At the University of Leeds where Deutsch is chaplain, the Jewish campus Hillel House was defaced Friday with "Free Paleostine" graffitied on its walls.
The campaign against Rabbi Deutsch has been waged since at least November 2023, when a petition was circulated by Leeds students demanding the rabbi’s dismissal from the chaplaincy of their university, as well as those of Sheffield, York, Bradford and Leeds Beckett universities, for having "left the UK to participate in a foreign war with the Israeli army, even going as far as sharing videos on an open student WhatsApp group."
On Friday, students at Leeds University staged a protest in the city calling for Deutsch’s dismissal, which the Daily Mail reported was organized by the Paleostine Solidarity Campaign and Socialist Worker Student Society. A similar protest was held on campus in November.
The Friday protest came after the campaign against Deutsch was picked up by the Moslem Association of Britannia, a self-described "grassroots" organization shown by the London-based Jewish Chronicle to have ties to Hamas, which called the rabbi a "war criminal complicit in genocide."
Like other diaspora communities, British Jewry has faced rising levels of antisemitism during the current Gaza conflict, including recent attacks on a kosher supermarket and a group of Israelis putting up posters of hostages. A recent poll found "frightening" rates of antisemitic tropes among British youth.
Rabbi Deutsch and his wife Nava both trained for two years at Ohr Torah Stone’s Straus-Amiel Institute for rabbinical emissaries in Jerusalem. They previously worked with the Jewish community in Addis Ababa, Æthiopia.

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Crimean resident Murat Kadyrov to 11 years in a maximum security colony, finding him guilty of transferring eight thousand rubles to the Islamic State.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don convicted a Crimean resident accused of transferring money to the Islamic State.
A resident of Crimea, Murat Kadyrov, has been accused of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 205.1 and Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (promoting terrorist activities), TASS reported on February 9, citing the court’s press service.
According to the investigation, Kadyrov corresponded with individuals from whom he learned the details for transferring money to the Islamic State*. After that, he transferred money twice - in June 2017 and in 2018, while being in Simferopol and Sevastopol. At the same time, he knew that he was financing the Islamic State* and its structural divisions. In total, he transferred 8.2 thousand rubles, writes RIA Novosti.
Kadyrov did not admit his guilt. The court sentenced him to 11 years in prison to be served in a maximum security colony.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" wrote that at the beginning of December 2023, the Southern District Military Court sentenced a resident of Neftekumsk, accused of involvement in the Islamic State, to five years and six months in prison.

[NYPost] A self-described Paleostinian migrant from northern Africa
...so not a Palestinian...
stole a pro-Israel flag from a Long Island porch — then pummeled the homeowner who tried to stop him in a wild caught-on-video attack, officials said.
Bechir Lehbeib, 26, allegedly stole the flag — which declared "In This Home We Stand with Israel — from Aleksandr Binyaminov’s porch, cops said.
Binyaminov, who said one of his wife’s relatives was killed in the Oct. 7 Hamas ...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,... terror attacks on Israel, was left bruised after the attack and blamed President Biden’s border policies for the clash.
The homeowner told The Post he was alerted by his Ring security system that someone was at his house and he looked at video of the front of his house to see the theft in progress.
"So I got dressed, came out. I confronted him," Binyaminov said. "I told him, ’Give me the flags,’ and he just started fighting with me and punching me in my face."
Binyaminov said he "didn’t think twice" about running after Lehbieb to retrieve the flag.
"I was a little hot and it meant something to us," he told The Post.
"He basically got me in a choke position, threw me on the floor and head butted me. He was saying, ’I’m from Paleostine. You’re killing Jews.’ That’s all he said," Binyaminov said.
The accused later allegedly ranted to to cops that he hated Israeli Jews and made other hateful statements, authorities told The Post.
He told police who arrested him, "If I see the flag of the people that killed my people, we will have a problem."
Lehbeib, who descibed himself as Paleostinian, entered the U.S.from Mexico in November, authorities said. Officials said they aren’t sure of his country of origin, but said they believe he migrated from somewhere in the northern part of Africa.
He is now facing hate crime charges of second degree assault and robbery and criminal mischief. He was arraigned on Monday in Nassau District Court and Lehbeid was detained on $50,000.
Binyaminov had a red bruise under his right eye from getting pummeled by Lehbeib while he lamented the migrant crisis in the US.
"This is happening because of open borders, and before letting people in we need to see their backgrounds. We need to protect our country, our citizens, our taxpayers," Binyaminov said.
The devout Jewish man called Hewlett is a "very quiet" neighborhood where "nothing ever happens", adding, "I don’t know what he was doing in our neighborhood, targeting our Jewish members."
"I know he’s facing a couple of felonies, but this was his choice," Binyaminov said.
Nassau County authorities were outraged.
"Nassau County is not a sanctuary county," said county Executive Bruce Blakeman, who announced the arrest along with Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly.
The circumstances surrounding Lehbeib’s roaming of the Hewlett neighborhood are under investigation, authorities said.
Lehbieb, who said he was in the neighborhood looking for work, had two listed addresses: one in Jamaica, Queens and a second at the hotel-turned-shelter Ramada by Wyndham on Staten Island.
He is believed to have taken a bus from the Queens address to Hewlett, cops said.
"It’s very suspicious," Blakeman said. "He came a long way from Staten Island to get here. If he’s looking for work why did he have nefarious ideas.
"It’s absolutely crazy," he added.
Blakeman expressed concerned that murderous Moslems and organized criminals are pouring over the lax U.S.-Mexican border, unvetted and wanting to cause harm.
"These aren’t people kissing the ground when they come here. They’re spitting on our flag," he said.

Earlier today, the court also granted bail and ordered the release of Awami Mulsim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in the same case.
Shiraz Ahmed Ranjha, a PTI lawyer was representing Khan and Qureshi in the court, while the judge rejected the prosecution's request to hold the hearing on another day.
The decision was issued after a hearing in the case was held on February 6. The court had summoned Khan, Qureshi and AML chief to appear earlier this week, the orders for which it gave during a hearing held on February 3.
On December 27, Qureshi was initially arrested in a General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case from Adiala jail, but later he was booked in 12 other cases related to violent mostly peaceful May 9 protests, while Khan was arrested in the GHQ attack case on January 9.
The May 9 riots were triggered almost across the country after the deposed prime minister's arrest in the £190 million settlement case. Hundreds of PTI workers and big shots were put behind bars for their involvement in violence and attacks on military installations.
During the protests, the miscreants targeted the civil and military installations including — Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The military termed May 9 "Black Day" and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act.
The approval of petitions by both politicians comes two days after the country witnessed the conduct of its 10th general elections on February 8.

The NDM politician was contesting from the NA-40 constituency in North Waziristan for a seat in the National Assembly and lost against a Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf ...a political party in Pakistan. Earlier this year in January, Dawar's convoy came under a gun attack by bully boyz in Tappi village in North Waziristan.
North Waziristan District Police Officer (DPO) Rohan Zaib confirmed to Geo News about the attack but noted that the politician remained safe due to the law enforcers deployed for his security.
According to the police, several gunshots were fired at Dawar's convoy but he remained safe because his car was bulletproof and the security personnel accompanying him fired back at the assailants, which forced them to flee from the scene.
"Cowardly attacks cannot dampen our spirit. The patrons of the attackers should come in the field themselves instead of using others' children against us," Dawar said in reaction to the attack.

[Reuters] - Israeli forces have discovered a tunnel network hundreds of metres (yards) long and running partly under UNRWA's Gaza headquarters, the military says, calling it new evidence of Hamas exploitation of the main relief agency for Palestinians.
Army engineers took reporters for foreign news outlets through the passages at a time of crisis for UNRWA, which has launched an internal probe and seen a string of donor countries freeze funding over allegations last month by Israel that some of its staff doubled as Hamas operatives. The entire stock of the UN's 'Chateau Petrus' was said to have been lost.
The Palestinians have accused Israel of falsifying information to tarnish UNRWA, which employs 13,000 people in the Gaza Strip and has been a lifeline for the aid-dependent population for years. The agency runs schools, primary healthcare clinics and other social services, and distributes aid, describing its activities as purely humanitarian.
UNRWA Headquarters is in Gaza City, among northern areas that Israeli troops and tanks overran early in the four-month-old war against the governing Islamist faction Hamas, sending hundreds of thousands of civilians fleeing southward. Civilians? Yes civilians. Why do you ask ?
Reporters on the closely escorted trip entered a shaft next to a school on the periphery of the U.N. compound, descending to the concrete-lined tunnel. "We had a basis of information, but not enough to be able to dig down 20 meters and find it, we needed a bit more. There’s information we get from prisoners we capture, from computers we find, from documents, maps," he said.
The IDF in recent weeks has returned to carry out smaller operations in the northern Gaza Strip, after largely destroying Hamas’s fighting capabilities during the early stages of the ground offensive.
Col. Nissim Hazan, a senior officer in the 401st Brigade, said the IDF can now carry out raids with much smaller numbers of forces, for operations "that require much more research and much more time, and a lot more patience."
There is still a risk to these raids, with Aharon noting that two soldiers under his command had been killed during their operation to reach the Hamas data center — Maj. (res.) Yitzhar Hofman, a commander in the Israeli Air Force’s elite Shaldag unit and Maj. David Shakuri, the deputy commander of the Combat Engineering Corps’ 601st Battalion — both by sniper fire.
Hazan, who is tasked with coordinating the brigade’s underground operations, said the main entrance to the tunnel was located under a UNRWA school in the area. However, a lie repeated often enough remains a lie... it had been blocked off by Hamas by the time troops arrived. Instead, combat engineers dug down around eight meters to find the shallowest part of the underground passage.
At the UNRWA headquarters, Aharon said his forces found several caches of weapons belonging to Hamas when they raided and battled Hamas button men for the complex, although it was after the UN staff had evacuated.
"Grenades, rockets, launchers, explosives, a large amount of weapons that would put any Hamas company to shame," he said.
The IDF also said that in some of the offices of UNRWA officials, troops found equipment and documents that indicated "that the same offices were also used by Hamas terrorists."
"There is no doubt that UNRWA staff knew that [Hamas] was digging a massive tunnel beneath them," Aharon said. "There’s a perimeter wall, a gate, cameras, at the gate they log who comes in and out. Whoever worked at UNRWA knew very well who was coming in, and who they were covering for."

The main target of the strike was Ahmed al-Yaaqoubi, who the IDF and Shin Bet say was responsible for the security arrangements of senior Hamas officials and served as a senior officer in the Rafah district’s secret police department.

[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday that troops along with Border Police officers destroyed the Hebron home of one of the perpetrators of a deadly November shooting attack, when holy warriors targeted the "tunnels" checkpoint on the West Bank’s Route 60, south of Jerusalem.
Cpl. Avraham Fetena, 20, a Military Police soldier from Haifa, was critically maimed in the attack and later departed this vale of tears. Five other people were maimed.
The military did not identify the name of the attacker whose home was destroyed, saying only that he was one of three people who carried out the attack and that the homes of the two other perpetrators had already been demolished.

Salah’s condition is unknown, but he is believed to have been injured in Saturday’s strike.
