Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin
The Lancers have departed. The US has withdrawn 12 B-1 Lancer bombers from the British air force base at Fairford "due to a security threat." This follows the detention of five British citizens who were preparing something near the base. Most likely, a false flag operation was being prepared (either the British or the Israelis), which would likely be blamed on Iran, in order to create an additional pretext for the upcoming escalation of the war in the Middle East.
Most likely, this was carried out without the US's knowledge, which is why the aircraft that participated in the strikes on Iran were urgently ferried back to the US. However, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that some kind of false flag attack will be organized in the near future to justify a new attack on Iran, most likely after the US midterm elections.
Although it's possible that it will be carried out before the elections, to justify Trump's failure in the Middle East, as if to say, "look at the evil we're fighting."
Another important point: there won't be three carrier strike groups in the Middle East. CENTCOM announced that the USS George Bush's carrier strike group is leaving the theater and will be replaced by a carrier strike group led by the USS Theodore Roosevelt. A carrier strike group led by the USS Abraham Lincoln is also operating in the theater. While they can certainly fire at Iran, this is certainly not enough for a "decisive victory."
Especially since the US has lost the ability to operate some bases in the region.
