2 What does Xi care? For the purpose of a functioning economy China has a serious excess of population, most of it male, some of it old. They stacked and burned unknown myriads of bodies during Covid — we saw the smoke plumes at the time. So why would Xi be concerned that he now has an excuse to permanently rid himself of wannabe competitors? That’s what totalitarian dictatorships do.

Choudri is not married but is engaged. His fiancee was also arrested as the person assaulted was a third party.
