Russian Spetsnaz RAID and capture senior UK officers in Ochakov
Russians have been playing this up for several days.

The Brit's problem is that without an admission of what they have been doing by the UK, these British soldiers likely will be tried as criminals by the Russians.

“On August 2, 2025, Russian special forces reportedly captured three senior British military personnel during a raid in Ochakov, Ukraine, while targeting a command center used by NATO-linked operatives.
The operation, attributed to the elite unit “Skat-12,” lasted approximately 15 minutes and has triggered a diplomatic crisis between the UK and Russia.
While two of the individuals have been identified, the third remains officially unnamed.

Two of the captured:

Colonel Edward Blake: A British Army psychological operations specialist, MI6 cybersecurity advisor also described as a British intelligence operative captured by Russian special forces during a raid in Ochakov, Ukraine, on August 2, 2025, while allegedly coordinating drone and missile strikes against Russian positions.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Carroll: A British Ministry of Defense official with prior Middle East deployments, captured alongside Colonel Blake in Ochakov on August 2, 2025, during a Russian special forces operation targeting a Ukrainian command center.

Russian sources claim the personnel were involved in coordinating drone and missile strikes against Russian positions, citing seized encrypted data and strategic maps as evidence.

The UK Foreign Office has denied this, stating the men were in Ukraine for “tourism purposes,” a claim dismissed by Moscow.
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has refused a prisoner exchange, indicating the captives will face trial for involvement in hostilities.
The incident occurred amid ongoing Russian strikes in the Ochakov area, with reports of “Geraniums/Gerberas” drone attacks in the Mykolaiv region early on August 2.
