4 Every college degree program should be required to produce a prospectus. They should be liable for civil penalties if the information in the prospecus is found to be misleading.

Prospective students would then have the information they need when deciding on a major. As things are now, it's hard to blame kids just out of high school for choosing a worthless liberal arts program. Nobody tells them they'll be poor if they pursue such degrees. In fact, high school counselors encourage them to go for it. It'd be nice if they knew the truth before they wasted four years and got themselves heavily into debt.

My comment wasn't to disparage those majors, just note that the economic job opportunities are so small that subsidizing those departments only leads to permanent academia paid for by the taxpayers and those crying for relief for unpayable student loans
