[FoxNews] The oil tanker was seized Saturday off the coast of Venezuela by US forces
A U.S. Coast GuardMaritime Special Response Team (MSRT) assisted by the U.S. Navy, seized a second oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela Saturday, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem took to X to share further details of the operation: "In a pre-dawn action early this morning on Dec. 20, the US Coast Guard with the support of the Department of War apprehended an oil tanker that was last docked in Venezuela."
"The United States will continue to pursue the illicit movement of sanctioned oil that is used to fund narco terrorism in the region," Noem said. "We will find you, and we will stop you."
Noem also praised the service members involved in the operation, thanking the "brave men and women" of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of War for carrying out the interdiction.
The operation involved a U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Special Reaction Team assisted by the U.S. Navy, marking the latest enforcement action tied to President Donald Trump’s announced blockade of sanctioned oil tankers.
The seizure comes days after Trump announced a "total and complete blockade" of sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela on Tuesday.
The first tanker seized this week occurred on Wednesday, with video released by the Justice Department showing agents rappelling onto the vessel with weapons drawn.
\Attorney General Pam Bondi took to X to share details of the seizure, writing, "for multiple years, the oil tanker has been sanctioned by the United States due to its involvement in an illicit oil shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations."
"This seizure, completed off the coast of Venezuela, was conducted safely and securely—and our investigation alongside the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the transport of sanctioned oil continues," Bondi concluded.
China is the world's greatest user of Venezuelan crude oil, Reuters reported.
Before this month, the last time Venezuelan oil tankers were seized by the U.S. military was in 2014, under President Barack Obama.

A French court on Thursday sentenced a nanny to a two-and-a-half-year jail term for poisoning the parents of Jewish children in her care in 2024, but ruled out the aggravating circumstance of antisemitism.
The 42-year-old Algerian woman, known as Leïla Y., had been working as a nanny for their three children when the parents filed a complaint in January 2024 after noticing that a bottle of grape juice smelled of bleach and that the mother’s eye makeup remover burned her eyes.
She was detained the following month and charged with “administering a harmful substance resulting in incapacity exceeding eight days, committed on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion.”
Her arrest was only publicized this month, ahead of the start of her trial.
Investigators charged that shortly after she was hired in January 2024, the suspect began mixing toxic household cleaning agents into wine, juice, pasta and cosmetics belonging to the couple who hired her to care for their three children, aged 2, 5 and 7 at the time, according to a Le Parisien report.
According to the report, the mother of the family first alerted police on January 30, telling officers she had tasted what seemed to be cleaning fluid in her wine. She reported that her makeup remover had burned her eyes and that grape juice in the refrigerator appeared to foam and smelled of bleach. A pasta dish that had tasted normal one day suddenly had a strong “perfume” aroma the next, she said.
Several days later, on February 3, the couple’s 5-year-old daughter told her mother she had seen the nanny pour a soapy substance into a bottle labeled “Jerusalem,” a brand of kosher alcohol.
Toxicology tests later detected polyethylene glycol and other chemical agents at very high levels in wine, whisky, fig liqueur, juice and pasta seized from the home, Le Parisien said. The substances were deemed harmful and potentially corrosive, capable of causing significant digestive tract injuries, the investigating magistrate wrote in the committal order.
The nanny initially admitted, in police custody, to pouring cleaning products into bottles of alcohol belonging to her employers, telling the officers she “never should have worked for a Jewish woman” because “they have money and power.”

During the trial, however, the defendant recanted her confession, saying she had “made up” the story under police pressure and denied any antisemitic motive.
In handing down the conviction, the presiding judge at the court in the Paris suburb of Nanterre described her actions as a “major betrayal of trust” for the parents of the children.
The court, however, dismissed the aggravating circumstance of antisemitism on procedural grounds, saying her comments came too late after the poisoning and had not been recorded in the presence of a lawyer.
The defendant’s lawyer had argued her client had been motivated by a payment dispute.
“The constant comparison between these two lives, this feeling of social oppression, led to this excessive act. It’s not hatred, it’s suffering,” said the defendant’s lawyer, Solange Marle.
”They’re Jews, she’s a Moslem. They’re her personal sheep to shear. And it's not like she killed any of them, or even caused permanent harm… probably. They should be grateful!”
She was also found guilty of administrative forgery for using a fake Belgian identity card.
The sentencing comes amid soaring levels of antisemitism in France since Hamas launched its war against Israel on October 7, 2023. The country saw 1,570 antisemitic incidents in 2024, nearly four times the average level before October 7, according to the Conseil Représentatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF), the representative organization of French Jewish groups.

Canadian police on Friday announced the arrest of three men for attempted kidnappings targeting Jews and women, and terrorism.
The suspects were named as Waleed Khan, 26, Osman Azizov, 18, and Fahad Sadaat, 19. The suspects are all from Toronto.
The arrests stemmed from two incidents earlier this year.
In Toronto, in May, three men, one armed with a handgun and another with a knife, approached a woman and attempted to force her into a vehicle. The assailants fled when the attempted kidnapping was interrupted by a passing driver, police said in a statement.
In June, in the nearby city of Mississauga, three men with a handgun, a rifle, and a knife exited a vehicle and chased two women. They also expeditiously departed at a goodly pace after a passing motorist intervened, police said.
The individuals were "targeting women and members of the Jewish community," Toronto police chief Myron Demkiw said, without providing further details.
The suspects’ residences were searched, uncovering firearms, ammunition, and high-capacity magazines, as well as other evidence that indicated hate motivation.
"Investigators also uncovered links to terrorism," a police statement said.
A court-imposed gag order has prevented the publication of further details, the statement said.
The suspects were charged with a total of 79 offenses, including conspiracy to commit kidnapping and hostage taking; weapons possession, sexual assault; motor vehicle theft; and forgery.
Khan was charged with additional terrorism related offenses, according to the federal Royal Canadian Mounted Police, citing links to ISIS. Those charges included conspiracy to commit murder for a terrorist group.
The arrests came amid fear in Diaspora Jewish communities following the antisemitic massacre in Australia last week. The shooters in that terror attack had ISIS flags in their vehicle.
"As we saw in Sydney, we are one intelligence failure away from a devastating loss of life. A lack of urgency on the part of our leaders puts Canadians in danger," said Noah Shack, the head of the Canadian umbrella group The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs.
"We urge authorities to take decisive measures to hold Lions of Islam accountable for radicalizing Canadians and setting the stage for mass violence right here in our country," Shack said.
Last year, a father and son who entered Canada as asylum-seekers were arrested for plotting a mass attack on behalf of ISIS in Toronto.

According to the military, the operatives crossed the Yellow Line and approached reservists of the Jerusalem Brigade, "in a way that posed an immediate threat" without specifying whether they were armed or what constituted the threat.

Saturday’s strike came a day after a separate strike in Gaza City that killed at least five, including civilians — some said to be children. The Israel Defense Forces said Saturday evening that troops had killed two Paleostinians who attacked forces in separate incidents in the northern West Bank.
According to Paleostinian health officials, one of the Paleostinians was a teenager, and footage published by Paleostinian media of that incident appeared to contradict the army’s version.
In the first incident, the army said a Paleostinian hurled a brick at soldiers of the Paratroopers Brigade’s reconnaissance unit during a raid in Qabatiya. The troops returned fire, "eliminating the terrorist," the IDF said.
Minutes later, other forces from the Paratroopers’ reconnaissance unit, operating in Silat al-Harithiya, opened fire on a Paleostinian who hurled an bomb at them, the army said, adding that the suspect was killed.
In both incidents, no soldiers were hurt, the IDF added.
The Paleostinian Authority’s health ministry identified the Paleostinian slain in Qabatiya as Rayan Abu Mualla, 16, and said Israel was holding his body.
The Paleostinian killed in Silat al-Harithiya was identified by the PA health ministry as Ahmad Zayoud, 22.
Footage published by Paleostinian media appeared to contradict the IDF’s claim that Abu Mualla had hurled a brick at the forces.
The surveillance camera video showed a person approaching Israeli troops, who then shot up him. The video, which could not be immediately verified, did not appear to show the Paleostinian attacking the soldiers.

More than 1,000 Paleostinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli forces or settlers since the war started, according to the PA health ministry. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or forces of Evil carrying out attacks.
During the same period, 63 civilians and Israeli security personnel have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in festivities during raids in Paleostinian cities in the West Bank.

Prosecutors have indicted a Russian national on espionage charges after he was arrested on suspicion of spying for Iranian interests, the State Attorney’s Office said Friday.
Vitaly Zvyagintsev, a Russian citizen who had been living in Israel on a work permit, is accused of taking pictures of sensitive sites across the country for an Iranian agent.
Zyvagintsev and the agent were in contact from early October until December 4, when the Russian citizen was arrested at an air force base, the State Attorney’s Office said.
Zvyagintsev allegedly photographed the ports of Eilat, Haifa and Ashdod, as well as the Herzliya Marina, and sent the documentation to his handler. The defendant is also accused of traveling to Nesher Park, which overlooks parts of Haifa, in order to film oil refineries in the city.
The defendant also allegedly photographed military vessels, including an armed merchant cruiser belonging to the US Navy and a Dolphin-class submarine belonging to the Israeli Navy.
He was paid hundreds of dollars in cryptocurrency for each task, prosecutors said.
He was arrested earlier this month at the Ramat David Air Force Base, where he tried to carry out another espionage mission, according to prosecutors. He had taken photos of the site, but was arrested by security forces before he could pass them onto his handler, the indictment said.
Though police usually coordinate with the Shin Bet to investigate Iranian espionage cases, the probe was overseen jointly by the Shin Bet and the Director of Security of the Defense Establishment, an internal Defense Ministry investigatory unit known by its Hebrew acronym Malmab.

An Israeli woman who reported having been kidnapped on Friday was extracted by the Paleostinian Authority’s security forces from the West Bank city of Jericho, the military said.

The woman had called the police, saying she had been kidnapped. Hebrew media outlets reported that the alleged kidnapper is an acquaintance of the woman from work who, unbeknownst to her, drove her to an apartment in Jericho, where she told Sherlocks a group of Paleostinian men assaulted her before she was able to escape.
The Israel Defense Forces said that upon receiving the report of the suspected kidnapping, it dispatched troops to the scene to search for the woman.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told AFP that "at least five members of the Islamic State group were killed" in the strikes in eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor province, including the head of a cell responsible for operating drones in the area.
A Syrian security source told the agency that the US strikes targeted ISIS cells in the vast Syrian desert, including in Homs, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa provinces, and did not include ground operations. State media in the kingdom first reported Jordan’s involvement, without detailing the scope of its role.
US officials have said American forces struck more than 70 ISIS targets using fighter jets, attack aircraft, helicopters and artillery, describing the operation as "large-scale." Trump this week met privately with the families of the slain Americans at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware before he joined top military officials and other dignitaries on the tarmac for the dignified transfer, a solemn and largely silent ritual honoring US service members killed in action.
The guardsmen killed in Syria last Saturday were Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar, 25, of Des Moines, and Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of Marshalltown. Ayad Mansoor Sakat, of Macomb, Michigan, a US civilian working as an interpreter, was also killed.
The shooting near Palmyra also wounded three other US troops as well as members of Syria’s security forces, and the gunman was killed. The assailant had joined Syria’s internal security forces as a base security guard two months ago and was recently reassigned because of suspicions that he might be affiliated with ISIS, Interior Ministry spokesperson Nour al-Din al-Baba has said.

The Israel Defense Forces captured a suspected Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... jihadist in an overnight raid earlier this week in southern Syria, the military said in a Saturday statement.
The announcement came after the United States and Jordan conducted Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s overnight Friday against Islamic State targets in Syria, in response to a December 13 attack in the Syrian desert that killed two US soldiers and a US civilian interpreter.
The US-led strikes killed at least five ISIS operatives, including the leader of a drone cell, according to Syrian and monitoring sources.
The Israeli military said that the suspected ISIS operative was detained in the village of al-Rafid, which is located within a UN-patrolled buffer zone on the border that the IDF captured last year.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 52nd Armored Battalion and field interrogators of the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 — which specializes in human intelligence — under the command of the 474th "Golan" Regional Brigade.
The alleged ISIS member was brought to Israel for further interrogation, the IDF said.
The military added that it captured several weapons during the raid.
The IDF has been deployed to nine posts inside southern Syria since the fall of the Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Supressor of the Damascenes... regime in December 2024, mostly within the UN-patrolled buffer zone on the border between the countries.
Troops have been operating in areas up to around 15 kilometers (some nine miles) deep into Syria, aiming to capture weapons that Israel says could pose a threat to the country if they fall into the hands of "hostile forces."
Last month, six Israeli soldiers were maimed, including three seriously, after coming under fire by button men during an arrest operation in southern Syria.
