Activists Try to Remove 2,000 Beagles from Wisconsin Research Facility
[Breitbart] Hundreds of animal welfare activists tried to free thousands of Beagles from a breeding research facility in Dane County, Wisconsin, on Saturday but many of the protesters ended up being arrested and tear gassed.

The incident happened at Ridglan Farms where the activists tried to remove 2,000 dogs housed there, Fox 6 reported, noting those in the group traveled from numerous states to participate.

In a statement following the action, Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett said, “It was clear from the beginning that this was not going to be a peaceful protest. The DCSO response to the active break-in attempts by hundreds of protesters was appropriate and proportionate to the behaviors observed. With the assistance of our partner agencies, we were able to maintain order without anyone being seriously injured. We care about the welfare of all animals in our Dane County community. Resorting to crime, chaos, and violence is not the solution.”

Photos showed the mass of activists outside the facility and the dogs in cages:

Protest organizer Wayne Hsiung was arrested along with several other people, DCSO noted. In a statement from jail, Hsiung said, “Only a deeply corrupt system will use tear gas and rubber bullets against peaceful activists saving dogs. We are seeing the worst in humanity today. But, in the courage of the rescuers, also the best.”

Activists hope their protest on Saturday brings more attention to the issue, per the Fox article.

“Ridglan Farms breeds beagles for scientific experiments. The owners recently agreed to give up their breeding license by July 1 as part of an agreement to avoid animal cruelty charges,” the outlet said.

Approximately 1,000 activists gathered at the facility in Blue Mounds early Saturday and law enforcement warned them that anyone crossing onto private property would be arrested, Fox News reported Sunday.

Officials said hundreds of protesters tried to break barriers while some in the group blocked roadways to slow the response of law enforcement and emergency crews attempting to get to the scene.

Video footage showed the activists swarming the area where signs clearly marked signs read “Private Property” and “No Trespassing,” per Channel 3000:

#6  I’d rather things be tested on animals than go straight from bench testing to humans. Because if we don’t check to see if it blinds dogs, we’ll discover the hard way that it blinds people.

And if the animals aren’t as close as possible to clones. there will always be the question whether the results are wonky because of variation in the animals or because the thing being tested isn’t consistent. Which will mean that a great many more animals would have to be used in the test to generate a sufficient size study to give useable statistics.

TL;DR: The activists are dangerously counterproductive idiots and ought to be thrown into prison post haste. But we already knew that from first principles.

Eight children were killed in a shooting in the US state of Louisiana; killer was troubled US Army vet separating from wife
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] Eight children, aged between one and 14, were killed in a shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana. Local police Chief Wayne Smith announced this on April 19.

"We currently know of at least 10 people injured by gunshot wounds last night during a domestic dispute. Eight of them died," he told reporters.

According to police, one person fired the shots. He fled the scene after stealing a car. Law enforcement officers killed the gunman during a pursuit, NBC News reported.

More details from bbc.com
Eight children killed in Louisiana shooting, Shreveport police say

Eight children, aged from one to 14 years old, have been killed in a shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, which police are describing as a "domestic disturbance".

Officers said the incident began about 05:00 local time (10:00 BST). A single gunman shot 10 people before fleeing in a stolen car. Police then chased and killed the suspected shooter.

"We have hurting families, we have hurting police officers, coroners' personnel," Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux said. "This affects the entire community, so we all mourn with these families."

Police did not identify the suspected gunman or the victims, but said some of the children were related to the deceased man.

"This is a tragic situation - maybe the worst tragic situation we've ever had in Shreveport," the mayor added. He asked for prayers for the families and the city.

New Orleans News site WDSO adds:
CNN reports that police have identified the gunman as Shamar Elkins.

Two adult women are currently being treated at a local hospital for serious injuries. A teenager also sustained injuries, which are considered non-life-threatening.

The Shreveport Police Department says it responded to a shooting just before 6 a.m. and determined that this was a domestic call in nature.

According to police, the suspect first shot a woman on Harrison Street before traveling to the residence in the 300 block of West 79th Street, where the shooting continued.

After leaving the scene, the suspect carjacked a man at gunpoint near the intersection of Linwood Avenue and West 79th Street.

Police located the stolen car, and a chase ensued into Bossier Parish. At that time, three police officers discharged their firearms, shooting and killing the suspect.

According to police, they believe he was the only person who fired gunshots at the location.
Even more from KTBS:
Shreveport police were on the scene of a mass shooting in the Cedar Grove neighborhood Sunday morning that left eight children dead and two adults maimed, according to SPD.

The suspected shooter, Shamar Elkins, is also dead. He was shot at a scene in Bossier City after a police chase.

The initial investigation indicates the shooting was domestic situation.

One shooting occurred in the 300 block of West 79th Street near Linwood Avenue. Police say there are two other related shooting scenes. One approximately a quarter-mile away on Harrison Street between Wallace Avenue and Bernstein Avenue and the third in Bossier City on Brompton Lane near Long Acre Drive.

"We want to thank LSP for coming in and helping because this is a this is a large operation. We have three scene of the crimes just here in Shreveport. One of them is incredibly gruesome in nature and it's going to take several hours to process. I know that some of the suspect's children resided there. I'm not sure if at one point in time he lived there," Cpl. Chris Bordelon said.

Seven children were found dead in one house. The eighth appeared to have tried to escape off the roof on the back of the house, Bordelon said.

According to Louisiana State Police, the agency now in charge of the Bossier City investigation, the suspect was killed by Shreveport police following a pursuit across the river into Bossier City. KTBS 3 News has also learned that the suspect likely intentionally drove into that neighborhood while being chased because he had a connection to a house there.

THE SUSPECT
Elkins, 31, has a prior criminal conviction in Caddo District Court. He was arrested in March 2019 on a charge of illegal use of weapons and carrying a firearm on school property. According to a police report, Elkins said he walked outside to meet a buddy who was going to pick him up but another person in the car whipped out a rod and pointed it at him. Elkins admitted firing five rounds at the car as the driver left. The incident took place less than 300 feet from the fenceline at Caddo Magnet. The gunshots were fired in the direction of the school while children were playing outside, according to the police report.

Elkins pleaded guilty to the illegal weapons charge in October 2019. The second charge was dismissed, and Elkins was placed on probation for 18 months.
The New York Post wraps it up in a bow, with photos:
Shreveport gunman who murdered 8 kids — including 7 of his own — ID’d as Army vet Shamar Elkins who shared post of daughter hours before slaughter

The Louisiana gunman who murdered eight children — including seven of his own — before he was killed was a 31-year-old Army vet who posted a picture of himself with one of his daughters hours before Sunday’s massacre.

Elkins also shot two women in the head, with one described as in life-threatening condition.

Elkins was subsequently chased by local police, who shot him dead as he drove into neighboring Bossier City.

On his Facebook page, Elkins shared a picture of him with his eldest daughter as she ate a burger Saturday, hours before his rampage.

“Lol!!!! Took my oldest on a lil 1 on 1 date had to catch her down bad ugh ugh,” the killer wrote, along with a string of laughing emojis.

Two weeks ago, Elkins shared a picture of himself posing with seven children, calling them “all my kids,” as he described taking them to church for an Easter service.

“Happy Easter had a wonderful time at church for the first time with all my kids what a blessed day,” he wrote in the Facebook post.

But Elkins also hinted at mental-health struggles in another recent Facebook post, where he called for God to “guard” his mind.

“Dear God, Today I ask You to help me guard my mind and my emotions,” read the post dated April 9.

“When negativity arises, remind me to say, ‘It does not belong to me, in the name of Jesus,’ ” he said.

“When depression tries to settle in, when anger rises, when anxiety or panic comes, give me the awareness to recognize what is not from You and the strength to reject it immediately in the name of JESUS.”

The mass murderer’s wife previously shared a picture of Elkins in a US Army uniform in 2016, as she awaited his return from active service.
Finally, the Times of Israel chimes in with the story from the Ay Pee feed:
Seven children were killed inside the second house, and one was found dead on the roof after apparently trying to escape, Bordelon said. Another child jumped off the roof and was expected to survive after being taken to a hospital.

State Rep. Tammy Phelps said some children tried to get away through the back door.

The victims were three boys and five girls, according to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s office.

Shamar Elkins and his wife were in the middle of separating and were due in court Monday, said Crystal Brown, who is a cousin of one of the wounded women. Brown said the couple had been arguing about the separation before the shooting.

“He murdered his children,” Brown said. “He shot his wife.”

Elkins shared four children with his wife and three children with another woman who lived close by and who was also shot, according to Brown. All the children were together at one house, she said.

Brown described all the children as “happy kids, very friendly, very sweet.”

Massive 7.5-magnitude earthquake hits off Japanese coast, tsunami alert issued
[FoxNews] A strong earthquake took place off the northern coast of Japan Monday afternoon, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency to put out a tsunami alert in the area.

The quake, registering a preliminary magnitude of 7.5, occurred off the coast of Sanriku in northern Japan at around 4:53 p.m. local time, at a depth of about 6 miles below the sea surface, the agency said.

House Oversight Chair: 'Something Sinister' About Disappearances, Deaths of 11 High-Level Scientists
[RedState] The issue of our missing or killed scientists is growing more concerning still. While, at first, many wrote these concerns off as just another conspiracy theory, it's looking now like it may be more than that. On Sunday, the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Republican Representative James Comer (KY-01) appeared on the Fox & Friends weekend show to express his growing concern.

Rep. Comer said:

We're very concerned about this. This is a national security concern. This would suggest that something sinister may be happening. So we want to see what we can do and hopefully with our bully pulpit, we can maybe bring attention to this, and have anyone that knows of any information out there, have them contact Congress so we can help determine what's going on here, and prevent this from happening in the future.

GOP Rep Pushes National Concealed Carry for Members of Special Forces
[Breitbart] Or you can come to Texas.
Rep. Pat Harrigan (R-NC) is pushing legislation that would grant federal concealed carry authority to past and current members of military special forces.

The legislation is titled the “Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act.”

Newsweek reported Friday that, via the Act, “Eligible veterans and active-duty personnel would be granted nationwide concealed-carry privileges, effectively overriding state-level restrictions that can differ significantly from one jurisdiction to another.”

Upon introducing the legislation, Harrigan said, “Federal law already trusts retired police officers to carry concealed nationwide. That makes sense. But it makes no sense that an active or retired SEAL or Green Beret, someone who spent a career mastering firearms under the most demanding conditions in the world, has no equivalent recognition under federal law. This bill fixes that.”

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea again tests cluster munitions in launch observed by Kim and his daughter
[IsraelTimes] Observers say the Iran war may have prompted North Korea to display it has cluster munitions, which Iran fired at Israeli cities during the war

North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
said Monday it test-launched ballistic missiles with cluster bomb warheads in the second such test this month, likely underscoring its push to expand its capabilities to penetrate US and South Korean defenses.

The report by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency appeared to refer to the multiple ballistic missile launches South Korea, Japan and the US detected Sunday off North Korea’s east coast.

KCNA photos showed North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
and his teenage daughter, both wearing black leather jackets, watching from a coastal observation point as a projectile soared over the water, trailing gray smoke. South Korea’s spy service recently assessed that the daughter, reportedly named Kim Ju Ae, could be considered Kim’s heir.

North Korea has tested cluster bomb warheads before. But observers say the Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
war may have prompted North Korea to display it has cluster munitions and accelerate efforts to develop better ones.

The destructiveness of cluster munitions has been highlighted in the ongoing war, with Iran firing such weapons at Israel to challenge its air defenses. The warheads burst open at high altitudes, scattering dozens of smaller bomblets across a wide area that are difficult to intercept.

More than 120 countries have signed an international treaty banning the use of cluster munitions, but North Korea, Iran, Israel and the United States are not among them.

Kim oversaw the launches of five upgraded surface-to-surface Hwasong-11 Ra ballistic missiles with cluster bomb warheads and fragmentation mine warheads, KCNA said.

The missiles struck an island target and Kim expressed satisfaction over the launches, saying, "It is of weighty significance in military actions to boost the high-density striking capability," according to KCNA.

In the earlier launch this month, North Korea tested Hwasong-11 Ka surface—to-surface ballistic missiles with cluster bomb warheads that it said "can reduce to ashes any target covering an area of 6.5-7 hectares (16 to 17.2 acres)."

North Korea has been pushing to expand its nuclear arsenal and acquire an array of high-tech weapons since Kim’s nuclear diplomacy with US President Donald Trump
...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down...
fell apart in 2019. Among them are multi-warhead nuclear missiles, hypersonic weapons and submarine-launched ballistic missiles, whose possession would sharply increase prospects for North Korea defeating US and South Korean missile defenses.

Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to restore diplomacy with Kim, and the North Korean leader has recently left open the door for dialogue with Trump but urged Washington to drop demands for the North’s nuclear disarmament as a precondition for talks.

Trump is to travel to Beijing for a rescheduled summit with China’s Xi Jinping in May. Some observers say North Korea’s recent testing activities were likely meant to increase its leverage in future dealings with the US, as the Trump-Xi meeting could provide a diplomatic opening with Pyongyang.

Why travel rewards programs feel worse than ever now
[USA Today] Remember when travel rewards programs actually rewarded you? You collected points, earned status, and got "free" flights.

So why does it all feel like a trap now?

Somewhere along the way, these schemes stopped rewarding loyalty and started exploiting it. Points quietly got devalued. Elite tiers required ever-higher spending thresholds. "Free" flights started coming with hundreds of dollars in taxes and fees.

Frequent Flier Miles Devaluation, Blackout dates limiting redemptions, and additional fees give me the greatest frustration.

#1  Greece ditches fingerprint and facial scans for Britons after new EU travel rules sparked border chaos across Europe

British holidaymakers heading to Greece this summer are set to avoid the controversial new EU border checks, after Athens pulled the plug on fingerprinting and facial scans.

The move comes as Brussels presses ahead with its Entry/Exit System (EES), which requires all non-EU visitors to give biometric data at airports and border crossings.

The scheme, designed to replace traditional passport stamping and monitor the 90-day visa-free rule, has already caused crippling delays.

Tourists have been told queues could stretch up to four hours under the new regime, which is now fully operational.

But in a bid to avoid disruption at the height of summer getaway season Greece has, for now, opted out.

In Germany, special forces stormed a church due to an armed criminal
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] Special forces stormed a Sikh temple in the western German city of Moers due to a suspected armed man inside. Bild newspaper reported this on April 19.

An armed conflict erupted within the church's religious community, involving approximately 40 people. During the conflict, both sides used weapons and firearms. It was believed that one of the community members ran into the church with a firearm and hid there.

About a hundred police officers arrived at the scene and surrounded the church. Düsseldorf police special forces and a police helicopter were then called to the church. A short time later, the alarm was cancelled, as the armed man was not found in the church.

The conflict is said to have arisen over the temple's funds, which are being claimed by several groups within the temple's leadership, which was replaced the day before. One eyewitness to the clash claimed that the conflict was pre-planned and provoked by one of the parties.

According to preliminary reports, 11 people were injured in the incident, mostly from head injuries. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and provided assistance to the victims. At least one suspect has been detained. Criminal police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Olde Tyme Religion
Pope issues amended Biblical quote
[JACK Unheard] NEW: Outrage has broken out after Pope Leo appeared to quote Jesus using a passage that does not exist in the Bible.

"Jesus told us, ’Blessed are the peacemakers, but woe to those who manipulate religion in the very name of God for their own military, economic, or political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth.’"

The first line echoes scripture.

The rest does not appear in any biblical passage.

The Pope is being accused of using a fabricated quote from Jesus to push a political message.
