar Mahmood Qayum, age 49, from Dewsbury, sentenced to 10 years for three offences of rape and two offences of indecent assault. This sentence was added to an existing 20 sentence imposed on Qayum at court in a separate trial in another case in 2022, making a total sentence of 30 years
Sajid Majid, aged 53, from Mirfield , sentenced to 28 years for five offences of rape and three offences of indecent assault.
Manaf Hussain, aged 51, from Heckmondwike, sentenced to 25 years for six offences of rape and an offence of supplying Class A drugs.
Tariq Azam, aged 57, from Dewsbury, sentenced to 24 years for five offences of rape and four offences of indecent assault.
Zulfiqar Ali, aged 47, from Dewsbury, sentenced to 22 years, six months for four offences of rape.
Aurrangzeb Azam, aged 56 , from Dewsbury, sentenced to 20 years for ten offences of rape and an offence of indecent assault.
Shakeel Haq, aged 58, from Birmingham, sentenced to 19 years for three offences of rape and an offence of false imprisonment.
Rafiq Patel , aged 73, from Batley was sentenced to 18 years for two offences of rape.
Zaheed Ali Novsarka, aged 58, from Batley, sentenced to 18 years for two offences of rape.
Mohammed Sheikh, aged 53, from Batley, sentenced to 14 years for two offences of rape and two offences of indecent assault.
Mohammed Yasin, aged 52, from Batley, sentenced to 14 years for an offence of rape and two indecent assaults.
Liaquat Hussain Hanif, aged 49, from Batley, sentenced to 12 years, six months for two offences of rape and an offence of supplying Class A drugs.
Ebrahim Mananiat, aged 56, from Batley, sentenced to 12 years for two offences of rape.
Ibrahim Khalifa, aged 87, from Bradford, sentenced to 11 years for two offences of rape.
Shafiq Siddique, aged 56, from Dewsbury, sentenced to 11 years for an offence of rape.
Mohammed Munir Shaffi, aged 48 from Dewsbury, sentenced to nine years for two offences of rape.
Mohammed Ishtiaq Hussain, aged 51, from Dewsbury, sentenced to eight years for an offence of rape.
Abbas Kaji, aged 57, from Batley, sentenced to seven years for an offence of rape.
Donna Lynn, aged 45, from Cleckheaton, sentenced to three years for an offence of controlling prostitution.
Tasawar Hussain, aged 46, from Dewsbury, sentenced to three years for an offence of rape.

speaking of Parliament, I'm pretty sure some MPs were involved with the grooming gangs. Maybe did so using false ID, maybe not. Also, pretty sure some 'law enforcement' helped the MPs.

How many times do I long for news from the UK about the return of Hanging, Drawing and Quatering.
[Breitbart] Some 394 illegals successfully crossed the English Channel from Dunkirk in France on Friday, the Daily Mail reported. This marked the first crossings in nearly two weeks, a lull largely due to inclement weather.
While nearly 8,000 boat migrants have made the often perilous journey since the start of the year, there has been a recorded decline of 44 per cent since last year, and 23 per cent over 2024. However, it remains to be seen whether the numbers will stay lower as the weather improves.
Regardless, the last crossings take the total to over 200,000 since the migrant crisis in the Channel began nine years ago.
They also come just weeks after the left-wing Labour Party government agreed to hand over another £662 million ($890m) to the French to pay for police patrols of people-smuggling hotspots along the Calais coastline.
This is on top of the near billion pounds sterling that previous Tory governments have committed to Paris, with little to show for it.
Although this agreement will see some UK taxpayer cash devoted to fund a team of maritime officers specialising in intercepting boats at sea, the French have only agreed to enforce any turnarounds against vessels with fewer than 20 migrants, over supposed safety concerns.

When this mass illegal migration thing started ramping up, I happened to be reading "The Camp of the Saints" (Jean Raspail 1973), a novel about a massive uncontrolled migration of Third Worlders into Europe which collapses Western Civilization. It is a well-written novel, but I found the premise preposterous. No way would the Euros let this happen!
So it was quite surreal watching the story play out in real time as I turned the pages. Still seems like a bad idea.

An emergency was declared at the local hospitals receiving the wounded, with doctors reporting at least 20 are in critical condition.
The bomb went off in an area where security forces are usually stationed and was reportedly followed by gunfire.
Photos from the site show that several buildings were damaged, along with more than a dozen cars parked along the road - some of which were completely burnt out.
A mangled train carriage lay on its side as people clambered over the wreckage to find survivors.
People could be seen carrying blood-soaked victims on stretchers away from a derailed car, while armed security forces stood guard.

A soldier was killed Friday by a drone near the Lebanese border, the Israel Defense Forces announced Saturday.
The slain soldier was named as Staff Sgt. Noam Hamburger, 23, a technology and maintenance soldier in the 401st Brigade, from Atlit in northern Israel.
Another soldier was reportedly seriously maimed and a non-commissioned officer was lightly hurt in the same incident. Both were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.
A second explosive drone was said to have fallen in the same area of northern Israel roughly 25 minutes later, causing no injuries.

As the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah continued, the Lebanese terror group said Saturday that Iran assured it Tehran would not abandon Hezbollah and that the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s latest proposal to end the US-Iran war included a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Also on Saturday, the IDF released footage of a combat military photographer who was seriously maimed earlier in the week by a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon.
According to the military, the officer, whom the military identified by the Hebrew letter Shin, had joined troops of the 601st Battalion in the 401st Brigade during an operation in the area of the Lebanese town of Haddatha, aimed at locating and dismantling Hezbollah terror infrastructure and weapons caches.

Separately, Lebanon’s military said an Israeli strike on Saturday targeted an army barracks in the south, wounding a soldier.
The Lebanese army said in a statement that "a soldier was moderately maimed due to the hostile Israeli targeting of an army barracks in the city of Nabatieh."
The IDF later said the strike targeted a suspicious vehicle that exited a Hezbollah site in the Nabatieh area.
According to the military, troops identified the vehicle "driving suspiciously," leading Israeli forces "to remove the threat."
The IDF said it was aware of reports that a Lebanese army soldier was maimed in the attack and that the incident was under investigation.
