3 Trump probably thought a coup would remove the top rung of leadership and that Iran would then transition.

But of course that's not what happened. In fact the next rung down from the present leadership may be as nasty as the top rung.

Internal Iranian resistance most likely reminiscent of the Warsaw Uprising networking with a lot of outside help either staged inside Iran or close to the MSRs.
