As Trump predicted, statues of Washington and Jefferson are next
[Hot Air] Remember all those fights about removing historical statues?

Of course you do, since the battles continue to this day. The issue flares up every once in a while, particularly when Democrats want to get their voters fired up against the evil American system of government, which is almost always.

One big battle took place during the Trump administration, and Trump dismissed the (largely successful) movement to remove statues and building names that glorified members of the Confederacy.

Trump had a simple argument: wiping away these statues and references to the Confederacy had nothing to do with confronting America’s racist past, and everything to do with wiping away American history as a whole. Trump predicted that Washington and Jefferson were next on the chopping block because they, too, were slaveholders.

Liberals screamed bloody murder, denying that they were engaged in such a nefarious plot. Washington and Jefferson weren’t comparable to Confederates (they aren’t, either), so no worries.

As is so often the case, Trump lost the battle but proved to be right.

#5  They may have trouble finding a big enough rock for Stacy.

Cast bronze. Thin out the copper with extra tin and it’ll probably stretch far enough, though it may end up being a wash on the inside of the mold rather than an actual free-standing statue.

RAW & UNCENSORED Der Deutsche Wochenschau film crew material shows treatment of Soviet POWs - Sept. 1941.
Moderator note: Historical documentaries go in opinion. Always.

After the war, of the few that had managed to somehow survive and were repatriated, most were simply shot by the Soviets. And unlike other victimized groups, no-one was interested in correctly representing their memory.

As we are seeing more and more US Liberal Democrats embracing items of the Socialist agenda.

A hopeful unneeded heads up.
History has repeatedly shown us the too often inhumane results of Socialism, as too many governments seeking greater control and authority become regimes and dictatorships.

Government Corruption
Why are fewer and fewer Americans trusting both the authorities and each other?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Ol'ga Kuznetsova

[REGNUM] The conservative tabloid New York Post released a story with the loud title “America doesn’t trust itself: faith in US institutions and each other has dropped dangerously.” In it, the authors, citing the latest data (for July 2023) from the American Gallup Institute, found that the average share of Americans who trust key public institutions is only 26%.

#1  Zero trust is the future. That's going to be hard for "the authorities" to adjust to.

#2  The Poor? Minimal trust if any and any residual patriotism their immigrant grandparents had for leaving a worse hellhole is fading away. The Rich? *Snicker* The Rich hardly trust each other and noblesse oblige is a distant memory.

The Middle Class is getting screwed badly and they are losing faith in the 'American Dream'. Ask where the falling trust is ...the Middle Class.

#3  Back in medieval times, noblesse oblige meant you did what the sovereign asked/told/voluntold or you lost your lands, wealth, and title.

Sorta like what is going on today.

#4  ^^^^
"Noblesse oblige is a French expression that means that nobility extends beyond mere entitlement, requiring people who hold such status to fulfill social responsibilities; the term retains the same meaning in English. For example, a primary obligation of a nobleman could include generosity towards those around him. Wikipedia"

#5  My experience has been that in order to trust anyone, or institution, or organization... you must first understand their purpose or motivation. From that perspective you may be able to determine what you can believe and what you must ignore.

#6  Nolblesse oblige is like hoi-polloi. Most people thing it means the exact opposite of what it means. Droit du seigneur is what badanov was thinking of.

#9  Why are fewer and fewer Americans trusting both the authorities and each other?

Might be because the 'authorities' have proven themselves beyond doubt to be lying c@cksuckers and a large segment of the 'each other' crowd are a bunch of hopeless bunch of dolt jackasses? Just a wild guess here...

On The Darkest Day In American History, Ray Epps Was Just A Little Rascal
[Federalist] More than two and a half years after the gravest threat to democracy of our lifetime — and maybe of all time — Jan. 6 agitator Ray Epps has finally been charged. See? Justice is being served.

According to court documents, Epps was charged with a sole misdemeanor count of "Disorderly or Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds" via an "information," as opposed to an indictment, which NBC news says suggests "he plans to enter a plea deal."

In other words, we’ll finally be able to rest — safe and sound and smug — knowing all the Tucker Carlson-fueled conspiracies about Epps being an FBI source or informant have been put to bed. Case closed. He was a wee bit disorderly. Let it go.

So why are rabid right-wingers foaming at the mouth and unable to accept the DOJ charges and media write-ups at face value? These are trusted institutions with an unblemished track record of ethics, honesty, and equal justice under the law. Turn off the Fox News and Truth Social already, and get your facts straight.

For instance, why are ultra-MAGA Republicans still asking about the multiple clips of Epps on both Jan. 5 and 6, 2021, rallying protesters to make their way from Trump’s speech not only up toward Capitol Hill but "into the Capitol"? Those conspiracists just can’t get over the fact that the demonstrators within earshot booed his suggestion and pegged him as a "Fed! Fed! Fed!" But what would they know? They’re insurrectionists.

And why are election deniers still bringing up that text Epps sent his nephew after the riot? "I was in front with a few others. I also orchestrated it." He walked that back a while ago, remember? He was just "boasting to [his] nephew." Never mind what he was boasting about.

How come Trump supporters are recirculating clips of a J6 demonstrator launching at the metal police barricade and helping to topple it immediately after Epps whispers into the then-apparently docile protester’s ear? Epps has already told the media he wasn’t agitating, telling CBS he said something like, "We’re not here for that. The police aren’t the enemy." And why wouldn’t the media trust him — in keeping with their unbreakable standard of believing all white men?

And what’s the deal with obsessing over Epps having been on the FBI Wanted List and then suddenly removed? Just like the Biden family business scandal, there is "still absolutely zero evidence that Ray Epps was a federal agent."

Why are radical conservatives like Julie Kelly all over Twitter droning on that Epps "was one of the first to breach exterior lines" and "interfered with security, and remained on restricted grounds for more than an hour"? Or yammering about Section 1512 — which covers anyone who "obstructs influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so" with fines or imprisonment — and how it’s been used to charge other J6 demonstrators? Don’t you get it? Epps has been charged.

On that note, Republicans can give it a rest already with the Proud Boys comparisons. So some guy who wasn’t even in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, will serve a 22-year prison sentence for seditious conspiracy and "terrorism" while ringleading Epps gets a disorderly conduct misdemeanor no-no and probably a plea deal — what’s your point?!

How many times do the media need to tell you people Ray Epps isn’t a fed before you get it through your thick skulls? It’s a CONSPIRACY. Nothing to see here.
