2 The squadron was almost certainly on TDY and exceeding the TDY length (189 days?) causes other things (I forgot the details) to come into play that the Air Farce would rather not deal with.

The US will rotate a different squadron in, although I doubt one is necessary, at least in the air superiority mission.

3 Also given recent Iranian strikes on US bases in Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain & Kuwait, it might be prudent to move these valuable assets out of the area. While it's possible they were in protected hangers in Israel, that simply means that other aircraft normally stored there had been displaced.
