4 The Flanders Festival Ghent has canceled a concert by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra because its (designated) director, Lahav Shani, is an Israeli.

Their lame excuse for this ecxample iof blatant antisemitism is this (emphasis mine)

"Lahav Shani has spoken out in favour of peace and reconciliation several times in the past, but in the light of his role as the chief conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, we are unable to provide sufficient clarity about his attitude to the genocidal regime in Tel Aviv. In line with the call from the Minister of Culture, the city council of Ghent and the cultural sector in Ghent, we have chosen to refrain from collaboration with partners who have not distanced themselves unequivocally from that regime.

Given the inhumanity of the current situation, which is also leading to emotional reactions in our own society, we believe it is undesirable to allow this concert to go ahead. We have chosen to maintain the serenity of our festival and safeguard the concert experience for our visitors and musicians."

Naturally this hasn't gone down well in Germany and especially Bavaria.

5 There no longer is anything natural about it, European Conservative. Rather, that reaction is classically heroic.

On the other hand, I imagine a clever lawyer could have a great deal of fun suing the festival for breaking the contract in that fashion. Make ‘em pay until their eyes bleed.

Brutal genocidal violence is a move that leads to political wins and an expansion of political influence for the perpetrators.

This is also the logic behind the Charlie Kirk assassination just as it was the logic behind the various (political) Islamic massacres in Western nations.

8 In Germany a debate has just started whether Germany should boycott the ESC if Israel is banned.

Btw the beautiful song from Israel this year was voted best by the public. The "jury" saw to it that it didn't win.

Some good news from Munich. The Reichenbach Synagoge (built in 1931 in Bauhaus style) has been renovated and will be reopened on September 15, in the presence of chancellor Merz and Bavarian representatives ;-)

It will be beautiful.
