A bit scant on the details, like who and when, and whether the miscreants have been arrested, but it sounds like the Feeding Our Future Covid aid fraud that Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison is entwined with. According to my notes: as of September almost 80 were convicted — mostly but not entirely Somalis/Somali-Americans — with about a billion dollars of fraud thus far identified, and over 200 in queue for their turn in the courtroom. Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly shot at U.S. Border Patrol agents Saturday during immigration operations in Chicago.
Border patrol agents were conducting immigration enforcement operations in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood, when a man driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and fled, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The Chicago Police Department told Fox News Digital there are no reports of anyone being struck by gunfire.
Following the shooting, a group of people threw a paint can and bricks at border patrol vehicles, DHS said.
FOX 32 Chicago reported a flash bang was deployed as crowds surrounded federal agents for multiple blocks.
At least one person was detained, according to the outlet.
City Alderman Michael Rodriguez of the 22nd Ward posted a video to Facebook accusing the agents of "causing all sorts of mayhem."
"They’re doing things that are unconstitutional, that are illegal," Rodriguez said. "They are causing fear and mayhem in our communities, and that's unacceptable."
Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez of the 25th Ward was also livestreaming the chaos on social media.
Sigcho-Lopez appeared to confront immigration agents, questioning them about why they were in the neighborhood, known as a largely Mexican-American community.
Chicago police were called for assistance and cleared the scene.
The shooter and vehicle remain at large, DHS officials said.
"This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction," DHS wrote in a statement on X. "Over the past two months, we’ve seen an increase in assaults and obstruction targeting federal law enforcement during operations."
Chief Border Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino fired back at an X user who said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents "illegally fired tear gas into the street," saying there is "more to come."
"Funny, you keep leaving out key facts including several shots fired at agents by a suspect, violent mobs throwing bricks and assaultive subjects," Bovino wrote in a post. "We still managed to apprehend illegal aliens today in Little Village. More to come.
"These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end."

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it foiled yet another attempt to smuggle weapons from Egypt into Israel today.
Troops of the Paran Regional Brigade conducted scans in areas on the Egyptian border where smuggling activity took place and located a package containing two machine guns and 10 handguns, the military says.
The weapons were handed over to the police.
Since Friday, the IDF says it has thwarted four weapon smuggling attempts from Egypt into Israel, some of them via drones.
In the past year, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egyptian border using drones

The drone was identified crossing the border by soldiers monitoring surveillance cameras and the Israeli Air Force’s air traffic control array.
Troops stationed in the area then downed the device. According to the IDF, the drone was found to be ferrying three assault rifles.
The weapons were handed over to the police for further investigation.
In the past year, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egyptian border using drones. Two smuggling attempts were foiled by the IDF on Friday.

The IDF says troops opened fire, killing one of the suspects.

[IsraelTimes] Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry says that the death toll has climbed to 69,169, with another 170,685 wounded since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, massacre in southern Israel.
The latest jump in deaths is attributed to more bodies being recovered under the rubble since the ceasefire was announced in the devastated Strip, and also because of the identification of previously unidentified bodies.
The toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed over 22,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,600 terrorists inside Israel during the October 7 onslaught.
Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas, including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.
Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 476. The toll includes two police officers and three Defense Ministry civilian contractors.
[IsraelTimes] The military says it shot dead a Palestinian “terrorist who was planning on harming IDF soldiers” during a raid in the al-Faraa refugee camp in the northern West Bank this evening.
The soldiers of the Paratroopers Brigade’s reconnaissance unit opened fire on the suspect, killing him, the IDF says, adding that no troops were injured.
The IDF does not elaborate on how the man was attempting to harm the soldiers.

The camp’s population has dropped to 25,301 individuals, according to the latest figures from camp authorities, down from more than 60,000 after the defeat of ISIS in 2019. The camp’s residents come from around the world, though most are Iraqis and Syrians.

The operation, expected to continue for several days, began just two days before Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa is set to meet US President Donald Trump ...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania... at the White House.
The operation included "61 raids and 71 arrests in various Syrian provinces, targeting ammunition and weapons depots as well as dens containing explosives belonging to the organization," said Nour al-Din al-Baba, spokesperson for the Syrian Interior Ministry, as cited by the state-run al-Ikhbariya channel.
Significant achievements so far include the capture of senior ISIS leader Abd al-Ilah al-Jumaili, known as Abu Imad al-Jumaili - a development Baba described as a "strong blow" that will limit the group’s field activity - along with the arrest of "a suicide cell" in northern Aleppo province.

Underscoring the "preemptive" nature of the campaign, the ministry’s spokesperson said ISIS cells were involved in serious crimes, including the liquidation of a citizen in the Kurdish-majority city of Afrin in northwest Syria, the targeting of a money exchanger, and multiple acts of kidnapping and murder.
These plots, he added, aimed to target government figures and various Syrian communities in an effort to "disrupt civil peace and foster fear."
Earlier in the day, the interior ministry said in a post on X that it had "launched a large-scale security operation in several provinces to pursue cells of the ISIS terrorist organization," adding that the operation is being conducted "in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service" and is "based on accurate intelligence gathered through systematic monitoring and tracking of suspicious movements."
The ministry stated that the campaign, "which falls within the framework of continuous efforts to combat terrorism and counter plots aimed at undermining security," targets "ISIS hideouts in several areas" and involves "pursuing hidden members" of the bully boy group. The operation "will continue for several consecutive days."
According to the statement, the operation has so far "resulted in the dismantling of several terrorist cells, the arrest of numerous wanted individuals, and the seizure of materials and evidence linking them to terrorist activities." The ministry added that the campaign reaffirms the firm commitment of Syrian security authorities "to protecting the nation’s security and stability."
In a series of posts on X, the ministry also shared photos purporting to show raids carried out across the provinces of Aleppo, as well as in the northwestern Idlib, central Homs, and southwestern Rif Dimashq provinces.
Importantly, the large-scale security campaign comes just two days before Syrian interim President Sharaa is scheduled to be hosted by US President Trump at the White House on Monday, amid reports that he will sign an agreement to join the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
The visit will mark "the first visit by a Syrian president to the White House in 80 years," according to Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. In a speech last week, Shaibani added the visit would help open a "new chapter" in relations between Damascus and Washington and would include discussions "beginning with the lifting of sanctions."
Sharaa’s visit also comes just days after the lifting of sanctions against him by the United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... Security Council (UNSC), the United States and the United Kingdom, with the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... expected to follow suit.
Washington and London have likewise lifted sanctions on Syria’s Interior Minister Anas Khattab, according to statements on their official websites. Sharaa and Khattab had previously been subject to financial sanctions over alleged links to ISIS and al-Qaeda.

In a separate strike on a car, in southern Lebanon’s Baraashit, the IDF said it killed a Hezbollah operative who was involved in attempts to restore the terror group’s military infrastructure in the area.
The IDF said the operatives’ actions were a violation of the ceasefire deal.
Lebanese reports said the IDF had carried out another drone strike on a car in the southern Lebanon town of Bint Jbeil that wounded seven people. There was no immediate comment from the IDF on that incident.
The Israeli army had previously told residents of four villages to evacuate buildings, warning that it planned to target Hezbollah’s military infrastructure.
According to the IDF, the targeted weapon depots were “located in the heart of a civilian population and serve as another example of the Hezbollah terror organization’s cynical use of Lebanese civilians as human shields.”
“The Hezbollah terror organization continues attempts to restore terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon and is focusing on rebuilding the [Radwan Force’s] capabilities with the aim of harming the State of Israel,” the IDF said.
The IDF said the existence of the Hezbollah infrastructure and weapon depots constituted a violation of the November 2024 ceasefire deal, which allows the IDF to respond to immediate threats.
