Al-Shabaab Senior Leaders, Including Kenyan Operatives, Killed in Somalia
Intelligence sources with knowledge of the matter report that senior Al-Shabaab figures were killed in a strike in the city of Jilib, southern Somalia, on 24 August 2026. The nighttime attack reportedly targeted Aden Abdullahi Ibrahim, also known as Dhegajun, who headed Al-Shabaab’s Finance Office and had only recently been appointed to the position. Several members responsible for the group’s operations in Kenya, identified as Farhan and Jamal, were also killed in the strike.
The airstrike, which took place in the centre of Jilib, was carried out by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The vehicle that was targeted was reportedly carrying the aforementioned Al-Shabaab figures when it was struck.
