1 Who hit the Europeans in the head with the clue bat?

Having the morons in Iran insist that only they can establish security is one of the few things that would get the Europeans to react and maybe even do something.

Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister, said earlier that any French or British naval deployment in or around the strait would face a “decisive and immediate response” from the Iranian armed forces.

So what was French President Emmanuel Macron's response to that Iranian threat? This is next-level, even for long-term surrender monkeys.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday ruled out any unilateral French military deployment in the Strait of Hormuz without consultation with Iran, while reaffirming Paris’ readiness to support efforts aimed at restoring maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.

“A French deployment was never considered,” Macron told a press conference in Nairobi alongside Kenyan President William Ruto.

Macron reiterated, however, that France “stands ready” to help allow the resumption of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz “in coordination with Iran.”

10 The European game is essentially to pretend the US isn't involved. Hard to imagine how utterly foolish they look, even to themselves. But they do have a media moment to look like they are doing something and are relevant, which is really all that matters to them at this point!

Despite their fecklessness, the EU actually has a lot of leverage here. You could call up whoever you know in the IRGC faction and say, "Open up the Straits or we let Trump go crazy. You know how he gets! In exchange, we'll get him to postpone the nuke stuff for later."

It will not happen of course. The EUros are whipsawed between their need to get the oil flowing and their fear that Trump will get the credit. Right now, fear is winning.

It will be interesting to see where they position the UK and French ships when they arrive on station.
