2 I expect the company to be sued out of existence. Initial reports suggest the pilot came in too fast, landed long, not leaving enough runway to bring the aircraft to a safe stop

3 I wonder if the fast and long landing was a result of the plane being overloaded, thus overweight?

A;so I wonder if the pressure to make the schedule factored in the pilots decision not to "go around"?

4 Not a worrywart about planes -- the numbers are what they are -- but a year or so ago, a couple of miles out from LAX on Century, I happened to look over at a hovering 777 and thought, "I know it's statistically impossible... but that sucker's gonna stall right there in front of me as if it's being staged for my benefit." Of course it didn't, and I rationalized the willies away (momentary calm at ground level... proud (Swissair) pilot coming in very light, blah blah blah) but yoiks. Still gives me a flutter.
