2 ...SECSTATE told them yesterday that if they stop firing missiles, we'll consider talking - which is what they've wanted all these years - but the response was just more threats.

It's out of control now, and the only options are bad and worse. Honestly, I served through a good chunk of the Cold War, and I never felt us as close to actually seeing nuclear weapons used as we are now.

9 I'm personally in the "shoot down the missiles" camp, along with the rest of Alaska Paul's suggestions. But just for grins, let's play Devil's Advocate and ask:

What's in it for Pudge? Let's assume he wants to continue his present lifestyle and not be lying dead in a ditch with one behind the ear.

He has seen Gaddafi get overthrown for reasons I still don't understand. Saddam and his hellspawn kids deserved it, but it's still unnerving to Ruthless Dictator types like Pudge. Nukes give him a hole card.

If he gives them up, who or what guarantees his security? Uncle Sam? Uncle Xi?
