2 Ahmed al-Ahmed is a hero, it is very unfortunate that responding LEO's shot him, but understandable given the situation.

This is a lesson that anyone who chooses to carry a firearm for self defense. The police don't know that you are a good guy and they are unlikely to give you the benefit of the doubt.
