#1 Hasn't this crook and his wife looted the US Treasury enough already?
Perhaps he's forgotten about the hundreds of thousands of Union soldiers who died freeing his ancestors.
In my view, thats payment enough.

Perhaps he should focus instead on the modern day slavery of blacks by muslims, which continues & runs rampant in the world today.

#3 Here's what President Ricky bin Ricardo would do - tell this scumbag and the rest of the grifting slimebags in the CBC that I'll sign a "reparations" bill on two conditions:

(1) If a person decides to accept a "reparations" payment, they must sign a statement declaring that they and all their immediate family members (defined as spouse and BOTH minor and adult children) are thereby surrendering and renouncing US citizenship; and

(2) the "reparations" check will arrive in an envelope containing one-way tickets for all aforementioned family members to the sub-Saharan pesthole of their choice.

#4 Reparations as I understand it, are a one-time payment. Champ's redistribution of wealth, 48 million EBT cards, Section-8 Housing, Earned Income Tax credit programs are perpetual, but I suppose both are the intended goal.

#5 hell black african's went to war with their other tribes/nations of africa for thousands of years before the portugese even sailed by west africa...and what did they do-- they enslaved the the losers....when the freed american slaves established liberia they enslaved the local black populations to work their plantations...frickin hypocrites

when american blacks accept the wrongs of their ancestors i will consider accepting the wrongs of white Americans that happened during my great-great-great-great grandfathers time...even though my family was from the north and paid in blood to free these lazy moochers

blacks are part of the problem of historical slavery and part of the problem today in their silence of what is happening to black christians in africa at the hands of the religion of peace....bunch of idiots

One of the lofty goals of anti-secessionists of that time was to ensure that these states united, would not end up as Europe. With nearly 700,000 dead by recent estimates, the severe cost in blood to keep power in Washington and limit that of the states cannot be disputed. Indisputable as well is the direction toward Europe we appear to be taking yet today. I must go back and dig out "Dixie Victorious" (an alternative history) for a re-read.

Yes, its just a small portion of the overall population, but so were slave owners. Yes, it (slavery) was condoned though not supported, but then again, the excuse factory for sociopathic behavior also by rationalization on their part condones the destructive behaviors and consequences as well.

So, go ahead and establish a principle that can/will be pushed back as well.

#19 I am pretty sure none of my ancestors were slaveowners. Does this mean that if I pay reparations that I get to have a slave? No thanks!

Who do we pay reparations to? I am fairly certain Conyers has never been a slave.

Also what about people's who's family members were killed in the Civil War trying to free the slaves? Do they have to may reparations as well as having had made the ultimate sacrifice?

Not all blacks were slaves - some came to the U.S. after and some came to the north and some were actually slave OWNERS. Do we have a way to identify true slave descendants? Will it be like the Pigford settlement where anyone could make a claim?
