4 ^3. I tend to agree with Mercutio, the military is telling Xi that an invasion of Taiwan will at best be very costly and at worst could result in defeat. I rather doubt Xi likes hearing that.

As an aside, while the Chinese military looks pretty good on paper I question how good the servicemen and leadership are. Communist militaries do not encourage initiative and having to run all decisions through a political commissar hasn't proven to be effective.
