As Twitchy readers know, the fiction writers ... err, we mean 'journalists' ... at The Atlantic covered themselves in shame (again) this weekend with a libelous hit piece on FBI Director Kash Patel. As usual, there were no sources behind the smears, just anonymous 'people close to the situation.' It was so predictably bad that Harmeet Dhillon called it out as the last gasp of a dead legacy media. (And, shocker of all shockers, the author was also responsible for equally baseless and defamatory rumors about Brett Kavanaugh.)
It's enough to make people ask, 'What kind of world do we live in where the apparatchik press is free to slander public officials like this with no accountability?'
Welp. This morning, The Atlantic answered that question. Apparently, the world where subversive journos can defame people in government is exactly the world of ... Nazi-occupied France?

1959 here. We had computer advantages over older boomers. We did fine.
Well enough, certainly, and some of us did, as you point out, Penguin dear, very well indeed. (I certainly cannot complain about my material situation, though with a peak full time income of $25,000/year before retiring from the lists in 1989 to take up the home front, and just sense enough not to spend more than the household budget, it was none of my doing.) But on average our mini-cohort’s career advancement was slower, and our accumulation of assets considerably slower, than the older Boomers. Mr. Wife would have been at least a level higher — with up to 300 reports — had he started with his employer five years earlier, instead finishing as a department head with 40 people. No complaints about his career path, but that’s just the reality.

As I tell folks who ask, I was born when Truman was President, King George Vi was the UK ruler, Churchill was Prime Minister (although for a very short time previous) and Stalin was dictator.
I've seen a bit, done a bit and have always supported Israel, as did my parents and grandparents.

I remember the Yom Kippur War quite well. I remember the Arab Oil Embargo, the gas lines and Nixon sending C130's full of ammo right up to the front lines so the IDF wouldn't run out. I remember quite well the inflation, recession and unemployment. Then we got jimmuh carter and things got even worse. Arabs liked Russians and Israelis liked Americans and Israelis kicked Arab ass. But jimmuh made the Israelis give the Sinai back to Egypt and paid the Egyptians $2 billion a year not to make war on Israel anymore. Yes. I remember and I'm still here feeling quite robust. I only have to get up two or three times a night to pee but that gives me a chance to make sure the house and yard are secure.

When I was born, Stalin still had a firm grip on the Soviet Union but had not yet acquired The Bomb. All that changed soon afterwards and then I learned about radioactive fallout. Such memories. Hell, I remember Khruschev banging his shoe on the podium at the UN and saying they would bury us. But that never happened.

I just looked at some numbers this weekend, I was surprised. I thought dislike hovered at 1/3. But I was wrong, Jewish unfavorability was about 50%. No matter the question, if it could be blamed on the jews, it was. Usually landing around 50%.
The Venn Diagram for NYT Liberal and NYC Jew way overlap too. I'm starting to think there might be more Jew Commies in the world, than any other type of commie. Jew Liberals, if not out right commie, are definitely some of the worst liberals in the planet. And liberals are definitely a Threat To The West and our way of life, especially our Heritage and Culture.
That all said, Gen Z consumes their news from social media and the Web. Social Media and the Web have jew bias, so Gen Z will too. It will be a hard bias to correct.

I was 27 years old and stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1973 when the war started. We'd just experienced the terrorist attack at the Munich Olympics, and most of us I was stationed with had no sympathy with the Arabs. Not much has changed, as the history of the Muddled East continues to repeat, over and over, just with different proxies.

Born in 1949. I think I have not diminished intellectually. I have become more outspoken.; it used to be deeds, not words ~10 years in the Army, Airborne Infantry NCO, then MIT and Harvard. Physical Chemistry. Wife, kids, all successful. Still working, albeit more slowly. And very happy.

[DeutscheWelle] Is it true that the crime rate in Germany is higher among immigrants? Statistics suggest as much, but numbers by themselves can be misleading. An expert explains what's behind them.
Ahead of the presentation of the 2025 figures for crime in Germany by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), Susann Prätor has shared her thoughts on the issue of nationality and statistics. She is a sociologist, psychologist and legal scholar. Her work as an expert on crime draws on these diverse perspectives.
More than a third of all suspects are not German citizens. About 16% of the total population of Germany don't have German citizenship, yet they accounted for roughly 34% of suspects in crimes as diverse as theft, burglary and violent mostly peaceful crimes.
However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... according to Prätor, comparing figures in police crime statistics is often like comparing apples to oranges — in other words, comparing two things that are fundamentally different and thus misleading to compare.
YOUNG MEN ARE THE MOST PRONE TO CRIMINAL ACTIVITY WORLDWIDE
Prätor, who is a professor with the police academy in the state of Lower Saxony, cites age and gender as key factors. Both play a major role in criminal activity regardless of ethnic background, as the number of young male suspects has always been disproportionately high. Prätor considers such factors to be highly relevant when interpreting statistics.
"Non-Germans are, on average, significantly younger than Germans," says the expert, adding: "Young men are a demographic group that frequently stand out for their involvement in criminal activity, not only in Germany but worldwide."
And, perhaps more crucially, "studies show that people perceived as foreign are more likely to be reported to police," Prätor adds. According to a 2024 study by the Criminological Institute of Lower Saxony, non-Germans were reported nearly three times as often as Germans.
CRIMES THAT ARE NOT REPORTED
The researcher hopes that studies on unreported crime will provide greater clarity on context and causes. In such studies, as many people as possible are randomly selected and surveyed about their experiences with crime. This approach yields additional insights into crimes that remain unreported and therefore do not appear in any statistics.
Susann Prätor explains this method allows for a more nuanced understanding, as it permits space to question victims and perpetrators alike about possible underlying or contributing factors. "And I'm not facing the problem of only seeing the crime that has officially come to light," she adds.
When it comes to young people, there are already good studies on unreported crime, says Prätor. "They show that the living conditions of immigrants colonists differ greatly from those of Germans," she explains. Factors such as domestic violence, lower levels of education, criminal peer groups and an emphasis on masculinity are cited as contributing factors.
A closer look at suspects' nationalities also gives a sense of just how complex the topic of migrant crime rates is. In 2024, just under 13% of suspects were from Ukraine. Compared to the proportion of Ukrainian refugees living in Germany (35.7%), this is a strikingly small number. It is worth noting in this case that the overwhelming majority of Ukrainian refugees are women and kiddies.
As for people from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Georgia, the reverse is true. About three percent of suspects come from these countries, but they account for less than one percent of refugees registered in Germany.
The second largest group of refugees comes from Syria, making up one fifth of all refugees in Germany. Around 900,000 live in Germany, while around 115,000 Syrian were identified as suspects by the police in 2024. Here, too, it is worth pointing out that the majority of Syrian asylum seekers in Germany are young and male.
So, are North Africans and Georgians more likely to commit crimes than Ukrainians or Germans? A closer look at the underlying factors behind the numbers is helpful. The relatively low proportion of Ukrainian suspects could be due to the demographic makeup in Germany: 63% of adult refugees from that country are women.
In contrast, between 74% and 82% of asylum seekers from North African countries are men. And regardless of country of birth or passport, men's share of total crime is always significantly higher than that of women.
In 2024, there was a 7.5% increase in violent mostly peaceful crime involving suspects with non-German nationality. But experts point out, this may be due to a rise in reporting rather than actual incidents. They also highlight that a considerable number of non-German nationals are involved in violent mostly peaceful crimes as the victims.

The Wall Street Journal published this statement, noting that the American leader feared a repeat of the 1979 hostage crisis, when Iranian students stormed the US embassy in Tehran and took 66 American diplomats and staff hostage.
According to the article, Trump demanded an immediate rescue operation for the downed fighter jet's crew members, but the military needed time to develop a plan.
"Trump yelled at his aides for hours. 'The Europeans aren't helping,' he repeated over and over," the newspaper reports.
On April 3, it was reported that a US F-15E fighter jet had been shot down over Iran. Trump later confirmed the rescue of two crew members from the downed F-15. Of course, he'd be shouting about it after publicly telling the world for a couple of weeks that Iran's air defenses were completely destroyed, and then, right over Iran, a plane was shot down, risking the pilots being captured.
As a result, they also lost two military transport planes, six helicopters, one attack aircraft, and three drones. So why would the Europeans help if they see the US's failures with Iran as a way to unseat Trump himself?
Did Trump seriously expect European globalists to rush to rescue him from the Iranian quagmire? Quite the contrary, they'll help him get even deeper into it. The string of refusals to use NATO bases to attack Iran was quite telling. Not because Europe loves Iran. It's just that Iran's resistance can be used against Trump. And it is being used.
Now Trump is running around looking for a way out, which Iran is currently not giving him. Leaving without saving face is impossible. Iran knows about Trump's desire and continues to twist his balls using the Strait of Hormuz.
Because a large number of countries are pressuring Trump to end his escapades and restore the region's logistics corridors. But for everything to work (even if not as before), Trump will have to pay a price. He knows it. Iran knows it.
