4 Ask an infantryman what he thinks of the A-10. I can still hear those young kids cheering and clapping in the SCIF as they watched live UAV feeds of A-10's hitting the bad guys in AFG and Iraq.

6 Unfortunately the A-10 only is effective in a secured airspace.

I can carry stand-off weapons, however.

9 If it was up to the Air Farce*, the planes would be in the boneyard in AZ already. I strongly suspect that the Sec of War had a chat with either the Sec of Air Farce or senior Air Farce leadership and told them the A-10 was not going to be retired.

*I respect the rank & file in the branch, but senior leadership needs a wake up call
