Why would a man drive across the country to commit the crime when he could murder/suicide at home, as many do?

In the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan the exercise of fundamental human and civil rights was a death penalty offense.

The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan did not acquiesce in the name of "Peaceful Coexistence" but officially protested US law applying domestically. Thus the IROA was officially more hostile to the West than the post-Stalin USSR was.

The assumption that any ordinary Afghan whose allegiance was to the "ally" IROA would NOT be hostile, or violently hostile towards the West has never been reasonable.
