Explosions have been reported in the Iranian cities of Tehran, Karaj, Qom, Bandar Abbas, Ahvaz, and Tabriz.

Additionally, a resident of the building that exploded in Bandar Abbas claims the building was never attached to a gas line.

6 Since everyone tracks the US ships but not the "other guys" here's a quick rundown on goblins in the area.

Russian Udaloy-class frigate RFS Marshal Shaposhnikov (F543) and the oiler Boris Butoma are near Qatar. Russian corvette RFS Stoikiy (545) and fleet oiler Yelnya are inbound following combined Iranian/Chinese/Russian exercises near South Africa ending last week.

China usually has a 3-ship flotilla in the Gulf of Aden most recently including the Type 052D destroyer Urumqi, the frigate Linyi, and a supply ship. Their ships that participated in the South African exercise and now moving north are the destroyer CNS Tangshan (122), fleet oiler CNS Taihu (889), and the frigate Daqing (576).

Just for fun - and presumably the US Navy is tracking these guys - the Iranian contingent sailing north along the east coast of Africa includes the Makran / 441, Naghdi / 44 and the Shahid Mahdavi / L110-3.

yes it is predominately Sunni with a low of Arab speakers

Iraq quickly invaded this area way back in the Iraq-Iran war. The inhabitants did not welcome the Iraqis and eventually the Iraq forces were forced out. Both Iraq and Iran took huge losses in killed and injured in the battles in that area; certainly over 100k each killed probably much more.
