[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Somali truck driver with a Minnesota license who drove the wrong way down a highway could not read the road signs, authorities say.
Terrifying footage shared on social media showed the truck driving against traffic on US 61 near Troy, Missouri around 8am on Wednesday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The truck nearly collided with several other cars before finally crossing the median on to the correct side of the road, when it was stopped by police.
The driver, whose name has not been released, had obtained a commercial driver's license from Minnesota, NewsNation reported.
Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment or medical issues and determined the trucker was going the wrong way because they could not read the road signs.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy addressed the 'disturbing' incident in a post on X.
'We have learned that a truck driver with a Minnesota CDL who couldn't read basic road signs spent MILES driving the wrong way in an 80 TON truck,' Duffy wrote.
'Thanks to Missouri law enforcement, this dangerous trucker is now out of service.'
Duffy noted the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is investigating the truck carrier, Cargo Transportation LLC.
'We will not stop until America’s roads are safe again for families,' he added.
The driver was reportedly issued a citation for driving the wrong way, was placed out of service and not allowed to continue driving, but was not arrested.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety told the Daily Mail they are waiting for the results of the FMCSA investigation.
'We don't yet know the facts of this situation, so we will wait to learn more from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association's (FMCSA) investigation,' the department said.
'However we can confirm that all CDL applicants in Minnesota must take their knowledge and behind-the-wheel testing in English to demonstrate the ability to safely operate a commercial vehicle.'
The Daily Mail has contacted Missouri State Highway Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for more information.
In April last year, Trump signed an executive order requiring truck drivers to speak English and pass literacy tests amid his immigration crackdown.
Rules requiring English proficiency to drive a big rig have been on the books since 1937. Before Trump's order, truckers had been getting citations rather than being taken off the road.
The assessments focus on practical communication - a driver's ability to follow instructions, understand warnings, and interact with law enforcement - and administration officials have cast them as a long-overdue safety upgrade.
By December, thousands of truckers had their licenses revoked for failing English-language proficiency tests.
And a quick search of the address at the above link strongly suggests that the physical & billing address is an apartment building according to the photo that showed up the search. I'm guessing shell corporation.

TW, my point is that I can drive in Quebec successfully although GPS is certainly a help. The signs, themselves are recognizable by color shape and consistent meaning the same way signal flags, lights and day shapes are to mariners.
If a tractor trailer driver can’t identify a wrong way sign, they should not have a regular license and certainly not a CDL. Lock them up and lock up everyone associated with the getting a CDL. Eliminate non-domicile CDL and ban trucking companies that are not physically based in the US.

The executive producer list is extensive and include Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Alex Gibney, Wendy Schmidt, Richard Perello, and Robert Kessel, as well as Thomas Bidegan, Noé Debré, Nathaniel Rich, Billy James Parrott, Laurene Powell Jobs and Davis Guggenheim.
Better they throw their money away on a vanity project like this than put it into something actively harmful, like Antifa or Soros DAs.

WASHINGTON/JOHANNESBURG, Feb 26 (Reuters) - The U.S. aims to process 4,500 refugee applications from white South Africans per month, far above President Donald Trump's stated refugee program cap, and is installing trailers on embassy property in Pretoria to support the effort, a U.S. contracting document said.
The new target, contained in a previously unreported document from the U.S. State Department dated January 27, signals a push to ramp up admissions from South Africa, while refugee applications from other areas have been severely curtailed.
Trump has said the U.S. would only admit 7,500 total refugees from around the world in fiscal year 2026, while a much higher cap of 40,000 to 60,000 was discussed internally last year. Only 2,000 white South Africans had entered the U.S. as refugees as of January 31 under a program launched in May 2025, although the pace has picked up in recent months.
The ambitious target could also face administrative delays in Washington, which in recent weeks have halted all refugee travel to the U.S., including white South Africans, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter.
The U.S. State Department and Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment. The White House referred questions to the State Department.
The South African Chamber of Commerce in the U.S. said last year that more than 67,000 people had expressed interest in relocating.
Trump ordered a halt to refugee admissions into the U.S. after taking office in 2025 as part of his crackdown on legal and illegal immigration. But weeks later, he launched an effort to bring in white South Africans of Afrikaner ethnicity as refugees, saying they had been violently persecuted in the majority-Black country. South Africa's government has rejected that claim, while some refugee advocates have criticized the Trump policy.
U.S. SEES URGENT NEED FOR REFUGEE PROCESSING SITE
The contracting document, posted to a U.S. government database on Wednesday, explains the rationale for awarding the contract for the trailers without a competitive bidding process, stressing an urgent need for a secure site.
An immigration raid by South African authorities on a previous U.S. refugee processing site on a commercial property in Johannesburg had forced the government to consider a more secure location, it said, after "operations were compromised."
"The inability to safely process about 4,500 applicants per month, an objective communicated to (the U.S. State Department's refugee division) from the White House, would result in failure to meet a Presidential priority," the document said.
South African Foreign Ministry spokesperson Chrispin Phiri said his government would not interfere with the U.S. program if it remained within legal boundaries, while reiterating Pretoria's rejection of Trump's claims about white South Africans.
"The assertion that Afrikaners face systemic persecution is fundamentally unsubstantiated," he said.
Whether the U.S. could reach the ambitious 4,500 per month target remains unclear. The State Department last week canceled all refugee travel - including for South Africans - from February 23 to March 9 due to operational factors, an email sent to applicants said.
Because of Trump's sweeping refugee ban issued in January 2025, South Africans must be admitted as exceptions on a case-by-case basis by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
The U.S. official, who requested anonymity to discuss internal operations, said DHS had delayed the approvals, creating an administrative backlog.
Prior to the pause on admissions, South African entries had been ramping up, with about 1,500 admitted in December and January, compared with about 500 in the previous six and a half months, according to U.S. State Department figures.
AFTER PUBLIC U.S.-SOUTH AFRICA TENSIONS, A PRIVATE AGREEMENT
Tensions between the U.S. and South Africa over the refugee effort boiled over in mid-December when South African authorities raided the commercial building in Johannesburg where U.S. staff and contractors were working on refugee cases.
Seven Kenyans working as contractors for a U.S.-based refugee group were arrested for alleged violations of their visa terms, while two U.S. refugee officers were briefly detained.
U.S. and South African officials reached an agreement during a closed-door meeting in late December to allow processing to continue, Reuters reported last month.
The contracting document said a South African company had received a no-bid $772,000 contract to supply and install 14 prefabricated modular buildings as part of a "temporary modular village" on an embassy property in Pretoria.
In a WhatsApp group for South Africans to share information about the program, one applicant said they had an interview this week in a trailer-like structure at an embassy property and that more trailers were being prepared, suggesting the site was now operational.

Many white South Africans are farmers. They’ll want to do the same here, so stake them a downpayment and get out of their way. The rest will find work in their various professions — they already speak the language well enough, and will be able to present resumés, so in a tightish job market they’ll be fine.
And it’s not as if they’ll be penniless when they arrive, so they won’t even need help paying the rent until gainfully employed.

A violent repeat offender with a documented history of firing at law enforcement and cycling through arrests across two states killed two Missouri deputies before being shot dead by police, authorities said.
Richard Dean Bird, 45, had a criminal record spanning more than a decade in Kansas and Missouri before Monday’s deadly encounter in Christian County, officials and court records show.
Bird was killed following a 30-minute shoot-out with deputies after authorities say he fatally shot Deputy Gabriel Ramirez, 30, during a traffic stop south of Highlandville just after 4 p.m. Monday. Deputy Michael Hislope, 40, was later killed during the overnight manhunt, according to Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole.
Court and booking records show Bird was arrested in Stone County, Missouri, on Feb. 20, 2026, just days before the shooting. He was booked on charges of second-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and stealing property valued at $750 or more, according to Stone County jail records.
According to court records cited by The New York Times, Bird had also recently been charged with receiving stolen property. In that case, police found him with collectible coins, including Indian-head pennies valued at about $2,000, that had been inside a safe reported stolen. Officers also discovered documents he allegedly attempted to burn, according to the warrant. Bird had posted $50,000 bond on Friday, the Times reported.
Bird’s violent record dates back to 2014.
In September of that year, he was arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots from a rifle at a Johnson County, Kansas, sheriff’s deputy investigating a theft at a construction site near 191st Street and State Line Road, according to The Kansas City Star.
The outlet reported Bird fired "multiple shots from a rifle at the deputy, who was not hit." He was initially charged with attempted first-degree murder and theft, and his bond was set at $1 million.
Bird later pleaded guilty to reduced charges and was sentenced in 2016 on five counts stemming from that case, according to court records. Kansas Department of Corrections records show he was released in April 2023.
Court filings over the years show Bird faced multiple additional charges, including burglary, tampering, trespassing, theft and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A U.S. military aircraft slammed into a concrete barrier during a takeoff attempt from a Philippine roadway, according to a report, and officials confirmed American service members on board were injured.
The incident happened Tuesday in Central Luzon, Philippines, as the aircraft was conducting training, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command confirmed to Fox News Digital in a statement.
"Two service members were transported to a medical facility for medical attention," the statement said. "One of the individuals has been discharged, while the other remains in medical care and is in stable condition. No civilians were injured."
The command said that the incident is currently under investigation.
The accident happened during contingency training on a bypass road in Laoac town, The Associated Press reported, citing a local police report.

Notably, Havana has said the commander of the Cuban border patrol boat was injured. The Cuban government described the incident as a "foiled armed infiltration" of the island-nation.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has vowed to quickly get to the bottom of what happened, also as some US politicians have demanded that Cuba be crushed because of the assault.
"What I’m telling you is we’re going to find out exactly what happened and who was involved," Rubio said. "We’re not going to just take what somebody else tells us. I’m very confident we will be able to know the story independently."

[Breitbart] OpenAI, the company behind the ChatGPT artificial intelligence (AI) system, published a report on Wednesday that showed how a lone Chinese official accidentally exposed a worldwide network for intimidating dissidents by using ChatGPT to review and edit their reports.
The OpenAI report did not identify the Chinese official responsible, and it might have been several people using a single account, although the report described it as an “individual” user.
“The user’s activity revealed a well-resourced, meticulously-orchestrated strategy for covert IO (information operations) against domestic and foreign adversaries, termed ‘cyber special operations,’” the report said.
“As part of this strategy, they tried to use our model to plan a covert IO targeting the Japanese prime minister, but our model refused,” OpenAI said.
Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae has been a prime target of the Chinese Communist Party since shortly after she assumed office because she said a potential Chinese invasion of Taiwan would be a “survival-threatening situation” for Japan. That specific language would authorize Japanese military intervention, even under the current pacifist constitution. Japanese prime ministers had previously been cautious about unambiguously stating they would intervene to protect Taiwan.
According to the OpenAI report, the Chinese user tried to enlist ChatGPT’s help to conduct an information-war campaign against Takaichi even before she became prime minister, because she “publicly criticized the state of human rights in Inner Mongolia.” The Chinese user also wanted the A.I. to help with “stirring up anger against U.S. tariffs.”
OpenAI said the Chinese threat actor also used ChatGPT to “edit periodic status reports,” which revealed that China was already conducting information warfare against Takaichi before it approached ChatGPT, and was also running a “comprehensive effort to suppress dissent and silence critics both online and offline, at home and abroad.”
“This effort appears to be large-scale, resource-intensive, and sustained, engaging at least hundreds of staff, thousands of fake accounts across scores of platforms, and the use of locally-deployed AI models, especially Chinese ones,” the report said.
In other words, this Chinese official decided to use ChatGPT to cut some corners on editing reports to their superiors – and inadvertently revealed to the artificial intelligence the breathtaking scope of China’s program for transnational repression.
Those details are no great surprise to students of the Chinese Communist Party’s repression, but it is rather embarrassing to have a Chinese official describe them in detail, in the course of trying to get a robot to do their paperwork for them.
OpenAI said the details fed into ChatGPT included descriptions of “dozens of tactics, ranging from abusive reporting of dissidents’ social media accounts, through mass online posting, to forging documents and impersonating U.S. officials to intimidate critics.” OpenAI researchers were able to find “online activities that were consistent with some of the tactics this user described.”
One of the other targets of this campaign besides Takaichi was Chinese social media user “whyyoutouzhele,” also known as “Teacher Li Is Not Your Teacher,” the online handle of a prominent dissident named Li Ying.
If the reports fed by the Chinese official into ChatGPT were accurate, China’s information warfare campaign has generated “millions of posts on Chinese networks, and tens of thousands of posts on foreign ones, using thousands of accounts, many of which were fake or working under the direction of the operation.”
OpenAI found some evidence that these IO campaigns were effective, including reduced follower counts and lower online activity for targeted dissidents, and some dissident accounts were deleted entirely, although high-profile targets like Japan’s prime minister and Teacher Li Is Not Your Teacher were not damaged much.
“This is what Chinese modern transnational repression looks like. It’s not just digital. It’s not just about trolling. It’s industrialized. It’s about trying to hit critics of the CCP with everything, everywhere, all at once,” OpenAI principal investigator Ben Nimmo told reporters.
[MalayMail] Meta Platforms has signed a multi-billion dollar deal to rent artificial intelligence chips from Google to develop new AI models, The Information reported on Thursday, citing a person involved in the talks.
The report of the multi-year deal comes as companies pour billions into chips and AI infrastructure to meet demand for artificial intelligence.
Meta and Google declined Reuters’ request for comment.
Earlier this week, Advanced Micro Devices said it would sell up to US$60 billion (RM233 billion) in AI chips to Meta.
The Facebook owner earlier this month also signed a deal with Nvidia to buy its current and future AI chips.
Reuters reported in December that Google was pushing to make its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) a viable alternative to Nvidia’s market-leading GPUs.
TPU sales have become a crucial growth engine of Google’s cloud revenue as it seeks to prove to investors that its AI investments are generating returns.
The Information reported Thursday that Meta is also in talks with Google to buy the TPUs for its data centers as early as next year, though the status of those discussions could not be determined.
Google has also signed an agreement with an unidentified large investment firm to fund a joint venture that would lease TPUs to other customers, the report added.
[Morningstar] Netflix said Thursday that it was walking away from its agreement to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, after the media giant said it had determined that a last-minute bid by Paramount Skydance was a better deal.
In a stunning turn of events, Netflix said that countering Paramount's latest offer was "no longer financially attractive" and that it had decided to abandon its bid.
"The transaction we negotiated would have created shareholder value with a clear path to regulatory approval. However, we've always been disciplined, and at the price required to match Paramount Skydance's latest offer, the deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid," Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Gary Peters said in a statement.
"We believe we would have been strong stewards of Warner Bros.' iconic brands, and that our deal would have strengthened the entertainment industry and preserved and created more production jobs in the U.S.," Sarandos and Peters added. "But this transaction was always a 'nice to have' at the right price, not a 'must have' at any price."
Warner Bros. Discovery shares (WBD) fell more than 2% in after-hours trading Thursday, while Paramount shares (PSKY) gained over 4%. Netflix's stock (NFLX) jumped more than 10% on the news.
While Warner Bros.' and Netflix's decisions came down to price, one aspect that had loomed over the transaction all along was which deal the Trump administration - which has shown its willingness to involve itself in media deals and pressure companies that are not in the president's favor - was willing to allow through.
A key part of Paramount's pitch was that its offer is more likely to pass muster with regulators as CEO David Ellison and his father, Oracle (ORCL) co-founder Larry Ellison, enjoy a good relationship with President Donald Trump. Last year, the Ellisons were able to acquire Paramount following a long regulatory review process after settling a defamation lawsuit with the president that most legal observers had deemed baseless.

Ellison also owns Tiktok now which means no more one-sided stories from Gaza with no context added.

Stop and think of the lawsuits, if a Deputy arrested a Transgender Female acting as Male with a license showing IT'S claimed and not actual sex. Then patted IT down like any male arrested.
Surely IT's lawyer would use it to void the arrest and make $$$$$ for both.
[FoxNews] A proposed Department of Housing and Urban Development rule would crack down on illegal immigrants or unqualified people living in public housing, closing a loophole established amid major departmental reforms under President Bill Clinton in 1996.
Current HUD rules allow "mixed-status" households to use public housing under what is called the "do not contend" provision, in which a person living among a public housing family can declare they "do not contend" their HUD eligibility under their immigration status, and the family instead receives prorated housing assistance.
The HUD-ineligible family member or members may remain in public housing so long as the family accepts their diminished subsidies, according to reports.
The new HUD rule, proposed this week under Secretary Scott Turner, would eliminate the option for residents to say they "do not contend" and instead require every member to verify citizenship or prove eligible noncitizen status to continue receiving housing assistance.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A 20-million-year-old whale fossil has been excavated from a Victorian beach after it was discovered by a family late last year.
The one-tonne fossil was found at Ocean Grove Beach on Bellarine Peninsula in December when Queensland holidaymaker Kristina Davidson noticed bones protruding from the sand and contacted Museums Victoria.
Ms Davidson said the remarkable discovery happened purely by chance.
'I pretty much stumbled over it... we spent some time trying to dig it up and look at it and took some photos,' she told Nine News on Thursday.
'There's the spine, there's rib bones, it's just kind of all there. It's just mind-blowing.'
Around 20 staff from Museums Victoria and Barwon Coast used heavy machinery to carefully excavate the fossil, completing the operation yesterday.
The find is believed to be one of the largest ever discovered in Australia.
The fossil was transported to Melbourne Museum, where scientists are now studying the ancient remains.
Museums Victoria senior paleontologist Dr Erich Fitzgerald said he received an email about a fossil buried beneath half a metre of sand just before Christmas.
'I was actually about to go on leave for Christmas ... a member of the public sent an inquiry to the museum's public enquiry line.
'[They said:] "We think we've found something on the beach at Ocean Grove".
'I went down on the 19th of December to scout about, have a bit of a look. Lo and behold, yep, they found something alright.'
Dr Fitzgerald described the whale fossil as one of the more significant discoveries he had encountered, particularly as many of the bones appear to remain connected.
'Every fossil we find has its own unique significance ... it's rare to find a skeleton where there are many of the bones connected together,' he said.
He said a small exposed tooth offers an important clue about the whale's origins.
'There's one little tooth that we can see exposed on the side of this block, and that tooth suggests that this is from a really quite primitive group of toothed echo-locating whales.'
Dr Fitzgerald said fossils from this period, roughly 21 to 23 million years ago, are extremely rare worldwide and could help scientists better understand a key stage in whale evolution.
'It's a critical episode where the Earth's climate and oceans were changing really dramatically,' he said.
'This fossil from Ocean Grove doesn't just have local, state, national significance, it has the real chance to shed light on the global picture of whale evolution through what you might consider the missing years of whale history.'
