John the Baptist was Jewish, as were those he baptized, BrerRabbit. As was everyone involved in Christianity until the Jewish Saul, renamed St. Paul, accepted a mission to bring the pagans to Christ without first converting them to Judaism. Of course their practices were rooted in Jewish approaches and thinking.
