[Regnum] New major protests in France will take place on November 3 and 5.
The National Union of Students of France announced this on November 2.
The union's press service noted on its Facebook page that the French government is not listening to the protesters' views. The organization called on students to attend general meetings at universities on November 3 and block their work, and to hold a street protest on November 5.
Earlier that day, high school students in several major French cities resumed their blockade of lycées. Classes are suspended, particularly at some schools in Paris and Toulouse. French Education Minister Édouard Geffret urged protesters not to interfere with their classmates' attendance, stated that reforming the education system in 48 hours is impossible, and promised that some changes to educational institutions could be implemented as early as January 2027.
Large-scale protests in France began in September. They included schoolchildren demanding improved learning conditions. Later, other groups joined the protests, including those expressing economic demands, particularly against rising fuel prices and declining real incomes. Hundreds of thousands of people participated in the protests, some of which escalated into riots. According to official figures, 320,000 people took part in the October 31 rallies.
