3 Us old people do die. In the past, we just died of old age. Now days they run a pie chart of 'causes' not noting that if you move the radii of one cause it only effects the other ones. The pie remains whole. They should have started one for those with Covid shots. In Canada they need one for assisted suicide.

5 That list does not include the 10 or so cold fusion scientists that were murdered.

So chew on this. Our entire global economy runs on oil and gas. If a limitless energy source became available the change would be so dramatic. Something similar to wide use of electricity.

But with a lot more puppet master dollars going up in flames. But they also would loose control.

6 I worked with a Brit scientist years ago that allegedly took a walk down a hedge row and slit his wrists. Never been able to believe he wasn't murdered.

10 Many scientists, despite having families and hobbies and all, can’t find a purpose for their life once research is not the center of it. My father had a very difficult time, becoming very nasty in his frustration until Mama got him involved in her research — a completely different field and style of work, but he throve on the challenge and the analysis, and so lived productively until a week after his 90th birthday. But when I was in high school, one of his colleagues stepped off the roof.

So retired scientists — or those approaching retirement — committing suicide would not surprise me at all.

13 My dad was the opposite TW. He was a professor and an award-winning physicist. But he loved retirement. Died of a heart attack at 81 after a day of down hill skiing with his friends.

14 The irregular past tense form throve is a bit archaic, NoMoreBS, having been replaced on this side of the pond by the regular thrived in the mid-19th century, and in England early in the 20th century, according to this linguistics post. But both my parent learnt British English first, and were trained by teachers who’d learnt their grammar eqrly in the century… and those were the books I mostly read as a child as well.

So now we all know. :-)
