An Indian expatriate was abducted and a police officer killed during an attack by armed bandits at Ogunmakin Village in Ibadan, Oyo State, the police said.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Jan. 16 at about 1:00 p.m. at Aqua Triton Company, an agricultural farm, when about ten armed bandits laid siege to the farm.
“The bandits abducted 42-year-old Renjith Pillai, a company director, while he was inspecting crops,” the source said.

At least seven persons were killed and three others abducted when armed bandits attacked Kyara village, a remote border community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, in the early hours of Thursday.
Sources said the attack occurred at about 4:00 a.m. in the village, which lies close to the Niger Republic border and has no mobile phone network coverage.
The bandits, who were said to be in large numbers and armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.
The Nigerian Military troops of Operation HADIN MAI have foiled attack by ISWAP, neutralising several terrorists and disrupting their attempted withdrawal after an attack on military formation in AZIR in Damboa LGA in Borno state.
Zagazola Makama report that the elimination of the terrorists followed an intervention by the Nigerian Airforce Component of Operation Hadin Kak who provided decisive close air support to ground troops during the attack in the early hours of Friday.
[IsraelTimes] Police say they arrested four foreign activists for attacking a settler in the West Bank, and two of them will be deported.
A police statement says the four attacked a shepherd who was in an approved grazing area near the Palestinian village of al-Mughayyir.
The four were detained for assault, creating a public disturbance and violating a military order barring them from the area.
Two of the activists were released and banned from the West Bank for a period of 15 days and the other two will be deported after a hearing, the police say.
Al-Mughayyir has been the scene of frequent clashes between settlers and Palestinians, with foreign activists often trying to document settler attacks.

Among those killed was Muhammad Hamed Muhammad al-Hawli, identified previously by senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan as a local al-Qassam Brigades commander.
According to the military, al-Hawli was a key figure in the organization for decades, played a significant role in Hamas’s preparations for the October 7, 2023, onslaught, and previously directed the February 1995 Nahal Oz checkpoint attack in which Yevgeny Gromov was killed.
During the attack, Paleostinian button men opened fire on an Israeli security vehicle carrying Gromov, who was working as a guard escorting two fuel tankers into the Gaza Strip from nearby Nahal Oz. Gromov was badly maimed, but before he died, he was able to fire back at the terrorists, driving them off. He was the only person killed in the attack.
Hamas never explicitly grabbed credit for the attack, though according to the IDF, it was carried out at the direction of al-Hawli, who the military said was killed Thursday, some 30 years
Reports at the time of the strike indicated that at least five additional people, including al-Hawli’s wife and daughter, were killed in the strike in Deir al-Balah.
The IDF also confirmed that it killed Ashraf Adnan Muhammad al-Khatib, who, according to the military, was the commander of Paleostinian Islamic Jihad’s rocket and missile array in central Gaza.
Arabic media reported that an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... on Thursday night struck a home in the Nuseirat refugee camp, killing al-Khatib along with his wife and wounding several others.
Israel also confirmed killing Saeed Khaled Ali Abd al-Rahman, whom the IDF identified as the sniper commander in Hamas’s Deir al-Balah Battalion and a "major source of expertise in the field." It is unclear where and when al-Rahman was killed.
In an additional strike, the IDF said it killed two more Hamas operatives who were involved in efforts to rehabilitate the group’s infrastructure, without specifying their identities or the location of the strike.
The military said the strikes dealt a "significant blow" to the terror groups’ ability to plan and carry out attacks against IDF troops deployed in Gaza under the ceasefire, vowing to continue acting against attempts to harm Israeli troops and civilians.

...back at the abandoned silver mine, there was another explosion... the Hamas-run health ministry reported that hospitals in Gaza received the body of one person killed by the military, as well as several maimed by IDF fire, over the previous 24 hours. The report did not identify the dead person or say where they were killed.
Paleostinian media reported Friday evening that a teenager was killed by IDF gunfire on the Hamas-controlled side of the Gaza ceasefire line in northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya. The IDF has not commented on the reports.
The media identified him as Muhammad al-Brawi, 16. His body was reportedly brought to Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital and taken by his family for burial earlier Saturday.
Gaza hospitals also attended to six people maimed by IDF gunfire in the past 24 hours, the Hamas-run health ministry said. It did not specify where the people were maimed or the severity of their wounds.
Additionally, the health ministry reported Saturday that a 27-day-old girl died of cold exposure. Paleostinian media identified the baby as Aisha al-Agha. She reportedly was found dead Saturday morning in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis.
According to the ministry, she was the eighth child to die of cold exposure in Gaza this winter season, starting in December.
The Paleostinian territory’s population of more than 2 million people has been struggling to keep the cold weather, including rain and severe storms, at bay, amid a shortage of humanitarian aid and Israel’s ban on the entry of trailer homes. It’s the third winter since the war between Israel and Hamas started on October 7, 2023, when the Paleostinian terror group led thousands of fighters in an invasion of southern Israel that killed around 1,200 people and saw 251 kidnapped into Gaza.
According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, Israel has killed over 400 people in the Strip since the ceasefire-hostage agreement came into effect in October, adding to the more than 70,000 killed during the war, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led administration of northeast Syria (Rojava) on Sunday announced a state of "general mobilization" in support of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), citing what it described as "an existential war" waged by Damascus and affiliated holy warrior groups in violation of an internationally mediated truce.
In a statement, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) said that "factions affiliated with the interim Damascus government" have violated an internationally mediated truce, "launching attacks on our forces on multiple fronts since yesterday [Saturday] morning until now [Sunday].
"Despite all efforts to find peaceful solutions and demonstrate good faith by withdrawing from certain areas... Damascus insists on continuing the fighting and pursuing a military option," the DAANES added, calling on "our people to remain on full alert, uphold the principle of self‑defense, support their military forces, protect their cities, and take part in the struggle to defend their dignity."
The Kurdish-led administration in Rojava further stated, "We are facing a decisive phase: either we resist and live with our dignity, or we are subjected to all forms of oppression and humiliation.
"Accordingly, we call on our people to respond to the general mobilization declared by the [Democratic] Autonomous Administration [of North and East Syria] and to stand alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces [SDF] and the Women’s Protection Units [YPJ]," the DAANES urged.
Sounding the alarm further, the Rojava administration stated, "We must understand that we are facing an existential war, and to preserve the gains of our revolution and our identity, there is only one option: popular resistance.
The DAANES reiterated, "We call on our people to rally around their forces, to unite together to confront this brutal attack, and for everyone to remain fully vigilant."
The remarks come after the SDF - the de facto military force in Rojava - on Saturday accused Damascus and affiliated gangs of attacking its forces as they prepared to withdraw from Deir Hafer and Maskanah in eastern Aleppo, as well as from the Thawra oil field near Tabqa, a former Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) stronghold in the Raqqa countryside.
"As a result of the Damascus government’s betrayal and its violation of the internationally sponsored agreement, groups of our fighters remain besieged in Deir Hafer and Maskanah [in eastern Aleppo], despite the agreement stipulating a 48-hour withdrawal period," the SDF said in a statement on X.
The Kurdish-led forces further accused Syrian authorities of "attacking our fighters with tanks," holding "the Damascus government and the international guarantor powers fully responsible for the safety and lives of our besieged fighters." They also stressed "the necessity of ensuring their safe passage, with their weapons, to the regions of northern and eastern Syria."
The Syrian Arab Army’s Operations Command claimed on Sunday that "64 male and female fighters from the SDF" had "surrendered after being besieged by army forces" in Raqqa countryside.
Anticipating an expansion of operations by the Syrian army and affiliated holy warrior groups into Kurdish-administered areas, the DAANES on Sunday urged "all segments of our people - especially young men and women - to arm themselves and prepare to confront any potential attack in the Jazira region and Kobane."
The Jazira region encompasses areas east of the Euphrates, covering much of the provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Hasaka. Meanwhile,

Kobane is a Kurdish city in northern Syria that gained international attention when the SDF’s backbone force, the People’s Protection Units (YPG), backed by the US, successfully repelled a brutal Islamic State (ISIS) offensive in January 2015.
The DAANES further stated that "the aim of these attacks is to undermine the brotherhood forged with the blood of our young men and women, to incite strife and violence among the communities of North and East Syria [Rojava], and to target the country’s indigenous populations, imposing a single color over the rest of the spectrum."
Interestingly, Damascus and affiliated gangs are pressing ahead with their military advance into DAANES-administered territories, in violation of the internationally mediated truce, just a day after Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa signed a "special decree" on Friday purportedly guaranteeing the Kurdish people’s "rights and certain particularities."
[IsraelTimes] Iranian authorities say they have arrested members of the Bahai minority, whom they accused of having been active in what they call “riots,” the Tasnim news agency reported, after the wave of mass anti-government protests that gripped the country.
The Bahais, Iran’s biggest non-Muslim religious minority, regularly experience persecution, and the Islamic Republic has accused its members of being spies linked to Israel.
“A 32-member network of the Bahai espionage cult who were active in the riots and acts of vandalism were identified and 12 main agents were arrested and 13 were summoned,” the intelligence ministry says, quoted by Tasnim.
It says the network was active across Iran, including in the capital Tehran, adding that “their main hideout was located in Mashhad” in the east.
Iran was rocked by weeks of demonstrations sparked by anger over economic hardship that exploded into the biggest protests against the Islamic Republic in more than three years.
But demonstrations have subsided after the crackdown that rights groups say left thousands of people dead.
Human Rights Watch said in 2024 that the “Iranian authorities’ decades-long systematic repression of Bahais… amounts to the crime against humanity of persecution.”
It is unclear how many members of the minority remain in Iran, but their supporters believe there could still be several hundred thousand.

It is really a beautiful place (although you have to deal with a lot of stairs if you want to see all the gardens on the west side)

The Baha’i are supposed to make a pilgrimage to the World Temple like the Moslems they derive from do to Mecca. It’s very organized: first fosterling’s mother scheduled the two of them for a date five years in the future. In the end, with all the family drama, they had to cancel, but her Iranian-Canadian father took her instead to visit his cousins on the Iranian passport he’d got her when she was born. It was the last time Iran was riled up, and the cousins took her both to Ramadan festivities and to see the riots. I watched from here, terrified because she was and is a spoilt American liberal female, and has no idea that sometimes she needs to keep her mouth firmly shut and her demeanour modest.

The US military on Saturday said that a strike in northwest Syria a day earlier had killed a terror operative linked to a deadly attack on three Americans last month.

Washington has blamed an Islamic State fighter for ambushing and killing two US soldiers and a US civilian interpreter in Palmyra on December 13.
The target of Friday’s strike was Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, "an experienced terrorist leader who plotted attacks and was directly connected with the ISIS gunman" in last month’s lone gunman attack on the American personnel, US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees the country’s military forces in the region, said on X.
CENTCOM said al-Jasim was affiliated with al-Qaeda, without elaborating on his links with the Islamic State group — also known as ISIS — or the Palmyra attacker.
Another jihadi happy to take the label of whoever is the local paymaster, since all pretty much go after the same targets in the area.
Syria’s interior ministry has said the Islamic State gunman was a member of the security forces who had been set to be fired for extremism.
The US personnel targeted in Palmyra were supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, the international effort to combat Islamic State, which seized swaths of Syrian and Iraqi territory in 2014.
The jihadist group was ultimately defeated by local ground forces backed by international air strikes and other support, but Islamic State still has a presence in Syria, especially in the country’s vast desert.
Operation Hawkeye Strike, which the US launched in response to the December 13 attack, has seen US and partner forces “hitting more than 100 ISIS infrastructure and weapons site targets,” CENTCOM said.
More than 300 ISIS fighters have been captured and 20 killed in the past year in Syria, it added.
Syria’s government is led by ex-rebels who toppled former president Bashar al-Assad in 2024 after a 13-year civil war, and includes members of Syria’s former al-Qaeda branch who broke with the group and clashed with Islamic State.
Syria has been cooperating with a US-led coalition against Islamic State, reaching an agreement late last year when President Ahmed al-Sharaa visited the White House.

However, emerging reports indicate that units affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government (STG) violated the agreement, cutting off an SDF column during its retreat. Heavy clashes are now underway in Maskanah, with HTS and allied factions launching ground assaults in the Dibsi Afnan and Maskanah areas. These attacks are reportedly taking place while Turkish fighter jets monitor the area.
Meanwhile, YPJ and SDF units are responding to attacks in the Dibsi Afnan area, west of Raqqa.
