3 Come, let us speculate...
Most Americans are vaccinated against measles. Entry to the US requires MMR (measles,mumps, rubella) vax. Two possible reservoirs for the disease are anti-vax Karens and recent illegal 3rd World immigrants.

Given the already-noted lack of data, /me puts a chip on the illegal. Like the man said, abscence of evidence is often a good clue.

Johns Hopkins School of Public Health has data as of end of school year 2025, FrankG :

The CDC also reports estimates of both medical and non-medical exemptions to vaccination requirements. While medical exemptions remained stable at 0.2% in 2024-25, non-medical exemptions reached an all-time high of 3.4%, with 3.6% of kindergartners receiving an exemption from at least one vaccine. This represents approximately 138,000 children across the country.

They also break it down by vaccine, which is less of a concern for this discussion. The key is that there are probably hundreds of thousands of American adults who are not inoculated against measles. I would guess millions of illegals were never vaccinated, though probably many of them had the diseases as children and have natural immunity, leaving more hundreds of thousands wandering the country still susceptible to infection. But you and SteveS are professional numbers guys — I’m sure you can do more with the data. ;-)

And then, for the paranoid, there are the jihadis and mad scientist Antifa types who have been talking for decades about doing something like this deliberately…
