Earlier this year, an analysis by University of Southern California professor Michael Mische suggested Californians could end up paying as much as $8.43 per gallon of gas next year as two refineries in the state have plans to shutter.

2 ^^^ I've heard this prediction.

Another prediction is, if enough oil isn't pumped in California oil fields (which is a possibility with the way Newsom treats the oil companies), the pipeline that delivers crude to the few remaining refineries won't have enough oil in it to maintain pumping pressure. Dunno if I explained it properly but the pipeline then runs dry and we're completely out of gas. We'll have to have gasoline shipped here from other states and foreign countries whose environmental standards are far lower thereby resulting in more pollution than was ever produced in California.

In a way, I kinda hope that happens because it gives Newsom's opponents in 2028 a helluva lot of ammunition. Shame on me because most Californians who still have to commute to work would suffer. But I'm retired, I don't commute anymore, and I could endure that pain at the pump if it means Newsom never gets to the White House.
