4 Possibly because the Kurds were American allies in the war against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and the Iranian Kurds who are fighting against Iran (PJAK, et al) have sheltered their families in Iraq for decades. But it runs hot and cold — and perhaps I am misinterpreting, but it appears to me that the Kurds like to fight.
