[ZeroHedge] According to a federal government memo reviewed by The Associated Press, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has directed the branches of the armed services to transfer up to 600 military lawyers to the Justice Department to serve as temporary immigration judges, following an urgent request for assistance from the Department of Homeland Security. The move is intended to ensure that President Trump's deportation of criminal illegal aliens proceeds smoothly.
The Aug. 27 memo stated that the military will send the first tranche of 150 attorneys - both military and civilian - to the DOJ "as soon as practicable." The first group is expected to arrive at the DoJ next week.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told Bloomberg that members of the Judge Advocate General's Corps, or JAG, would "augment existing resources to help further combat a backlog of cases by presiding over immigration hearings."

"Only these conditions will prevent Hamas from rearming and repeating the October 7 massacre again and again, as it openly vows to do," Netanyahu’s office added.
In a similar message, Defense Minister Israel Katz called on Hamas to either accept Israel’s conditions to end the war — including the release of all hostages and disarmament — or see Gaza City "become like Rafah and Beit Hanoun," accusing the terror group of continuing to "deceive and utter empty words."
Responding to Netanyahu and Katz, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid said that while the government "does not have to accept Hamas’s conditions, it must immediately return to negotiations and try to close a deal."

The report by the Vienna-based ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency said that as of June 13, Iran had 440.9 kilograms (972 pounds) of uranium enriched up to 60%, an increase of 32.3 kilograms (71.2 pounds) since the IAEA’s last report in May.

It remains unclear just how much the Israeli and US strikes disrupted Iran’s nuclear program. Israel targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites, saying it could not allow Tehran to develop atomic weapons and that it feared the Islamic Theocratic Republic was close. Iran has long maintained that its program is peaceful.
On June 22, the US dropped bunker-buster bombs on nuclear sites.
On July 2, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a law adopted by the Iranian Parliament to suspend all cooperation with the agency.
The only site inspected since the war has been the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, which operates with Russian technical assistance. Inspectors watched a fuel replacement at the plant on August 27 and 28.
The director general of the UN nuclear watchdog, Rafael Grossi, said that "technical modalities to enable the full resumption of Agency inspection should be concluded without delay," the report stated.
The report stated that while the withdrawal of UN inspectors from Iran during the war "was necessary given the overall security situation," Tehran’s subsequent decision to cut cooperation with the IAEA was "deeply regrettable."
As of June 13, Iran’s total enriched uranium stockpile was 9874.9 kilograms (21,770.4 pounds) which represents an increase of 627.3 kilograms (1,382.9 pounds) since the last repot in May, the report said.
The IAEA said that since June 13, it has "not been able to conduct the in-field activities required to collect and verify Iran’s declarations used to estimate the changes to the previously reported stockpile."
The IAEA also reported that inspectors have not been able to verify Iran’s near bomb-grade stockpile for over two and a half months, which it called "a matter of serious concern."
Iran is legally obliged to cooperate with the IAEA under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

[ZeroHedge] 'Trump Zone' Would See South Lebanon Depopulated For Qatari, Saudi-Bankrolled Projects

The more information we get about the "Trump economic zone" proposal in southern Lebanon, the worse it seems for the people who live there. The latest reports reveal the plan to totally depopulate the south of the country, to place the whole area under US military control, and to grant Israel to right to build “permanent” bases in what are currently Lebanese towns and villages.
The plan first appeared a little over a week ago, with the US presenting it as their proposal while Israel maintains they came up with the idea. The broad strokes are that it is meant to replace border villages with Lebanese government-run industrial zones.
But the plan would involve no less than 27 villages being depopulated, spanning the Israel-Lebanon border from Naqoura to Marjayoun. Among those, Israel is demanding it be granted permission to construct permanent military sites within 14 of the former villages.
The plan would involve the absolute destruction of Odaisseh, Kfar Kela, Houla, Markaba, and Ayta al-Shaab. Israel wants rights to occupy those militarily as well as Khiam, Ramiya, Yaroun, Aitaroun, Alma al-Shaab, Al-Dhayra, Marwahin, Maroun El-Ras, and Blida.
Underpinning the plan would be 1,500 to 2,000 US troops occupying the Trump Zone, which will be meant to “assure” Israeli settlers in northern Israel.
It is unclear from the reports if these will be US military personnel or simply American military contractors. Either way though, Lebanon would be ceding all sovereign authority over the south of their country.
The economic aspect of the zone is to create state-run industry in the south, which US officials have suggested would provide jobs even though nobody would be allowed to live there anyway. They have tapped Saudi Arabia and Qatar to bankroll this scheme.
This is the first I’ve heard of such a plan. It’s possible I just missed it, or forgot… is anyone here aware of this?
