4 Russian Media might have better numbers here. I saw the pics and devastation - the reported deaths by western media didnt match.

RIA Novosti: The death toll from the Venezuelan earthquake has reached 589, according to the country's presidential envoy, Delcy Rodriguez.

"Unfortunately, 589 people died and 2,980 were injured," she said at a meeting broadcast by the teleSUR television channel .

589 still seems low with all the apartments I saw toppled.

9 I'm guessing a lot of first responders and medical personnel in the affected region are also among the casualties. It's likely the roads are are blocked, heavily damaged or destroyed.
