According to one version, the woman who died from the plague in Shelekhov worked as a laboratory assistant and broke a test tube with the infectious agent.

The girl’s name was Daria Shipilova, she was 28 years old, they were able to clarify «People of Baikal». She worked as a laboratory assistant at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute.

On September 25, Shipilova allegedly broke a test tube containing the causative agent of pneumonic plague, soon felt unwell, and an ambulance hospitalized her in the Shelekhov hospital. She stayed there for three days and died on the night of October 2. This version of events was reported by Irkutsk journalist Pavel Stepanov and the Mash publication.

Two years ago, Shipilova graduated with honors from residency at Irkutsk Medical State University with a degree in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics«.

According to the doctor, the plague is treated with strong doses of antibiotics, which can cause severe disturbances in the body, but do not lead to death. There are two forms of plague — bubonic and pulmonary. Bubonic can be infected through a rodent bite; it is not transmitted from person to person. And the pulmonary form is transmitted from person to person and is extremely contagious.

If the case is sporadic, in his opinion, the information will not be disclosed quickly. With such quarantine, entry and exit are prohibited and troops may be sent in.

The doctor repeated this twice: they are specifically taught not to communicate with the press in such situations.
