1 This is the petrodollar system.
They sell their oil in dollars then recycle those dollars into US treasuries. Or it looks like other countries sell goods to us then recycle that money. This system is NOT a Ponzi scheme. It is the foundation of post-WW2 American power. It allows us to borrow incredible sums of money to maintain our global military presence as well as the war against the mad mullahs of Iran.

2 China currently holds half the amount of US bonds they held in 2014 (not allowing for additional depreciation due to inflation in the past 12 years). They are deliberately reducing their exposure to the volatile US financing program.
