1 It's all good with American hospitality until Europeans find out that they're expected to tip 20% (better more), and often on top of a bill that has already included a "gratuity" of 20%.

But yes, if Germany gets to face Scotland, Boston will run as dry as the Sahara desert (except for Bud light as we'd prefer to drinlk water instead).

2 In Europe the higher wages are paid by the employer instead of directly by the customer, so it’s invisible. But yes, it will be a shock.

7 I can't stand "automatic gratuity" added to the bill and STILL be expected to tip 20% on top of this. Usually I manage to get the gratuity removed and tip in cash, if the service was good.

9 I went to buy a cup of coffee at one US airport I transited through with the intention of throwing the loose change into the tip jar until I saw there was a mandatory x% mark-up to support the workers or some such statement. The loose change went right into my pocket.
