[Regnum] Poland's 4th Warmia-Masuria Territorial Defense Brigade will be deployed to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast and will become a border defense brigade by the end of the year. Brigade commander Cezary Kiszkowiak announced this in an interview with RMF FM on November 2.
The brigade will monitor the situation on the border near the Suwalki Gap and, if necessary, participate in the defense, he said.
Kishkovyak added that the brigade's military personnel will be ready to support the border service and, in the future, will be able to assume responsibility for border defense without replacing border guards in matters of border protection.
It is expected that the brigade will achieve full readiness to perform new tasks within two years.
In October, Lithuania deployed military units to guard the border with the Kaliningrad region. Around 100 Lithuanian troops were deployed to mobile patrols and mobile observation posts.
