According to the task force, the amount of drugs seized over the past 12 months is enough to fill 42 dump trucks. The 2025 fiscal year ends Tuesday.

[IsraelTimes] An Israeli man, apparently involved in attempting to smuggle contraband over the Egyptian border into Israel, was killed during an army chase.
The military says that during the incident several hours ago, soldiers operating surveillance cameras spotted several suspects on the Israeli-Egyptian border and dispatched troops to the scene.
As the troops arrived, the suspects tried to flee in a car. The IDF says the suspects’ car crashed into an army vehicle and overturned, with one of the suspects inside being killed.
No soldiers were hurt in the incident, the military says.
The IDF believes that the suspects were attempting to smuggle contraband over the border using drones.
In the past year, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egyptian border using drones.

The attack came hours after two rockets were launched from northern Gaza, the second time in just over a week that such attacks were made on Israeli territory, and as the Israel Defense Forces pressed on with an all-out assault on Gaza City, whose aim, Israel says, is to wipe out Hamas in its final redoubts.
The Hamas attack began at around 5:25 p.m. with a cell of five terror operatives infiltrating an army encampment and setting off two bombs against a tank of the 7th Armored Brigade’s 82nd Battalion.
Troops at the encampment exchanged fire with the button men, killing at least two of them — one by tank shelling and one in a close-quarters shootout, according to the IDF.
The IDF said it was hunting for the three surviving Hamas button men who managed to flee the encampment after the attack.
During the incident, a medical officer, a tank officer, and three soldiers of the 82nd Battalion were seriously injured, the IDF said. Six other troops were lightly hurt. The soldiers were all taken to hospitals, and their families were notified.
Hours earlier, two rockets were fired from northern Gaza at the Nahal Oz area, a community on the Strip’s border. Interceptors were fired at the two rockets, which ultimately did not cross the border and fell short inside the Strip, according to the IDF
Alerts were activated in open areas only, and not in any towns, "according to protocol," the military added.
Last week, two rockets were fired at Ashdod, one of which was intercepted, while the other hit an open area.

Gaza medics linked to Hamas said the military killed at least 18 people across the Strip, most of them in Gaza City. The Israeli Air Force struck some 140 targets in the Gaza Strip in the past day, including buildings used by terror groups, operatives, and other infrastructure, the military said.
The Israeli Navy also operated in Gaza, shelling a weapons depot and other buildings used by Hamas operatives in the Strip’s north, the IDF said.
The strikes came as ground troops from three IDF divisions continued to push into Gaza City.
The IDF said the 36th Division destroyed several buildings used by Hamas to observe forces, and directed a dronezap that killed a cell of button men planting bombs; troops of the 98th Division killed a Hamas operative who had launched mortars at the forces; and soldiers of the 162nd Division killed several operatives and neutralized booby traps.
Elsewhere, in northern Gaza, the 99th Division hit several more buildings used by Hamas for surveillance, while in the Strip’s south, soldiers of the Gaza Division killed several operatives near the forces in the southern Khan Younis area, the IDF said.
The war in Gaza was triggered by Hamas on October 7, 2023, when it led a devastating invasion of southern Israel that killed 1,200 people and saw 251 hostages taken to Gaza.
HIGH-RISE BOMB
The IDF has struck dozens of tall buildings in Gaza City in recent weeks, saying they were being used by Hamas as command posts and for surveillance, and some were rigged up with booby-traps.
On Monday, the military published a video showing troops locating an bomb planted by Hamas in a high-rise building in the city.
According to the military, the bomb was found on the sixth floor of the tower using a drone. The booby trap was "neutralized," and no soldiers were maimed in the incident, the army said.
Israeli tanks, meanwhile, advanced to within a few hundred meters of Gaza City’s main Al Shifa Hospital, where doctors say hundreds of patients are still being treated despite Israeli orders to leave.
Health officials said tanks had also surrounded the area around nearby Al Helo hospital, housing 90 patients, including 12 babies in incubators. Medics said it was shelled overnight.
Also on Monday, the IDF and Shin Bet announced that the deputy commander of the Hamas Zeitoun Battalion in Gaza City, who led hostage release ceremonies and participated in the October 7 onslaught, was killed in a recent Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... The Hamas commander, Musa Shaldan, was killed in a strike carried out by the Israeli Air Force last week, according to the IDF.
As a company commander in the Zeitoun Battalion, Shaldan invaded Israel with his forces on October 7, 2023, the IDF said. Additionally, the army said he was one of the leaders of Hamas’s incendiary balloon launches at Israel before the war.
During the war, Shaldan was responsible for the release of hostages from Gaza City, and he was seen leading Hamas’s release ceremonies earlier this year, the military said.
The IDF said that during the war, Shaldan led numerous attacks against Israeli troops — including sniper fire, explosives, and anti-tank fire — while sheltering in "humanitarian compounds." He was also responsible for Hamas’s fighting positions in Zeitoun.
Previously, Shaldan served as the intelligence chief in the Zeitoun Battalion and a deputy company commander, the army added.
Also Sunday, Israeli troops operating in Gaza City killed a Hamas operative who attempted to plant a bomb next to an armored personnel carrier, the military said.
According to the IDF, the troops spotted the operative and opened fire on him as he tried to detonate the bomb against a Namer APC.
A short while later, an additional cell of Hamas button men was identified in the area, and the forces called in a dronezap that killed them, the army said.
The army issued footage showing the operative who was killed trying to approach the troops, and airstrikes directed by the forces.

The incident took place during operations of the 188th Armored Brigade and Bislamach Brigade — the IDF’s School for Infantry Corps Professions and Squad Commanders — under the 98th Division.
[IsraelTimes] Two Hezbollah operatives responsible for artillery fire, who were advancing attacks against Israel, were killed in airstrikes in Lebanon yesterday, the military says.
According to the IDF, both Muhammad Abbas Sha’shua, who was based in Sohmor in the eastern Beqaa Valley, and Muhammad Hussein Yassin, based in the Beaufort Castle area of southern Lebanon, were involved in rehabilitating the group’s fighting capabilities.
Sha’shua was responsible for Hezbollah’s artillery capabilities in the Sohmor area, and during the fighting last year, had advanced numerous attacks against the Kiryat Shmona area and Golan Heights, the military says.
Yassin, a senior member of Hezbollah’s artillery unit in the Beaufort Castle area — and responsible for attacks last year on Kiryat Shmona and the Galilee Panhandle — was also involved in bringing arms south of the Litani River in contravention of a ceasefire, the IDF says.

Lebanese authorities reported two people killed in Israeli strikes yesterday, one in a strike on an excavator in Sohmor, and a second person killed in an attack on a water tanker in Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa in south Lebanon.
A third strike injured a person in Aitaroun in southern Lebanon, according to Beirut.

A reservist officer was seriously maimed in a kaboom near an army post in southern Syria on Monday, the military said.
The cause of the blast is under investigation, the Israel Defense Forces said, though according to an initial probe, the officer was likely hit by an old Syrian mine.
The incident took place near the IDF’s Tel Kwdana post.
The reservist, in addition to being a tank officer, serves as a military rabbi.
He was taken to a hospital and his family was notified, the IDF added.
Israel has been involved militarily in Syria since the fall of the Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Leveler of Latakia... regime in December 2024. In the immediate aftermath, Israel occupied Syria’s demilitarized zone and destroyed most of the Assad military’s facilities in a widespread bombing campaign.
Since the fall of the Assad regime, the IDF has been deployed to nine posts inside southern Syria, mostly within the UN-patrolled buffer zone. Troops have been operating in areas up to around 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) deep into Syria, aiming to capture weapons that Israel says could pose a threat to the country if they fall into the hands of "hostile forces."
In recent months, the IDF has said ground troops conducted over 300 "routine operations" in southern Syria, including arresting suspected terror operatives, preventing "enemy entrenchment," and thwarting arms smuggling to Leb ...The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else?... [Rudaw] The strategic district of Deir Hafer in eastern Aleppo has witnessed on-and-off confrontations and military buildup involving Damascus-affiliated factions and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in recent weeks, a prominent war monitor reported Monday, warning that the tense calm is at risk of collapse.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) relayed that the road connecting Syria’s northern Aleppo province and the eastern Deir ez-Zor province to the country’s east through Deir Hafer "remains closed for the third day in a row."
The shut down coincides with "the arrival of Ottoman Turkish military reinforcements to Kuweires Airbase" in eastern Aleppo, SOHR added.
The Kuweires Airbase is controlled by the Syrian National Army (SNA) - a Ottoman Turkish-backed coalition of Syrian armed opposition groups, with an estimated strength of up to 70,000 fighters.
The SNA operates primarily in northern Syria and its operations have chiefly been directed at forces of toppled Syrian dictator Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad The Scourge of Hama... , the US-backed SDF and previously the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS).
SOHR also reported Monday that "military reinforcements have also reached the Tishreen Dam" along the Euphrates River, from both the SDF and "The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... and [Syrian] government forces." Both sides maintain a foothold near the strategic dam.
A day earlier, the war monitor - which relies on a network of sources across Syria - had relayed that "more than ten artillery shells" fell Sunday evening around the Tishreen Dam in "an exchange of shelling" between the SDF and "Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian factions."
On the same day, SOHR reported that a drone belonging to the SDF "targeted two military points" belonging to the SNA "in the village of al-Qishla" in eastern Aleppo, "leading to their destruction."
The war monitor additionally cited "sources" as reported that "a meeting was recently held in the city of Aleppo" between officials from the Syrian interim Government and SNA commanders, concluding with ordering the dispatch of "military units equipped with vehicles and heavy weapons, including tanks and artillery" to Deir Hafer.
The show of force is reportedly "meant to deter any potential military action" by the SDF and "signal readiness for any escalation."
Deir Hafer is a strategic area located in eastern Aleppo province. It remains largely under the US-backed SDF control, which functions as the de facto military force of northeast Syria (Rojava).
In recent weeks, Damascus-aligned factions have intensified efforts to seize the district, as it would enable them to open a logistical corridor to Raqqa province in north-central Syria. It would also allow them to put military pressure on the SDF in other regions crucial for the Kurdish forces’ operations, including Tishreen Dam and Qere Qozaq bridge, both on the Euphrates River.
The military build up follows weeks of sporadic attacks in the region.
On Tuesday, media outlets affiliated with the Kurdish-led administration in Rojava reported that "transitional government forces shelled the village of Zubaidah" in Deir Hafer using heavy artillery, injuring four children with varying degrees of severity.
Hawar News Agency (ANHA) further added that "militants" affiliated with the Syrian interim authorities "launched a drone attack at 6:30 pm today, targeting an SDF post" in Deir Hafer.
SOHR corroborated the dronezap, stating that "two SDF members were maimed in the drone attack carried out by government forces."
Earlier in September, the SDF accused Damascus-affiliated forces of carrying out a "massacre" in Deir Hafer, killing five women and two toddlers in dronezaps and artillery shelling - an accusation Damascus has firmly denied.
In a statement on X, the Kurdish-led forces reported that "seven civilians were martyred, including two children" and five women, in the village of Umm Tina, in an attack carried out by "pro-Turkey factions affiliated with the Damascus government. Three other women and a 60-year-old man were also injured in the attack.
SOHR also reported the Saturday incident, attributing the civilian casualties to "Syrian army shelling."
The Syrian defense ministry then denied responsibility, stating, "We affirm our categorical denial of the reports promoted by their [SDF's] affiliated media outlets regarding the Syrian Arab Army targeting the village of Umm Tina."
Instead, the ministry accused the SDF of shelling the village, holding the Kurdish-led forces "fully responsible for the massacre against the people of the village of Umm Tina."
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday the arrest of a former regime militant, known as “Jobar Sniper,” identified as Alaa Ghossab al-Soudi. The ministry stated that the arrest was carried out by the leadership of the Internal Security Directorate in Daraa, citing the suspect’s involvement in serious crimes against civilians during his service under the Syrian regime.
According to an official statement issued via the ministry’s verified accounts, al-Soudi is accused of participating in multiple armed operations, most notably the clashes in the Jobar neighborhood of Damascus. The statement added that he also took part in operations in Daraa, including heavy fighting in the city of Tafas, which resulted in injuries leading to the amputation of his hand.
The Interior Ministry statement further said that al-Soudi was involved in acts of desecration of victims’ bodies and reportedly boasted of his crimes, sharing photographic evidence of himself armed with various weapons.
