Several Al-Shabaab bases destroyed in Somalia

The operation comes at the time the national army is engaged in fierce battles against the group, which has also lost several strategic towns in the process. The army is involved in active operations within the central regions, targeting Galmadug and HirShabelle states.

At Bakool region in Southwest, state media reports, the national army destroyed several al-Shabaab hideouts, flushing out the holy warriors in the process. Several items including machine guns and grenades were recovered, authorities said.

"Somali National Army dismantles al-Shabaab hideouts in Bakool Region," state media reported while acknowledging support from the local community which has been instrumental in the fight against the group for the last 12 months.

"In a decisive operation, the Somali National Army has eliminated al-Shabaab hideouts in Lukugooraw, Edayin, Dabgal, and Elahaley, effectively dismantling their presence in the region," read the statement posted on X formerly known as Twitter.

Somalia: Maritime police intensifies patrols after failed pirate hijacking
[AFRICANEWS] Somalia’s maritime police force on Thursday intensified patrols in the Gulf of Aden following a failed pirate hijacking of a ship earlier this week.

The commander of the maritime force in the semiautonomous region of Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
, Abdullahi Mohammed Ahmed, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that patrols in the waters had doubled and were on a 24-hour rotation to deter pirates.

"Here now we have many challenges. We had initially dealt with the pirates and stopped their activities, but recently on top of al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
and IS we have had to look out for them again," he said referring to the Islamic State

On Sunday, the U.S. military said it had captured five men who had attempted to hijack an Israeli-linked tanker off the coast of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
U.S. and British militaries said the armed attackers seized the Liberian-flagged Central Park, managed by Zodiac Maritime, in the Gulf of Aden.

The pirates had attempted to escape using speedboats but surrendered after being pursued by American destroyer the USS Mason, a statement from the U.S. Military’s central command said.

The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. war.

But the Pentagon said this latest attempt was carried out by Somali nationals.

That is the first in many years and has led the Somali government to appeal for International support to deter a resurgence of piracy in the Horn of Africa.

"Puntland State is all alone in this security effort. No assistance from the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Mission in Somalia, the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
or any international assistance. But we are doing our best," Mohammed said.

Somalia had for years been blighted by piracy, with the peak being 2011, when the U.N. says more than 160 attacks were recorded off the Somali coast.

The incidents have declined drastically since then, however, largely due to the presence of American and allied navies in international waters.

Africa Subsaharan
Nigeria: 4 soldiers and militiamen killed in a jihadist ambush
[AFRICANEWS] Four members of the Nigerian security forces were killed Tuesday in an ambush set by jihadists in northeastern Nigeria, anti-jihadist militias said on Wednesday.

The jihadists, affiliated with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
in West Africa (ISWAP), attacked a team of soldiers and anti-jihadist faceless myrmidons who were heading on cycle of violences towards the town of Monguno, located 140 km from the capital Maiduguri of Borno State, two militias said.

"ISWAP bully boyz ambushed the patrol team and opened fire on them in Lingir village, leading to a shootout. There were so many of them that the team had to flee," it said. Musa Kaka, leader of an anti-jihadist militia in Monguno.

"Two soldiers and two anti-jihadist faceless myrmidons were killed in the fighting and several were maimed," he added.

The jihadist insurgency which has lasted for 14 years in Nigeria is one of the main security challenges facing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who came to power last May and who notably promised to put an end to this violence in the northeast.

Even if the intensity of jihadist abuses has gradually decreased in recent years, ISWAP, which seceded from Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
in 2016, still remains active in the Lake Chad region where it regularly festivities with its former group.

ISWAP regularly carries out attacks in rural areas on the Maiduguri-Monguno highway, killing and kidnapping motorists, as well as periodic deadly incursions into Monguno against soldiers and anti-jihadist militias.

In recent days, its fighters have ordered residents of villages along the highway between the towns of Gubio, Damasak, Layi, Jamu, and Kinsari to leave their homes, according to Musa Kaka.

The jihadist insurgency in Nigeria has left 40,000 dead and more than two million displaced.

Saudi Arabia expels 350 tribal fighters from mercenary unit in Lahj
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Saudi Forces Command expelled hundreds of members of "Dera al-Watan" factions, most of whom are members of al-Subaiha tribes in restive Lahj

governorate, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
According to informed sources, Saudi forces expelled about 350 members of the bad boy Salafist factions present in the Lahj camps, which had received their training earlier this year in Saudi camps, without giving a reason.
Couldn't be trusted?
Sources explained that these elements did not include their names in the financial reward statements that Soddy Arabia

has been disbursing to these factions for three months.

They pointed out that the leadership of the factions of the Salafist groups does not have any military experience other than delivering speeches that spread hatred against the Yemeni people in Sana’a under regional and sectarian banners, noting that a number of Saudi officers are the ones who manage the financial and administrative affairs of these factions.

Saudi Arabia established "Dera al-Watan" factions at the beginning of this year (2023) with the aim of achieving military balance with the UAE-backed factions "Al-Amaliqa" and others that are spread in the southern governorates.

Europe
Somali, Syrian migrants denied entry at Estonian-Russian border this month
[ShabelleMedia] Estonia has raised concerns about the alleged manipulation of immigration by Russia along Europe’s eastern borders, pointing to an increase in asylum seekers attempting to enter Estonian and Finnish territories.

The country’s Interior Ministry reported that around 30 migrants colonists, mostly from Somalia and Syria, made unsuccessful attempts to cross into Estonia from Russia via the Narva crossing since November 16. As a result, none of them sought asylum, and all were refused entry, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

According to InfoMigrants, last week, an additional 150 individuals were also refused entry into Estonia. In this regard, Veiko Kommusaar, Head of the Border Guard Division of the Estonian police said that these individuals typically travel independently, and there is no apparent coordination from Russian officials, unlike the 30 people in the previous week.

In addition, Minister of Interior Affairs of Estonia Lauri Laanemets labelled these irregular crossing attempts at the EU’s external eastern border as a "hybrid attack operation" designed to compromise security and create unrest among the population of the Baltic state.

The refusal of entry for 30 migrants colonists at the Estonian-Russian border coincides with an increase in the number of irregular migrants colonists at the Finnish-Russian border. In response to the situation, the EU’s border agency Frontex recently announced that it will deploy 50 officers to Finland, starting today, to address and manage the growing challenges posed by the influx of migrants colonists.

Starting in February next year, the Ivangorod border crossing connecting Russia and Estonia will cease to permit the passage of cars. This development is expected to impact transportation between Tallinn and St. Petersburg. Efforts are underway to assess the feasibility of alternative travel options, including the potential for bus travel from Tallinn to St. Petersburg, with the consideration of crossing the border on foot in Narva.

On Monday, the Russian government asserted that Russian border guards were fulfilling their duties in accordance with established rules. The Finnish-Russian border, spanning 1,340 kilometres, is about three times longer than Estonia’s border with its eastern neighbour.

Moreover, Minister Laanemets reported that on Monday, November 20, migrants colonists were appearing at the Narva border crossing in a coordinated way, arriving in groups of seven to 11 individuals. He also alleged that Russian border guards were documenting the events with a pre-prepared recorder as the Estonian authorities turned back the migrants colonists.

Since May 2021, a significant number of migrants colonists have been attempting to reach Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia via Belarus, resulting in a humanitarian crisis for those stranded along the EU’s external border.

Grupa Granica, an NGO network monitoring the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border, has reported that at least 37 migrants colonists have bit the dust in the border region since August 2021.

Four migrants pushed out of a boat die just yards from Spain's southern coast
[AFRICANEWS] Four migrants colonists have died meters (yards) from shore in southern Spain after being forced out of the boat they were traveling in, officials said Thursday.

The Spanish government press office in the southern province of Cádiz said 31 other people from the boat, including six children, survived the Wednesday afternoon incident and four were taken to a hospital.

The press office said 27 passengers were forced out by the vessel's drivers near Camposoto beach, which is where the four died. Another eight were forced off close to another beach, it added.

A video shot by a man who works in the area showed migrants colonists being pushed overboard from the boat and others in the choppy waters trying to swim to shore.

Javier González, who runs a nautical company, said he and his son managed to rescue eight migrants colonists. He said that they and other workers helped the migrants colonists on the beach.

In a telephone message to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, he said no police or marine rescue workers took part in in the initial rescue. The boat drivers sped off in the boat, the press office said.

Police using drones, tried to locate it but were not successful, the office said. Officials said the migrants colonists were from unspecified North African countries.

Tens of thousands of migrants colonists from sub-Saharan countries try to reach Spain each year in large open boats launched from northwest Africa.

Most go to the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, while others try to cross the Mediterranean Sea to mainland Spain.

Several thousand are known to die making the hazardous journey. This year, more than 2,500 migrants colonists died or went missing while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to get to Europe, according to the UN's International Organization for Migration.

7 people arrested during pro-Hamas rally near Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting where one carried swastika
[NYPOST] Seven people — including one minor — were busted as pro-Hamas protesters descended on the streets surrounding the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting, clashing with cops trying to keep the demonstration under control, police said Thursday.

One person was charged with a felony, five people were hit with misdemeanor raps and one juvenile was cuffed as the enormous crowd gathered along Sixth Avenue where hordes of tourists were waiting in line to see the iconic ceremony on Wednesday night.

One protester was seen climbing on top of a pillar bearing the News Corp building’s address, and another was seen carrying a massive sign bearing a swastika that compared the Israel Defense Forces to Nazis.

Additional NYPD units were called in as the crowd — chanting "River to the sea," waving Paleostinian flags and signs calling for the "end to genocide" — began to attack coppers and the rally descended into "complete chaos," law enforcement sources told The Post.

"They should have shut it down. They lost control of the street. I was shoved, punched, kicked. It’s bulls—t," one cop caught in the fray said.

Iraq
In Iraq, 10 people were killed in an attack on the family of a deputy.
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] At least 10 people lost their lives as a result of an attack by unknown assailants on the relatives of a local deputy in Diyala province in eastern Iraq, Reuters reported, citing sources in Iraqi security forces.

Another 14 people were injured. The incident occurred at night near the village of Umraniya. The militants planted two explosive devices on the roadside.

In addition, a sniper was shooting at a group of people. A curfew was imposed in the area where the attack took place.

In turn, the Iraqi TV channel Alsumaria reported that a “terrorist attack using sniper weapons” had been carried out in Umraniya. The report claims that three people were killed and five others were injured in the attack.

As Regnum reported , in October 2022, in the Tarmiya area in the center of Baghdad, militants staged a terrorist attack with a car explosion . The bomb detonated near the local security building. As a result of the incident, four people were injured.

Some time later, a second explosion occurred at the same place. Four more people were injured because of it.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF pounds Gaza as ceasefire crumbles: Explosions rock Palestinian territory as hostilities resume against Hamas despite hostages remaining trapped after terror group fired rocket into Israel in final minutes of the six-day truce
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas expired early Friday morning

  • Negotiations broke down as dozens of hostages remain trapped in Gaza

Israel this morning relaunched its brutal offensive on Hamas, firing a barrage of missiles and sending warplanes screaming over Gaza as a week-long ceasefire expired.

The truce officially expired at 7am local time (5am GMT), but the IDF claimed that Hamas 'violated' the ceasefire early and launched rockets on Israel in the early hours, with footage shared to social media appearing to show attacks on the city of Sderot close to the border with Gaza.

In response, the 'IDF renewed fire against the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip', Israeli military announced on X.

Just under an hour before the ceasefire officially expired, the IDF claimed it had 'intercepted' another attack, adding that a 'number' of rockets had been fired by Hamas before the truce ended.

The Hamas-led health ministry in Gaza said 14 people had been killed in the first two hours after fighting resumed. Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said, there were '14 dead and dozens injured, most of them women and children'.

Though the seven-day truce offered a welcome reprieve from bloodshed and saw Hamas release dozens of Israeli and foreign hostages, dozens more remain trapped inside Gaza as fighting resumed this morning.

Yet despite the fresh violence, Qatari and Egyptian mediators are still negotiating a new extension of the seven-day truce, according to a source who spoke anonymously with AFP.

'Negotiations are still ongoing with Qatari and Egyptian mediators despite the resumption of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza,' the source said.

Within minutes of announcing the resumption of military action in Gaza, Israeli forces bombarded the northwest with rocket fire, and aircraft were seen circling the skies overhead, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Interior in Gaza.

The dramatic re-escalation of the conflict saw strikes land in the southern Gaza regions of Khan Younis and Rafah.

Reports indicate tanks have been swiftly positioned to the area, and in a tweet half an hour after the relaunch, the IDF said it had deployed 'warplanes' focused on the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas 'didn't respect its obligation to release today all the abducted women and launched rockets toward the citizens of Israel.'

He insisted that because the conflict is now back on, the 'government of Israel is obliged to accomplish the targets of the fighting', which he claimed was to 'release the hostages' and 'to liquidate Hamas.'

Hours before the ceasefire officially ended at 7am Friday morning in the war-torn region, footage purported to show rocket sirens sounding near the Israel-Palestine border for the first time in a week.

According to footage posted on social media by a reporter from Yeshiva World News, a Jewish outlet, sirens could be heard in Sderot followed by sounds of a large explosion.

Further surveillance video also appeared to show a rocket launch towards Sderot intercepted by the Iron Dome. It is unclear if reports of a blast in Sderot are the same incident the Israeli military claimed it had 'intercepted.'

Reports of Telegram communications from the Shehab News Agency, considered tied to Hamas, had also claimed gunfire and several explosions struck northern Gaza earlier on Friday.

attack; family of Ofir Tzarfati, presumed captive since rave, is told he is dead

Two Israelis who have been designated as missing since the Hamas attacks of October 7 were confirmed Thursday to have been killed.

Kibbutz Nir Oz resident Aviv Atzili was killed during the assault on southern Israel, the community announced on Thursday evening.

And the family of Ofir Tzarfati, who had gone missing at the Supernova music rave, has been told he is dead, according to the city hall of his hometown of Kiryat Ata.

Tzarfati had been presumed captive until now. He was celebrating his 27th birthday at the party with his girlfriend, Shoval, and friends, when he was kidnapped to Gazoo

by hard boyz who killed at least 364 people at the music festival and kidnapped many others. A date of death and other details have not been provided.

Atzili, 49, had also been presumed kidnapped since the attack. On October 8, Atzili’s phone was tracked in Gaza, and friends said that while his family’s home had been burned down, there was no blood or signs of struggle, and he was declared missing and presumed captive.

His wife, Liat Beinin Atzili, was kidnapped during the attack and held by hard boyz in Gaza until her release on Wednesday night. It is unknown whether the news on Aviv Atzili’s fate was tied to his wife’s release.

Atzili is also survived by three children.

"Aviv was one of the great pillars of the Nir Oz community," a statement published by the kibbutz on Thursday evening read. "Painter, cyclist, lover of the land. May his memory be a blessing."

On the morning of October 7, Atzili, who was part of the Kibbutz Nir Oz civilian security team, left his home to fight the Hamas-led hard boyz who had invaded the kibbutz, as thousands invaded the south, killing more than 1,200 people and seizing some 240 hostages. His wife stayed behind in the safe room of their home, where hard boyz found her and took her captive.

Atzili worked at the kibbutz, running the garage for agricultural machinery. He was a metalwork artist on the side and had recently showcased his work at local art exhibitions.

On Wednesday night, his wife Liat Beinin, who is a dual Israeli-US citizen, was released as part of a Qatar

The couple’s children, Ofri, 22, Neta, 20, and Aya, 18, were unharmed in the attack, and have been staying in Eilat with their grandmother since October 7.

IDF says 23 arrested overnight in West Bank, including 10 Hamas operatives; Israeli police bust weapons smuggling from Jordan, 4 Bedouin arrested

Along with the arrests, the IDF says, troops seized military equipment, Hamas flags and NIS 250,000 slated for terror purposes.

Police say they foiled smuggling of 137 guns, in biggest-ever arms bust on Jordan border

[IsraelTimes] Police say officers and IDF troops recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 137 guns into Israel from Jordan, in what it says is the largest-ever weapons bust on the Jordanian border.

In recent months, police’s Magen anti-smuggling unit has been following a weapons smuggling ring involved in many attempts to bring guns into Israel from Jordan, police say.

Last Thursday, members of the unit stationed near the southern town of Tzofar alerted other forces of an attempt by the ring to bring weapons over the border.

Troops dispatched to the scene identified a vehicle approaching the border from the Israeli side and chased after it.

Four suspects, including the alleged leader of the ring, were arrested. They are identified by police as residents of Bedouin communities in the Yeruham area, in their 20s and 30s.

In the area, police say the forces found 137 weapons, including 120 handguns and 17 M-16 assault rifles, as well as dozens of weapon parts and some 250 magazines, with an estimated value of NIS 6 million ($1.6 million).

Weapons smuggling is a constant challenge for Israel, along its long, porous eastern border with Jordan, and in the West Bank. Officials believe most guns are being used for underworld crime, and have vowed to crack down as part of an effort to end years of bloodshed in the Arab community.

Man hit by friendly fire during terror attack dies of wounds, relatives of Jerusalem killers arrested
[IsraelTimes] A passerby who was shot by off duty soldiers who mistook him for a terrorist gunman in Jerusalem has died of wounds sustained during the Thursday morning incident, Shaarei Zedek hospital says in a statement.

Yuval Doron Castleman would have turned 38 on Friday. The hospital says doctors worked for hours to save his life after he was brought to the hospital with critical injuries.

On Thursday morning, Castleman jumped out of his car after spotting two Lions of Islam opening fire on people at a bus stop, in an attack later claimed by the Hamas

terror group. He and two off duty soldiers shot up the attackers, killing them, but the troops then turned their weapons on Castleman, thinking he was one of the attackers.

The Mevesseret Zion resident "formerly served in the security services, was always a hero and the first to jump into action to save a life, as he did this time," the hospital says in a statement.

Zionist entity refuses Hamas proposal to free seven more Israeli captives in exchange for extended truce
That’s because the agreement is for ten Israeli women and children in exchange for thirty imprisoned Arab terrorists. Hamas handed off the last mother and her two sons (ages 4 years and ten months) to Islamic Jihad, is now claiming they’re dead, and wants to get full value for them as if they were still alive.

, in exchange for extending the temporary humanitarian truce on Thursday as per the same requirements that had been met during the previous six days," Hamas stated in a brief blurb.

In a related context, al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said it asked its fighters to be on high alert for a return to fighting if the truce was not renewed Thursday.

Hamas releases propaganda video regarding the Bibas family

on October 7, but Yarden was kidnapped separately from the rest of his family.

Hamas yesterday issued an unverified claim that Shiri, Ariel and Kfir had been killed in an Israeli bombardment; the IDF said it was looking into the "cruel" claim.

Teen girl, brother kidnapped from Bedouin village in Israel to be freed by Hamas
[NYPOST] Two teens kidnapped from a Bedouin village in southern Israel are expected to be released on Thursday as Israel and Hamas
...one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
struck a last-minute agreement to extend their ceasefire for hostages deal now for a seventh day.

The family of Aisha al-Ziadna, 17, and her brother Bilal, 18, were told Thursday that the teens would be part of the seventh round of hostages released, as mediators work on talks to further extend the truce, Ynet news reported.

Hamas has so far released two Israeli hostages, Mia Schem, 21, and Amit Soussana, 40, who are now back in Israel, according to the Israeli Defence Forces.

Schem, an Israeli-French citizen, was among the dozens of partygoers kidnapped by Hamas during the Tribe of Nova music festival on Oct. 7. She was featured in a Hamas video a week later receiving medical care for a maimed arm.

Soussana was kidnapped from her home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza while hiding in a safe room and suffering from a fever, the Times of Israel reports.

Hamas is expected to release at least 10 hostages today, including two Russian citizens, with the al-Ziadna family praying for Aisha and Bilal’s safe return.
