3 Iran has been at war with the USA since 1979 when it seized the US Embassy and took US embassy personnel hostage. Such an act has been a commonly understood act of war going back many centuries. The IRI has been killing US citizens numbering at least in the 100s since then. Iran's war on the USA has been going for a bit over 46 years.
