Because, it seems, given the current freedom of change, God Forbid. The next Coup appointed Left POS President could decide to do some really Far Left and odd things.

It was literally falling apart during Truman's time. They had to move everyone to the executive building across the street. The entire interior was gutted with only the exterior walls remaining. If you want it as a historical building then move the President and company to new contemporary digs and turn the place into a museum.

Ok, build a new WH to the Middle of the Lower 48 US.... Lebanon, Kansas.

Currently, the WH and the Federal Gov. being just offshore presents some serious security issues. Sub or shipping container launches, arriving in under 10 mins.
