A massive nationwide crackdown on the deadly Sinaloa Cartel has culminated in more than 600 arrests, officials say.
The big swoop included 171 suspects in New England, as part of a week-long operation that targeted one of the world’s most powerful drug trafficking organizations, according to officials.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced Monday that from Aug. 25 to 29, agents arrested 617 people with ties to the cartel across 23 field divisions in the U.S.

The enforcement action, billed as a DEA surge, also netted a massive haul of drugs, firearms, and cash.
Among the seizures: 480 kilograms of fentanyl powder, 2,209 kilograms of methamphetamine, 7,469 kilograms of cocaine, 16.5 kilograms of heroin, more than 714,000 counterfeit pills, 420 firearms, and $11 million in cash.
"These results demonstrate the full weight of DEA’s commitment to protecting the American people," DEA Administrator Terrance Cole said in a statement.
"Every kilogram of poison seized, every dollar stripped from the cartels, and every arrest we make represents lives saved and communities defended. DEA will not relent until the Sinaloa Cartel is dismantled from top to bottom."
In New England, officials said 171 suspected cartel members were arrested, and 244 kilograms of drugs, 22,115 counterfeit pills, $1.3 million in cash, and 33 guns were seized.
Arrest totals included 64 in Connecticut, 49 in Massachusetts, 33 in New Hampshire, 11 in Maine, 10 in Rhode Island, and three in Vermont.
"They’re our public enemy number one in New England," said Jarod Forget, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s New England Division.
One of the largest coordinated takedowns in the region came on Aug. 27 in Franklin, New Hampshire, where 27 people were arrested after a three-month investigation.
Authorities said the suspects had trafficked fentanyl and methamphetamine from Lawrence, Massachusetts.
The operation underscored the cartel’s reach into both large urban centers and small rural communities.
"This shows that the Sinaloa Cartel’s tentacles spread far and deep; no community is spared," said Jim Scott, Special Agent in Charge of the Louisville Division, which covers Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Of course it was. And ten years ago. But if they can accomplish this much in five days, how quickly will they roll the whole thing up — or at least enough to whittle it down to a mere nuisance, given the usual 80/20 and 90/10 rules.
[REDSTATE] Federal authorities announced the arrest of a Guatemalan citizen with a criminal history involving sexual crimes against minors on Monday. And while the crimes alleged against him are heinous enough to be newsworthy on their own, it's the wording of the announcement that is turning heads.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in New Orleans posted information on Cristian Soto-Galeano and seemingly took a brutal jab at his diminutive stature.
The office's official X account describes Soto-Galeano as a morally stunted "sexual predator" who has previously served a prison sentence for crimes of a sexual nature against a "juvenile."
"ICE New Orleans arrested Cristian Soto-Galeano, a citizen of Guatemala," they wrote. "His criminal history includes a conviction for indecent behavior with a juvenile and was sentenced to 2 years in prison."
The arrest photo provided shows a smiling man being apprehended by an ICE agent. He barely reaches the agent's waist.
"We stand ready to face any challenge, big or small," ICE New Orleans bragged.

The governor also encouraged those witnessing arrests to film and share them with media outlets in a video posted on X on Saturday.
"Authoritarians thrive on your silence — be loud — for America," Pritzker said.
DHS shared a list of 11 men it said were released into Chicago after the city failed to coordinate with ICE officers, The Hill news outlet reported.
Hours before the announcement of the operation, the Supreme Court allowed ICE agents in Los Angeles to make immigration stops based on someone speaking Spanish or on their profession.

Understand the MSM western spin on this. If you follow the Arabic, BRICs, African press they are almost all taking the line that the IDF deliberately assassinated the negotiating team. That would presumably make the Western negotiating teams valid targets. That first impression will resonate - whether “true” or not. Violating Qatari airspace to make the hit - an air strike on a technically neutral country - is an act of war under any number of protocols. Since the US (and the UK) very visibly assisted Israel in defending against Houthi and Iranian missiles and drones, it will be easy for folks with preconceived notions to believe this was in fact vetted by TPTB.
I’ve been an Israel supporter for 40 years but this and other recent strikes on Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq etc in the past couple months really have me wondering about the longer term effects of their actions. While they decapitate the current leadership of their opponents they are certainly going to inspire escalation of the survivors and succeeding generations not to compromise and more importantly not to trust any truce offers in future.
The Sampson option seems more likely daily based on the continued ratcheting up of operations. If that’s the impression of one of their supporters I can only imagine what is running through the minds of their adversaries

The press is going to be hysterical no matter what. No mention of air defense is a tell that Qatar, at the very least, knew about it if not actively helped. Of course they denounced the strike. Arab Solidarity, and all that. (F11 on the press release template)
Looking at a map of how the Israelis could get to downtown Doha implies other players were in on it, too. Unless they launched off an aircraft carrier.
Hamas overplayed their hand with the 7-Oct massacre that put the IDF into a fix it once-and-for-all mode, thus spoiling the Palestinian Grift which has been running successfully for decades. It's not just NGOs and the UN making money. Regimes need enemies to distract their population. Even better if you can get some stooges to fight said enemies so you don't have to draft your surly population. Now the Arabs will have to find another tool to annoy the Juice.
