There was some discussion about political leader elimination yesterday here in trying halt conflicts and wars.

Maybe the Russian citizens have reached their limit with USSR hold overs playing leader?

2 Russia has a very low birthrate -- far below replacement. Losing an additional million men is going to have repercussions far into the future for them. Tactically they've gained little. Strategically, they've lost, long-term. For historical reminder, look at France, Belgium, and England after WWI.

3 Many (most?) of those casualties are North Korean, Syrian, and others hired to be cannon fodder, or drafted from the Stans, not Russian.

4 In 2026, Ukraine has gained about 230 sq miles (for comparison, DC about 60 sq mi, RI about 1500 sq mi).

About 40 sq mi of this 230 has been in August.

On the other hand, Russia still holds about 40,000 sq mi of Ukraine.
