[FoxNews] A New York community is mourning the death of a retired NYPD officer who died after reportedly suffering a heart attack while shoveling snow during last weekend’s major winter storm.
Roger McGovern, a 60-year-old retired NYPD sergeant, collapsed while shoveling at Our Lady of Victory Church in Floral Park, Long Island on Sunday, according to ABC 7.
"They said that he was at church and he had a seizure [and] by the time he got to the hospital, he passed," friend Kevin Troy told the outlet

I admit up front I have never shoveled snow. But I have heard that guys who have heart attacks while shoveling tend to be alone out there. They lie in the snow for several minutes or maybe even hours before anyone misses them. Prompt treatment might have saved them but nobody is there to administer CPR or to call 911.

[Hot Air] According to both the law and medical ethics, doctors and hospitals are required to treat emergency cases. There is also an expectation that medical professionals will behave... professionally, and not let their personal opinions determine their willingness to treat patients or their level of care.
Of course, nobody can force a doctor to work on a patient in non-emergency situations, but we are now moving into an era where doctors and nurses are allowing their political opinions to influence their work, and in turn undermining the faith of a large fraction of the population that they can safely use the health care system without worrying that some political activist will not treat them, or treat them with the same care with which they would a different patient.
I have written several times before about how politicized medicine has become, and how medical journals and medical schools have ventured into politics, up to the point of promoting the use of politics to determine medical care. The distribution of the COVID vaccine was influenced by race, with minorities being put higher up on the list when the vaccine was scarce than patients with multiple risk factors, and transplant lists have been rejiggered to place some racial minorities higher on the list as a measure of racial "equity."
Cancer patients have been dropped by clinics for holding the "wrong" political views, and Vinay Prasad described his first brush with political medicine when a resident lectured a dying patient on his political views.
Physicians Against Antisemitism is just one filter to discover medical people — not just doctors— who don’t like our kind of people, and are willing to put their actions on the side of that sentiment.

Too bad there hasn't been any publicized body camera footage of encounters with such medical personnel & systems. Probably a federal law prohibits obtaining such.

Real simple to fight. Any doctor or hospital that refuses care to any person due to that person's occupation should be FOREVER banned from receiving Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or other government-backed payments, including insurance subsidies. Those doctors and hospitals will soon either go bankrupt or be forced to provide services only to a select few that can afford to flaunt the law.

“Effective today, Lexie Lawler is no longer allowed to practice nursing in Florida,” Uthmeier stated on X, confirming that the Florida Department of Health has moved to revoke her license.
The action follows a prompt review by Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital, which terminated Lawler last week after she shared an expletive-filled video wishing for Leavitt to suffer a “severe fourth-degree tear” and permanent physical damage during childbirth.
Lawler’s comments sparked widespread condemnation and prompted state officials to declare her conduct as an “ethical red line” warranting removal from the medical profession.
Uthmeier, who had previously called for the immediate revocation of Lawler’s credentials, praised Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo for what he called “decisive action.”
“Making statements that wish pain and suffering on anyone, when those statements are directly related to one’s practice, is an ethical red line we should not cross,” Uthmeier wrote on X. “She doesn’t belong anywhere near patients.”
The move comes as Florida officials also target a second healthcare professional, registered nurse Erik Martindale, for similar politically charged social media posts.
Martindale faced backlash after a post on his Facebook account stated he would refuse to provide anesthesia for “MAGA” supporters undergoing surgery, claiming that such a refusal was his “right” and consistent with his “ethical oath.”
Martindale later said his Facebook and Instagram accounts had been “hacked.” However, according the Libs of TikTok, account reported the same messages appeared on his Threads account, prompting critics to question the question that claim. Florida’s Voice has reached out to Martindale through his Facebook Messenger seeking comment.
The Florida Department of Health has the authority to issue emergency suspensions of nursing licenses if a practitioner’s conduct is found to pose an immediate risk to public health, safety, or welfare.
[FoxNews] Hackers reportedly had ability to record calls 'at will'
Chinese state-linked hackers breached mobile phones at "the heart of Downing Street" amid a global cyber-espionage campaign over several years targeting telecommunication networks, according to reports.
U.S. officials first alerted its allies in 2024 after finding out that hacking groups had gained access to telecom companies around the world, according to The Associated Press.
The campaign reportedly targeted multiple countries, including the U.S. and the other members of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance: Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
The breaches allegedly gave China access to the phone data of millions and the possible ability to eavesdrop on calls, read text messages and track users’ locations.
The hackers also had the ability to record calls "at will" according to Anne Neuberger, who was a deputy U.S. national security adviser between January 2021 and January 2025, The Telegraph reported.
Neuberger said that the "Chinese gained access to networks and essentially had broad and full access," giving them the capability to "geolocate millions of individuals, to record phone calls at will."
U.S. intelligence agencies believe the breaches date back to at least 2021, but they were only identified and disclosed by U.S. authorities in 2024.
In 2024, The Associated Press reported that U.S. federal authorities urged telecommunication companies to boost network security. The guidance, issued by the FBI and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, was to help root out the hackers and prevent similar attacks in the future.
A joint cybersecurity advisory was issued in August 2025, with the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and allied partners warning that Chinese state-sponsored actors were targeting networks globally.
"The malicious activity outlined in the advisory partially overlaps with cybersecurity industry reporting on Chinese state-sponsored threat actors referred to by names such as Salt Typhoon," an NSA release said.
In the U.K., officials raised concerns that senior government figures may also have been exposed. One source told The Telegraph that the breach went "right into the heart of Downing Street."
Similarly, The Telegraph was told that there were "many" different hacking attacks on the phones of Downing Street staff and across wider government, especially when Rishi Sunak was prime minister between 2022 and 2024.
Yuval Wollman, a former Israeli intelligence chief, also told The Telegraph that Salt Typhoon was "one of the most prominent names" in the cyber-espionage world.
"While much of the public reporting has focused on U.S. targets, Salt Typhoon’s operations have extended into Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where it has targeted telecoms firms, government entities and technology companies," Wollman of cybersecurity platform CyberProof added.
[IsraelTimes] North Korea fired what appeared to be two ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Tuesday, Tokyo says.
South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff also said it had detected a “projectile” being fired towards what Seoul calls the East Sea.
Japan’s coast guard, citing the defense ministry, says it had detected two ballistic missiles and that both were estimated to have already splashed down.
Japanese news agency Jiji Press reports the two missiles had landed outside of the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone, citing defense ministry sources.
The test is Pyongyang’s second of the month, following a salvo of missiles fired hours before South Korea’s leader headed to China for a summit.
It comes a day after a high-level visit to Seoul by the Pentagon’s number three official Elbridge Colby, who hailed South Korea as a “model ally.”
North Korea has stepped up missile testing significantly in recent years.
Analysts say this drive is aimed at improving precision strike capabilities, challenging the United States as well as South Korea, and testing weapons before potentially exporting them to Russia.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday halted new H-1B visa petitions by state agencies and public universities as the state investigates potential program abuse.
In the letter, the governor cited reports of cases in which U.S. workers were allegedly displaced by lower-paid foreign labor.
"In the most egregious schemes, employers have even fired American workers and replaced them with H-1B employees, often at lower wages," Abbott wrote.
"Rather than serving its intended purpose of attracting the best and brightest individuals from around the world to our nation to fill truly specialized and unmet labor needs, the program has too often been used to fill jobs that otherwise could—and should— have been filled by Texans," he added.
Abbott said the pause will give state and federal officials time to enact reforms while Texas continues investing heavily in education and workforce training to meet labor demands without relying on the visa program.
The move comes after President Donald Trump in September alleged that while the visa program was intended to supplement the U.S. workforce, it has since been used to replace American workers.
"The large-scale replacement of American workers through systemic abuse of the program has undermined both our economic and national security," Trump wrote in a Sept. 19 proclamation.
Abbott’s order requires state agencies and public universities to submit a report to the Texas Workforce Commission by March 27, detailing their H-1B filings, current visa holders, countries of origin, job classifications, visa expiration dates, and efforts to recruit qualified Texas residents.
The freeze will remain in effect until May 31, 2027, unless approved in writing by the Texas Workforce Commission.

So says NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte who warned Monday the European Union (E.U.) would have to more than double current military spending targets to be able to replicate America’s contribution to the security of the continent.
“If anyone thinks here … that the European Union or Europe as a whole can defend itself without the U.S., keep on dreaming. You can’t,” Rutte told E.U. lawmakers in Brussels per an AP report.
Europe and the United States “need each other,” he further warned as Russia continues to hammer at the door in Eastern Europe with its aggression against Ukraine.
NATO’s geo-political ambitions have been tested since U.S. President Donald Trump’s renewed his push to annex Greenland, which is a semiautonomous territory of NATO ally Denmark.
The 32-nation military organization is bound together by a mutual defense clause, Article 5 of NATO’s founding Washington treaty, which commits every country to come to the defense of an ally whose territory is under threat.
The AP report further sets out at NATO’s summit in The Hague last year, European allies — with the exception of Spain — plus Canada agreed to Trump’s demand they invest the same percentage of their economic output on defense as the United States within a decade.
They pledged to spend 3.5 percent of gross domestic product on core defense, and a further 1.5 percent on security-related infrastructure – a total of five percent of GDP – by 2035, as Breitbart News reported.
“If you really want to go it alone,” Rutte said, “forget that you can ever get there with 5 percent. It will be 10 percent. You have to build up your own nuclear capability. That costs billions and billions of euros.”
France has led calls for Europe to build its “strategic autonomy,” and support for its stance has grown since the Trump administration warned last year its security priorities lie elsewhere and Europeans should consider their options.
The AP report concludes with the note Rutte told the lawmakers that without the United States, Europe “would lose the ultimate guarantor of our freedom, which is the U.S. nuclear umbrella. So, hey, good luck!”

[RedState] The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) held an all-day hearing Tuesday to finalize its findings on what caused last January's mid-air collision between a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter and a commercial passenger jet over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport just outside of Washington, D.C.
After a nearly year-long investigation into the January 29, 2025 crash, which resulted in the deaths of 67 people, NTSB investigators determined that a number of factors, including the placement of a helicopter route so close to commercial air traffic and Army helicopter training standards, led to the tragic collision.
Before releasing its final conclusions, the board revealed some new information on the collision itself: "According to the NTSB, the helicopter contacted the left wing of the airplane with its main rotor. The helicopter was approaching from the right and the airplane was in a left turn, meaning the left wing was low. That means the two aircraft just clipped each other."
The board ultimately determined the primary probable cause to be "the FAA's placement of a helicopter route in close proximity to a runway approach path." From the hearing transcript:
