3 Lots of bear attack reports this year - started with Japan, I think. Is it just being reported more because it's a journalistic "thing" now or is there really an uptick in attacks? If the latter, what might be the cause? Climate change? (snark) Ursine Distemper out of a Wuhan lab? They're just tired of our $#it?

This is an actual word. I first heard it from my brother who was a ranger at one of the state parks in Michigan's Uppper Penninsula.

It refers to the sort of people who go mountain biking over cliffs, get stuck driving down impassible muddy two-tracks, or try to take selfies with the bears at the dump.
(Copper Harbor, MI has some excellent mountain bike trail. Mind the drop!)

11 Last Sunday night we had a massive bear buffet of every trashcan in the neighborhood, one after the other, you could hear them for hours. Winter is coming and they know the refuse collection days for each neighborhood. They come down into the Carson Valley food court from the Sierra Nevada's eqach night!like gourmet diners

What a great word.

I like the story about how bear trash cans have to be dumbed down because too many humans couldn't figure out how to use them.

Related Friday Funny:
Daughter was at a camp, and convinced her cabin full of well to do city dwellers that pine cones go to sleep at night. After she laid the story, for the rest of camp she would put a closed pine cone on the table after everyone had fallen asleep, and replace it with an open one during morning when everyone was out for morning scheduling, repeat.

Daughter and I were talking about these 'named celebrities' get on one of those appetite suppressive and turn into skeletons and I said they need to eat nutrient dense foods like meat, jerky, and they then get the Rabbit Fever. She knew exactly what I was talking about. I had the time of my life explaining about how coveted Bear Fat was back in the day to compensate for Lean Meat, especially Black Bear, why Pemmican was an ideal concentrated food (plus they need to exercise as well).
