[IsraelNationalNews] For now, the quiet seems to be holding. No one is sure if this is the start of a real and lasting peace or if, as is more likely, this is just a chance for Hamas to regroup, rearm nd bury explosives on all the roads Israel might want to retake.
It’s clear Hamas wants a hudna. Whether they will be permitted to have one without terrible consequences seems unlikely.
Still, whatever the future holds, for now, life in Israel seems to have gone back to normal.
But for Jews in the rest of the world, there’s no way to go back. The old normal they grew up and thought would always be there is gone. Worse still, it turns out that it was never even really there at all.
A new day has dawned for Western Jews. That means it's time for them to awaken.
Until October 7th, most Jews outside of Israel lived their lives operating under certain assumptions.
1. They were respected, valued members of their society.
2. The old antisemitism that had plagued Europe before the war was a thing of the past, impossible to exist in a modern, educated nation.
3. The Jews’ tireless commitment to social justice and helping the oppressed had earned them the goodwill, respect, and admiration of other progressive minds.
Or at least reasonable courtesy.
They were living the dream.
Which is what has made it so hard to wake up. On October 7th, Israeli Jews awoke to horrors beyond belief. On October 8th, Jews in the rest of the world woke up to a different but equally painful shock, that everything they thought they knew was wrong.
In the weeks and months that followed, Jews in America and the Western world watched with astonishment as their friends, neighbors, even family members took to the streets in droves, protesting not the pogrom that had occurred but the Jews themselves. Rather than being comforted as the victims of a horrific crime, the Jews of the Western world found that they themselves were the ones on trial. Forced in front of their peers to defend their very existence.
As time went on, things have only grown worse. Protests and riots against the Jewish State became frequent and accepted, making Jews fearful of walking in their own cities. Jewish students found themselves attacked in their universities, supposedly places of enlightenment and rational thinking. Hate crimes and antisemitic attacks increased to record numbers that would have been inconceivable just a few years ago. As things went on, Jews were forced to hide their identities in public, something not seen since World War II.
What made all this so much more painful was that, unlike in Israel where the attacks were coming from an outside enemy, here the attacks all came from within. People found friends they had known their entire lives turning on them. Neighbors made it clear that they were no longer part of the community. Many even found that their own intermarried non-Jewish family now saw them as the enemy. The attacks hurt all the more because they were personal.
The censures came from people Jews knew and loved and whom they thought knew and loved them. People who should have known better. Who did know better but perhaps simply didn’t care once they had an acceptable outlet for the hatred that always lay boiling deep inside.
At first Jews were confused as to how so many people could be so misled. Some, like Professor Daniel Pipes, even blamed Israel, called the Jewish State a danger to Diaspora Jews, and threatened to stop donating to it (the fact is that Israel can do very well without those funds, ed.).
Then, as time went on, a harsh truth settled in. The Jew-haters weren’t being misled at all. They hadn’t fallen victims to the waves of lies being spread against the Jews. Deep down, this is what they had believed the entire time. The countless libels against the IDF weren’t what turned the world against the Jews. Instead, they finally gave the world an excuse to vent the hatred it had always felt.
All the progress, all the enlightened ideals, all the work of the past century evaporated before the eyes of the Western Jews. These same Jews who had spent their lives fighting for these ideals and values, who were there at every liberal protest and championed every civil rights and humanitarian cause, found that the world they were fighting for had no place for them in it.
What’s become clear is the events of October 7th didn’t cause Jews to lose friends. It exposed their enemies.
In the end it does not matter whether they act because they hate, because they don’t care, because they merely seek the status of displaying gentry beliefs, or if privately they belief contrary and even act contrary to their public statements. The harm done to Jews and Israel is the same.

There is absolutely nothing said about “The Jews” that is true for all of is.. Our cultural imperative is to look at all sides of a question to see what truths can be found therein, which means there is always someone who stops partway through the process.

Yes, we should know better than to paint everyone with the same brush. Also, nobody's perfect. We all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from our mistakes.
I recently met a couple of New Yorkers who expressed unhappiness with the likelihood that Mamdani will be elected. So it seems that all New Yorkers are not crazy. But, on the whole, I've pretty much given up on all of the big, blue cities. First DeBlasio and now Mamdani. Do they really like communism and sharia or are they just oblivious?

The non religious Jews in the prestige professions of law, medicine and finance, are probably still trying to decide.

Increasingly, I believe the majority of urban voters under the age of 40 are literally ill-literate, or semi-literate at best, culturally and politically ignorant at the most basic level, get most of their news and opinions from the internet and social media, and are easily swayed by the lure of free stuff.

I just read a 2023 post, reposted in recent days, from Jay Bhattacharya, who is currently director of the National Institutes of Health, reporting that he had just finished Kris Newby's 2020 book Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons.
The book is about a secret U.S. government program in the 1950s and 1960s that you probably haven't heard about, whose purpose was to create tick-borne bioweapons.
Is this the origin of Lyme disease, and the explanation for why the U.S. government is so hesitant to classify chronic Lyme as a disease?
Bhattacharya draws the following lessons from the book:
1. The mid-20th century US biomedical research establishment was psychopathic, wholeheartedly embracing reckless, deadly investigations in the name of developing vaccines and bioweapons.
2. It is possible (and perhaps likely, though not proven) that the emergence and spread of Lyme disease may have been caused by this research program, which included large open-air testing of intentionally infected ticks on US soil.
3. The bioweapons program used combinations of viruses and bacteria infecting the same tick to hide the body's immune response to infection from detection by standard medical tests.
4. Lyme disease and related syndromes are likely caused by more than just borellia burgorferi. Newby makes a circumstantial case for a shadowy rickettsia bacteria that Willy Burgdorfer studied, which he called the "Swiss agent."
5. The financial interests of biomedical researchers and testing companies peddling faulty tests — alongside their control over the official pronouncements and policy of the National Institute of Health and the US Infectious Disease Society of America — have frozen in place a diagnostic doctrine that has led to countless Lyme disease patients misdiagnosed and gaslit about the symptoms they are suffering.
Bhattacharya ends his remarks with this: "Similar tendencies in the biomedical research and medical establishments are still extant and may help explain many things about the Covid pandemic. History does not repeat, but it rhymes."
You cannot rule out anything with these people.
To be naive about them, as tens of millions of Americans are, involves a laziness and carelessness I cannot even fathom.
My rule of thumb at this point: assume the worst, and be pleasantly surprised if you're wrong.

The Vice-President’s communication staff invited me to follow him around on October 18th for Townhall when he came to Camp Pendleton to celebrate the Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary. The Veep did not make any major news or announce any policy changes. He just doubled down on what the Trump administration is all about—greatness —and that meant interacting with great Americans. The rest of the Pentagon allowed itself to be degraded into a woke nightmare of bulging waistlines, perversions, incompetence, and politicization, while all the Marines want to do is kill America’s enemies. These are tough, mean little guys. Jesse Kelly aside, Marines are generally tiny and wiry. This gave me great hope for the future, because the future is going to involve killing bad people, and it’s nice to know we’ve got folks eager to do it.
Watching the Vice-President work the crowd, including off-script banter and signing a bunch of the Devil Dogs’ covers thrown on stage, is watching a future master learning his art. Republicans, we’ve got somebody special in J.D. Vance. Now, I’ve known that for a long time. I’ve had the chance to talk to him and his wife, and, importantly, my wife had a chance to talk to him and his wife. My wife approves of them, and so do I. We both meet a lot of politicians; a lot of them are nice but unexceptional. Some are stiffs.

The thing about J.D. Vance is that he’s so resolutely normal, even when he says things that drive the elite crazy. He wears his famous background on his sleeve; the guy grew up in Appalachia in a troubled home, surrounded by drugs and poverty and all sorts of other tribulations. He joined the Marines, got a college degree, ended up at Yale Law School (which I do not hold against him), came out of nowhere to write a bestselling book, went to Silicon Valley, became a senator, and was picked by Donald Trump as his running mate days after they tried to murder 45/47. It’s no secret that a lot of Republicans didn’t want him. Well, the elites still don’t want him. That’s because J.D. Vance came from what they consider nothing and beat them all at their own game. He’s uppity, and that’s intolerable to the snobs and swells.
Vance’s strength is that he has tapped the magical power of not caring. This is because he knows the elites, having been invited to join them, and he is distinctly unimpressed with their credentials and pretensions, their airs and arrogance, and their total inability to competently or honestly run the institutions they have inherited as America’s cultural trust fund babies.

[ColonelCassad] The US is strengthening its technological containment of China through Taiwan. Palmer Luckey, founder of the American company Anduril Industries, announced the implementation of a strategy called "China 27."
Its essence is accelerated preparation for a potential military crisis around Taiwan, which, according to US intelligence estimates, could begin by 2027. Amid the growing rivalry between the US and China, Anduril is switching its projects to "wartime mode."
The company is focusing on the development of autonomous systems, drones, and surveillance equipment powered by artificial intelligence, capable of operating without human intervention and coordinating with each other through the Lattice OS cloud platform.
Luckey states: "Technological superiority is the best way to avoid war," drawing on the ancient wisdom of the Chinese strategist Sun Tzu. His approach is based on the concept of "technological deterrence"—where the adversary sees that any aggressive action will be instantly neutralized by algorithms and swarms of unmanned systems.
As part of the "China 27" program, all of Anduril's key developments must be ready by 2027. The company has already opened an office in Taipei, where it is establishing cooperation with local technology firms, primarily in the fields of microelectronics and processor manufacturing. It is noted that Anduril's strategy reflects a new paradigm of warfare: autonomy, speed, decentralization, and artificial intelligence are becoming decisive factors. Unlike established American contractors like Lockheed Martin, Luckey is emphasizing software-defined weapons that can be quickly scaled and adapted to new threats.
However, critics warn that overly aggressive militarization of technology could provoke an arms race and increase the risk of conflict. Nevertheless, Luckey is confident that readiness prevents war, while lag makes it inevitable.
Today, Anduril is valued at $14 billion, and its developments are already being used by the Pentagon. By 2027, the company intends to complete the development of a new defense system—a system where decisions are made by an algorithm, not a headquarters. If these predictions come true, these AI systems will become the first line of defense in a potential conflict over Taiwan.
As before, the US continues to engineer a future conflict, which it plans to start at a time convenient for itself and inconvenient for China, leaving it with no alternatives, as it did earlier in Ukraine.
Given that the CCP has had the exact same plan in the opposite direction for at least a generation, talking about it openly enough that it made the pages of Rantburg, it seems long past time for America to start taking the possibility seriously.
The militarization of Taiwan and organizational preparation for a future war are part of a comprehensive strategy. The trigger could be a complete severance of relations between Taiwan and China and recognition of Taiwan's independence from China by the US and its satellites.

Most of America was asleep, but a few night owls on the East Coast found their Disney streaming services stall.
Those calling Lyfts to get home from a Sunday night party were struggling. Routine activities were grinding to a halt.
As the eastern United States awoke, the scale of the problem became clear.
United Airlines and Delta found their passengers could not use online services. Commuters accustomed to scanning the New York Times' morning newsletter went without. Snapchatters fell silent; Reddit forums were hushed.
One third of all online users worldwide interact with Amazon Web Services (AWS) daily, according to DeepField Networks: companies ranging from Venmo to Reddit to Ring all rely on AWS servers. And, on Monday morning, the system was down - crashing a significant portion of the internet.
The fact such an outage could happen at all is 'surprising,' said cybersecurity expert James Knight, senior principal at Digital Warfare, which helps companies identify and shore up online vulnerabilities. It is also a troubling indicator of a new brand of chaos from which none of us are immune.
Knight told the Daily Mail: 'My first thought was wondering how it could occur. Apparently, some sort of database went down.
'It's surprising that one thing affected their network, because usually there's backup, and redundant systems all running at the same time. One particular system going down is very, very surprising.'
Knight admitted he was puzzled by the outage which, he noted, will have cost Amazon hundreds of millions of dollars.
It began at 3:11am ET. By 5:01am ET the problem had been identified, and a 'fix' deployed within 20 minutes.
Yet it remained unresolved and, at 8:48am ET, Amazon issued another update saying further fixes were being carried out.
The specter of a cyber-attack has inevitably been raised but, according to Knight, this is unlikely.
He explained: 'A cyber professional like myself, or whoever is currently looking at it, would be able to see if it were a hack. It's called an indication of compromise, an IOC.
'We'd see maybe a malware signature; some sort of unauthorized access; something in the logs showing that there's some sort of access gained, or some anomalous traffic. There's nothing to indicate that here.'
What's more, he said, Amazon is legally required to disclose any hack.
Instead, the company has said that the problem derived from their site in Virginia, known as the US-EAST-1 region.
Their last big outage was in 2021 - a sign, Knight said, of the actual resilience of AWS's systems. But problems, when they happen, can be devastating.
In July 2024 cybersecurity company CrowdStrike went down, causing the largest-ever IT outage in history.
The glitch itself lasted for less than 90 minutes, but it took some companies days to recover. One insurer calculated that the issue cost Fortune 500 businesses alone more than $5 billion in direct losses, with airlines and hospitals hardest hit.
Telecoms company AT&T found its network unavailable several times last year, with a particularly damaging 11-hour meltdown in February.
Knight said it is a sign of the times, and something we simply have to learn to live with.
'Our lives are online, and it's just going to happen,' he said. 'AWS, along with Google and Microsoft, are the gold standard in cloud computing. So it's not like AWS's rivals will be smug, because tomorrow it could happen to them.
'I can't really criticize AWS. They reacted pretty well. I don't know if anybody's head is going to roll, but it will be taken very seriously, and I think they're going to derive the lessons learned so that they can improve.'
Given the fiercely competitive cloud computing space, however, AWS will not be sharing their fixes with their rivals.
Does it mean that companies today have too many eggs in one basket? Should they be sprinkling their services around, using more than one cloud computing company?
Knight said they could in theory, but it would be difficult to administer, and not necessarily helpful.
'AWS is already divided in a number of baskets, and that's why people keep things in the cloud,' he said. 'Some of their servers are in the cloud in one location and some in another location: some on the East Coast of the US, some on the West Coast, some in Asia and it is spread around.'
By 11:43am ET on Monday, over eight hours after the first sign of trouble, Amazon sounded optimistic that the end was in sight.
'We have narrowed down the source of the network connectivity issues that impacted AWS Services,' the company said. 'The root cause is an underlying internal subsystem responsible for monitoring the health of our network load balancers.'
They said they were deliberately slowing some services 'to aid recovery' and were still 'actively working on mitigations.'
Knight said Amazon would be studying in detail what went wrong and learning lessons from the outage.
'They're going to determine the root cause,' he said. 'And then they're going to improve their procedures.'
They'll 'come out stronger for it,' he said, and they will do whatever they can to ensure that it doesn't happen again.
But the truth, that we will all have to live with is: it will. And next time it could be even worse.
So the thing to do is strive for resilience, perhaps by hiring Fred and badanov. Because Rantburg didn’t go down that day.

I always wanted to change DNS. The first change was one bit in front for mobile vs fixed device. Then carrier, next (current GPS) (this if mobile with carrier can create a back reference to the carrier's name for the device) and then an altitude and a random number.

BNP Paribas is the second largest Bank in all Europe. Trouble signs with the bank stock hit early in trading over in Europe, with the bank stock dropping about 5% at open, which fell further to 8.67% around 10:00 AM EDT, which has now lead to a ten percent drop triggering a “Circuit Breaker” halt in the Bank’s stock trading.
However, it appears unlikely this is a trigger event similar to the collapse of Bear Stearns in 2008, in that there is a concrete reason for institutions dumping their shares that is not related to the potential insolvency of Europe’s second-largest bank.
BNP Paribas shares tumbled as much as 10% on Monday, after a U.S. jury found the French bank helped Sudan’s government commit genocide by providing banking services that violated American sanctions, raising questions about whether the lender will be exposed to further legal claims. The federal jury in Manhattan on Friday ordered the French bank to pay a combined $20.5 million to three Sudanese plaintiffs who testified about human rights abuses perpetrated under former President Omar al-Bashir’s rule.

On paper, the 2024 General Election in Grady County, Georgia, looks like any other local contest. But inside the machine logs—the SLOG files from precinct tabulators—there’s a different story. A close read of those logs reveals error patterns that raise urgent questions about federal compliance, constitutional requirements, and basic public confidence in how votes are recorded and reported.
This post walks through the findings of the “2024 Grady County Georgia General Election — SLOG Error Analysis Report,” and then situates those findings alongside comments delivered to the Georgia House Blue Ribbon Study Committee on Election Procedures on October 16, 2025.
WHAT WAS ANALYZED

THE HEADLINE: ERROR RATE FAR ABOVE FEDERAL TARGETS
The report identifies 6,317 machine-logged errors across four categories, affecting 58.66% of all ballots. When measured against the federal target error rate of 1 error per 10,000,000 ballot positions, the observed rate is 1 error per 58 positions—about 0.0173%.1 That’s approximately 172,543 times higher than the Election Assistance Commission’s (EAC) target referenced in federal law at 52 U.S.C. § 21081 (often cited as “1 in 10,000,000” under the Help America Vote Act’s performance metrics).
Primary error types found:
“Ballot has been reversed” — 2,908 instances (46.03% of all errors)
“Ballot format or ID is unrecognizable” — 1,776 instances (28.11%)
“Could not find QR code on ballot” — 1,349 instances (21.36%)
While that last category is the smallest by count, it has outsized significance because of how similar QR code-related defects have played out in real elections.
CONSTITUTIONAL AND LEGAL CONTEXT RAISED BY THE REPORT
The presentation’s conclusions explicitly connect these findings to:
Federal standards: The report states the observed error rate deviates sharply from the EAC’s benchmark and concludes the system “FAILS EAC STANDARD.”
Georgia Constitution Article II, Section I, Paragraph I (“Elections by the people shall be by secret ballot and shall be conducted in accordance with procedures provided by law.”): The authors argue the system, as deployed, does not meet minimum standards and is therefore “in contravention” of the Constitution’s method-of-voting clause.
It’s worth noting the presentation asserts “No change since deployed in 2020, even after known issues reported,” which, if accurate, raises oversight and certification questions—especially in light of the EAC’s earlier acknowledgment of QR-code defects and Tennessee’s response.
A PATH FORWARD
Investigate the 2024 and 2025 elections statewide with a particular focus on precinct-level SLOGs and QR-code handling behaviors.
Require evidence of conformity with EAC performance thresholds before redeployment.
Consider operational mitigations: expanded parallel testing, real-time anomaly detection, and contingency workflows for precincts that encounter QR-related errors.
Evaluate alternatives that honor Georgia’s constitutional requirements and maximize public verifiability—up to and including hand-marked, hand-counted paper ballots where practical and procedurally sound.
The central promise of elections is not just that the math adds up at the end—it’s that every step along the way is auditable, understandable, and compliant with law. Grady County’s logs are a timely reminder that the details inside our systems matter, and that restoring trust requires not only correct results, but also systems that demonstrably meet the standards the law—and the people—demand.
